It's nice that they at least chose a different cover this time. Do you think this release will have new extras or is that unlikely?

I think they will use the exact same disc as the previous release.

I imagined that would be the case. It's a shame they don't use the opportunity to add something new.

I would have rather if they had done a wide release of a 4K version with new bonus features instead of that dreadful cheap sequel. I honestly don't know if I should get this or wait for a 4K release that might happen with the remake.

I actually have that cover they used in poster form from back in the โ€˜90s. Iโ€™ve never really been a fan of the film, but I was a child at the time. I remember I won $50 from a scratch-off ticket and bought a bunch of framed The Lion King pictures and that poster (there wasnโ€™t anything TLM-related available, I suppose). I always thought it was an attractively-composed poster even if the movie isnโ€™t one of my favorites. I don't plan to buy this on Blu-ray a second time though.

I like this new trend of re-using old posters for covers (this, the TLK steelbook from a while back, the Hocus Pocus re-release, TLM's steelbook). I hope that happens with Aladdin's and The Little Mermaid's full cast posters someday, too. Unfortunately, I've always thought B&tB's posters are a letdown in comparison to the ones for the other Fab Four.

Surprising how all of the features who were released in early 2013 (Hunchback, Mulan and Brother Bear) are getting re-released now. At least Hunchback makes sense, due to it`s Silver Anniversary. But I`ll highly doubt that they`ll get more Bonus Features, anyways.

Agreed, it`s one of my favorite posters. In fact, Hunchback had various great posters, even those who were minimalists.

Fair enough. I`ve always thought they were fine, but not outstanding. My least favorite posters from the Renaissance were the ones from Hercules and Mulan. They weren`t horrible, they were just underwhelming. The former had just one poster with majority of the characters, but the secondary posters were a bit of a letdown. It`s remarkable how minimalistic the posters from Mulan, as it didn`t have a poster with all of the characters.

They chose these because each film celebrates its anniversary:
Beauty and the Beast - 30th anniversary.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame - 25th anniversary.
Atlantis - 20th anniversary.
Brother Bear 2 - 15th anniversary.

^That's a shame. Well, at least it seems they kept the extras from the previous edition.

Regarding "Hellfire":
Stephen Schwartz wrote:We thought we would never get away with that song! Alan and I were like, โ€œThereโ€™s no way this is going into the movie.โ€ Once again, we wrote what we felt should be there. I talked to Alan about the end of the first act of Tosca, which is one of my favorite operas. Disney was a very, very adventurous company in those days. Theyโ€™d had a lot of success by pushing the envelope, and I admired that. I donโ€™t do much work for Disney these days, but I think that a lot of movie companies have retreated from a place of courage and become more [about] playing it safe and corporate. I think thatโ€™s too bad. Disney has enough success โ€” it seems to me that they could be a little braver now then they are.

Yea, and not being braver is whats going to kill them if they keep things up. Safe isnt safe at all.

I remember being afraid of this segment as a child (although I also grew up with a knock off animated Hunchback :P ), but it made the movie even then more impactful and memorable, and many years later, its still one of Disneys best (villain) songs. In this Song Frollo is clearly torn between desire and doing what he thinks is right, actually so relatable lol (minus the rotting gypsies out part of course). This song alone makes Frollo such a complex and interesting character. And Schwartzs critizism is valid. Disney is the biggest Company in the world right now (as they were in the 90s), and lately after getting labled as "woke" with their latest releases, they clearly lost a big amount of family audiences... so why dont embrace that? Why dont find a way to Profit out of that by creating complex and dark stories again? They would win such a Big adult audience and their respect for that, they as a multi billion dollar company can clearly invest in 2-3 projects like that rn. As long as they still are on the top, there is no reason for them to not experiment more in hopes to build a larger amount of success. I think Disney was therefore as beloved by adult movie goers as well as families (Beauty and the Beast was the dating movie of my parents 8) ). Win your adult audience back Disney!
Also I think maybe we will be entering into a huge adult animated era soon (Shrek 5 maybe coming 2025, Sonys Fixed could shake up the game) i would love to see that.

I don't know if this has been posted before. Artworks made for the cover or the merchandise of The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. I found it on an auction website.

100% agree! I think it's super protective moms in America that gave Hunchback a bad rating. I don't think it's religious groups because I've spoken to religious people all over the world and none of them dislike this movie but love it. It's only ever the American moms. I have a Disney friend who loves and consumes all Disney stuff but she hates Hunchback and says she finds it inappropriate and unsafe. That she feels physically threatened by this movie's existence and thinks Disney shamed all children by making this movie.
