Oh, yes, please let that happen! I'd love if more of these services combined with which other for higher profit (and less cost for consumers!).

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's not happening. Aside from branding reasons, there are legal issues currently preventing that from happening. First of, even though Disney has operational control, Comcast still owns 33% of Hulu. It would be a legal nightmare to combine the two services before Disney were to buy back Comcast's stake. The soonest that can happen is 2024. Also, there is the issue of content licensing from third parties and live TV that Hulu offers. Those deals would have to be renegotiated for a potential merged service. It's no wonder Disney preferred launching a new Star-branded service overseas with just content they own instead of expanding Hulu internationally.

I think adding a WDAS collection is a great idea. And I just don't understand why they can't have the shows in order. When binging Coop & Cami Ask the World, some seemed out of order as well...

During the Investor Day presentation, the company announced that, as of December 2, its portfolio of direct-to-consumer services has exceeded a total of 137 million global paid subscriptions, including 11.5 million ESPN+ subscribers, 38.8 million Hulu subscribers, and a staggering 86.8 million Disney+ subscribers since its launch in November 2019. After greatly exceeding expectations, The Walt Disney Company shared guidance that it now expects its streaming services to hit 300–350 million total subscriptions by fiscal 2024, driven primarily by a significant increase in content output. Disney+ alone is targeting to release more than 100 titles per year.

Beginning March 26, 2021, Disney+ will be priced in the U.S. at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year, while the Disney Bundle with Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ will be priced at $13.99 per month. A new agreement with Comcast was also announced, that will bring Disney+ and ESPN+ experiences to Comcast X1 set-top boxes and Flex platforms in the first quarter of 2021, joining Hulu which became available on these platforms in Spring 2020. Additionally, Hulu customers will also be able to subscribe to ESPN+ within the Hulu user interface and access the ESPN+ lineup of sports programming there beginning in early 2021.

It's a Dog's Life is one of my favorite originals on D+ (I hope we get a Season 2!), and that was really cute. The show has animation similar to that, so this was enjoyable to see! Neat idea for a short YouTube show, too!

I'm pretty surprised to see Moana rank so high, and being #1 worldwide. It does show that there is clearly still interest in the character.

But I think I'm even more surprised to see The Simpsons be the #1 series. I honestly wasn't expecting the overlap between its fans and Disney+ users to be that strong. I say as I'm starting to write about it now, ha.

Wait- Clone Wars outranked Mandalorian in the states? That's pretty interesting...

With Moana up there close to Frozen, I wonder why its merchandise sales haven't been closer to matching Frozen's? :? I think it did around 600 million to Frozen's billion in merchandise, which is why Moana was slowly going to be absorbed into the DP line. I hope Raya can succeed in standing on its own legs where Moana failed, but I'm not sure that will happen. :/

Oh, and I'm mystified as to why OUAT is so high. It feels like forever ago that that series ended... Probably feels like longer since I refused to watch season 7 when they dumped Zelena / Mader for no reason (and that was after season 6 was awful barring the first four episodes, the musical ep, and Morrison's finale).

The most surprising thing to me is that none of the early Renaissance films are on that list. No Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin or The Lion King?

I have my own theory about why Moana is number #1 while it doesn't have as much merchandise (merchandise, not sales) as the other princesses, might also explain why they chose to use Moana for the Polynesian Resort.

Care to share that theory? I think that popularity of a movie doesn't always translate to merchandise sales. Zootopia is another example of a popular title that doesn't move a lot of product.

But is it the original Aladdin or the remake? I know they put 2020 next to the remakes but The Lion King came out in 2019. It's good that it's the original, but it's still weird that the others are not on the list.

As for Moana, I just want yo clarify that it's just what I think and I don't really have any idea about all of this, I don't really follow merchandising and stuff like that.
Back in the Moana thread I said that my friend told me that it didn't make sense to him that Disney would want to incorporate Disney characters in the Polynesian Resort because it's aimed for adults (again I have no idea about park stuff as well so if he's wrong please let me know), but from what I gather, based on my surroundings*, is that Moana is more loved by grown ups than kids, or at least ones that are not THAT into Disney. I think that's something that would translate into less variety of merchandise because not a lot of products can be aimed for adults, especially not ones who are into Disney. And yes I think that children do like Frozen and The Little Mermaid and such much better and I do think they'd prefer the more princess-y princesses (I don't think that's necessarily white princesses but most of the princess-y princesses are white), thus why they have more products. So in the end I think the merchandising, especially the DP merchandising, is aimed to a much narrower demographics than the views on Disney Plus, but again that's just how I see it. I can be wrong. I will say that I was surprised at the Moana's ranking on both because I thought that Moana, being the newest of the films besides Frozen, would have more merchandise, at least I remembered it used to have a lot back in 2017 and I also didn't expect it to be above many other titles, on D+, like Frozen, the Renaissance films, Star Wars, Marvel, so IDK, come to think of it, I think most grown ups would prefer to watch Star Wars or Marvel than Moana so IDK, it's weird.

* I said my surroundings but midway I remembered that we don't have access to D+ (at least the majority that can't be bothered with VPNs and such).

** I also want to clarify that what I said is about the way I view what the general public would like and not necessarily my own preference or thoughts, I'd definitely rather watch WDAS or Pixar over Marvel or Star Wars, but unfortunately people still view most of them as just for kids. I also don't think merchandise are for kids alone and in fact I own a few things myself.

I checked the source, and you're right, it was the Aladdin remake after all and not the original. It's weird that none of the Fab4 made it in. Could it had anything to do with their availability on the service? I know that Moana and Frozen were made available on launch. Were the others too? Were they at any point removed because of previous licensing agreements? Did all of the international versions of the service had them on launch and for how long?

That's a good theory, but are we talking about adults with or without kids? Because I would imagine that parents who liked the movie would show it to their kids, and if their kids liked it, they would want dolls and other merch based on it. That would create demand and eventually drive up production.
