Avatars

Post by Rumpelstiltskin »

Just thought it could be of interest to have a place where people explain their choice of avatar (which are mostly Disney related), or want to ask others about their, ask for suggestions or announce when they have replaced the old with a new.

Ooooh! This is right up my alley!

I have to remember to come back here and write something. (I can't right now as I am outside a café with a bag of VERY perishable groceries.)

Also, it's still February but it feels like summer. While the rest of Europe is turning into an ice cube, you could literally strip down and go for a swim right now!

In hindsight, in the time it has taken me to explain this, I could have actually said something re avatar culture. :P

I'll be back!

Oh, btw, I thought this was a thread for Cameron's Avatar sequel! :P

I figured since Alien became Aliens and Predator became Predators, Avatar 2 has been renamed to Avatars!

My avatar is this right now:
Image

It's Cinderella transforming, from the Disney Storybook Artists that even Floyd Norman helped make for various Disney storybooks.

My banner is also from that art, but this is of Cinderella and Prince Charming dancing:

I tried to frame them both really well.

I am only keeping these for a little bit longer as they were originally just supposed to celebrate Cinderella's 70th Anniversary.

Yeah, I wasn't sure what title to use, so I just decided to go for a short one that is explained as soon as you click on it.
(And eventually a teaser or trailer from the sequel to James Cameron's Avatar will be released, and that thread, if it exist, will finally become active again.)

It does fit with the name, since the transformation requires some fairy dust.

Great idea, Rumpelstiltskin! I think I already explained why I chose my avatar. Gummi Bears is my favorite Disney TV series. I love DuckTales almost as much, but I like Gummi Bears slightly more, perhaps because of the fantasy element and the period setting. What I haven't told, though, is why I changed my first avatar for a snowy version (though I think it's easy to guess). At first, I planned to have it just for Christmas and then return to the one I had, but then I thought I could keep it during the rest of winter, since it also fit with the season. I may change it before that, though. We'll see.

By the way, your avatar and banner are beautiful, Disney Duster. I also love yours, Rumpelstiltskin, as I once told you. And I don't remember if I already said this or not, but I've always admired your banners, Disney's Divinity. Apart from being beautiful and very elaborate, I think you found a great way of renewing it from time to time while still being recognizable it's you. Now that we are only a few members it's easy to keep track of everyone's avatars, but when there were many users and someone changed it for something very different, sometimes you had trouble remembering who that person was, and that doesn't happen with yours.

^ Thank you. I have several really pretty ones, but I know they're not all great. Anyway, I know what you mean. On other forums, avatars change so often and there are so many people that it's hard for me to remember anybody for very long.

You are very observant Rumpelstiltskin, because I did also make my avatar have Disney dust in it.

Thank you for what you said, D82! Your avatar is pretty, too, and Iike that you are keeping it for Winter. I agree with what you said about Disney's Divinity and people changing their avatars.

Ok, I finally changed my avatar and siggy for now. Cinderella's 70th Anniversary year is over. Time for a new combo!

I saw this thing on Robot Chicken about a Furby Genocide. It was kinda sad. But freaking hilarious. Hence, my avatar and siggy should be self expalnatory, but the avatar is May-Lah, a genocide survivor (see her ear? The eye patch?!) in an interview, and the siggy is her looking at a wall of fallen Furbys.

Thank you so much! In the episode people get annoyed by their Furbys constantly needing attention so they beat them up and destroy them, it's awful but funny lol. I love your Black Cauldron avatar and siggy, even if you've used it before. You release your own classics from the vault!

For anyone interested and who may like a laugh, I found the video my avatar and siggy set come from on Youtube: Furby Genocide.

May-lah is too cute not to return, but for now I'm gonna unleash on this forum Gmork, the evil wolf-like creature from The Neverending Story, one of my favorite movies. Hope he's not too scary.

Honestly I thought this ThreadRead topic was confirming that the Second Avatar/1st Avatar sequel was going to be called avatars, obviously following tradition from one of James Cameron’s earlier movies which was a sequel, his second sequel that he made even though he didn’t make the first one :-)

Gmork kept scaring the hell out of me every time I went on here, so I switched to Giles Standish and a little of Niles Standish from Crank Yankers.

This is a cool thread! I like seeing everyone's reasons for choosing their avatars and signatures.

For the longest time, I had Maleficent as mine, but it's been well past due for a change. As of late, I've been going with whatever Disney film I've been feeling. I recently went with Pinocchio and Mary Poppins, because when is there ever a bad time for those films? But I went with Up a couple of months ago after putting it on as a tribute to Ed Asner. Normally, it's not one of my favorite Pixar films- I think it's around this time that I really started to notice the formula- but I was really feeling it this time.
