I’ve been told that Aladdin: Live From the West End will be available on Disney+ by April 2021. Of course, this is quite a vague timeline, and it might even be pushed back a little later when you consider that 2021’s second quarter doesn’t end until June, but sadly that’s as much information I currently have on the recording.

I can't believe how perfectly timed that is for me. We're in Disney World for our 10th anniversary/Magic Kingdom's 50th then so we're now adding a 2 day/1 night round trip to NYC and managed to get tickets for reopening night!

I guess this was another miss by them. They should really rename the site "We Got This Covered 2".

Well most musicals are just starting back up again, inlcuding some productions of Aladdin. Maybe they want to have those productions up and running before releasing a pro-shot.

I love that clip of Michael and James!

I actually should have posted this here on Friday. Can't believe it's been 10 years since the show first premiered in Seattle. The cast very kindly shared some of their favourite memories for the anniversary.

Thanks for sharing that tribute video. I can't believe it's already been ten years. It has been quite the (magic carpet) ride, hasn't it? I remember the excitement when it was going to debut on 5th Avenue Theater and when those first publicity photos came out. We were quite lucky that we got such a great cast from the very beginning who captured the characters so well.

Besides the production of Aladdin opening in the Netherlands on September 18th, Disney will also be opening a production in Mexico City.

Everything has to go some time (and with Disney, it's rarely gone forever). Perhaps it'll leave room for them to re-do The Little Mermaid properly after the trainwreck that was the original show. Or Rapunzel or Hercules shows. More likely it'll be Moana because Miranda though.

Maybe Disney should consider not reopening up a show during a worldwide pandemic.

Broadway has been open for a while now and people do come for shows. In my opinion Disney's stage shows don't really have anything to offer because they are basically the movie but longer and really aimed for younger kids, the only exception being The Lion King. People are more likely to go to shows like Hadestown, The Lion King, The Phantom of the Opera, Little Shop of Horrors, Chicago, Hamilton, etc.. than to Frozen or Aladdin.

It's true TLK's show is above the other shows Disney has done, for many reasons, but the Aladdin show was a big hit, much bigger than anyone expected from what I remember. The pandemic help do in both it and Frozen, but it's for the best if they phase properties in and out anyway, imo. Partly to give people a break from one and to give something else a chance at the same time.
