Who's going to buy Star Wars Trilogy next Week???
Eh... *shrugs*
My friend is a real Star Wars nut, so I'll see if I can just borrow from her when she gets them. Otherwise, I don't think I'll watch them enough to make the purchase worth it.
Oh yeah, and then there's that whole issue about these not being the original films...

Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."

Yay, another Trekkie!!Squirrel wrote:I'm not, alas ...
I think the Star Wars movies are okay, and I've seen them all many times, but ... I like Star Trek a lot more. Shrugs. I'm just not into Star Wars, and I don't want to devote the financial resources to it.
As for me, I'll probably not get it. My P&S 1997 VHS's will do for now, and I'll just wait for Lucas to decide "Hey, I should be nice and release the originals as they were seen in 1977, 1980, and 1984. It'll make those damn purists happy. And Han can shoot first too!" Of course, I can't wait that long seeing as I plan to die in about 85 years or so.
Wouldn't it make more money for them if they released both versions? Cause you've got the newer viewers who probably would prefer the newest version, and you've got the collectors, who'd get probably two copies of both versions, and you've got the purists who'd get just the originals and if they want to have a sacrificial bonfire, the new one. And then, there are those who'll buy multiple copies and sell them on e-bay or make bootlegs and sell them on e-bay or put them in a vault to be opened 50 years later and sold on e-bay.

So it would appear many sites are actually selling the set to us at a loss (can be got for £26.99 in the UK and $41.88 in America. They're literally paying you to take a set off their hands!Retail analysts told BBC News Online that the wholesale price of the box set was £30.16 in the UK, and $50.49 in the US.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Wait, that's not right either...

When I went to pick it up yesterday, prices varied from $67 AUS ($US47) to a whopping $89.95 ($63.50US!!!). I'd say the latter was to make a profit, as they weren't primarily a retail place (it was a rental store).
I got it for the former.
