I was just going to come and post about that narrative as well - when it says 'Lead Role' ... do they really mean the lead of the whole film ?

Maybe they had to recast Morgan as it was a singing role now ?

I really really hope it's not Little Mermaid 2 vibes, absolutely not here for that.

I thought of that too, but apparently Rachel Covey also sings.

Me neither. Hopefully, it won't be anything like that.

I'm with you guys. I wish Morgan hadn't been recast and I hope she's not the real lead of the film.

I mean, it's a lead role as in gets mentioned with the other main characters and etc, but I doubt she is the focus. They wouldn't get Amy Adams back and even Patrick Dempsey to sing for that. Plus, the villain trio gives a clue that they're antagonists to Giselle. Three women ganging up on a teenager seems wrong rotfl

Yeah, it's a shame the other actors are returning but not her. Rachel Covey is just three years older than the new actress, so I doubt the age was the reason for recasting the character. But maybe it's the voice, as you guys mentioned. Though Rachel also sings, perhaps they wanted a better singer. Or, given that Morgan's role is apparently larger now, maybe they wanted a better actress or someone more charismatic, for example. Although, I think Rachel did a great job in the first film and was very charming and likeable. It's also possible they just wanted someone prettier.

The title and the synopsis also seem to indicate Giselle is the lead character once again. I hope you're right and they called Morgan that just because she's one of the main characters. Speaking of Morgan, I bet Malvina's son, played by Kolton Stewart, will be her love interest in the film.

Progress on the sets of the film:

And concept art of what the town square will look like when the set is finished:

The caption of the concept art reveals the village is going to be called Monrolasia (Monroeville + Andalasia) when it gets transformed into a fantasy place. By the way, I've just realized the town is probably named after Maya Rudolph's character, Malvina Monroe.

^You're welcome! I like the house too. It's a bit reminiscent of Giselle's house from the beginning of the first film. By the way, they've decorated it with more flowers now. And here's the name of another shop.

Regarding Malvina Monroe and Monroeville, it reminded me of something and now I know what it is; it's similar to Mr. Potter and Pottersville from It's a Wonderful Life. I wonder if it's an homage to that film. It's not a Disney movie, but the original had two references to The Sound of Music, for example, which is now owned by Disney, but wasn't when the film was released.

More images and a video from the set. It seems they've started shooting. The white carriage looks very similar to the one in the first movie, right?

Wow the house looks so beautiful! That carriage does indeed look like the one in the beginning of the first film! Haha, A Whole Food World! Those Smee's Cheese letters are little slanted. I love that the fairy tale look is still all art nouveau-inspired.

Here are more images of extras. The director said recently that they've already filmed half of the movie. It's curious that no pictures from the actual shoot have leaked when they're filming in the streets of a village, while we've gotten lots of photos from the set of The Little Mermaid, which is being shot at a remote beach.

Maya Rudolph and Patrick Dempsey have also talked about the film lately. Maya suggested she'll have a villain song in this interview and Patrick said he thinks the movie will come out in fall 2022, and what's more important, he confirmed it'll have animated sequences.

Yay, a villain song! I hope the villain here is better than Narissa was. I think the only moment in the whole film that I liked Narissa was the part where she enters the real world and shoots lightning to stop the traffic.
