I'm glad that Hilary is wanting this to happen. It sounds like Hilary & Disney are both open to compromise, if I understood the article, so fingers and toes crossed!!!

Re: Lizzie McGuire Revival
Well, I hope it is canceled.
I'm a big fan of the show and when I see how they handled Life-Size 2 ( !!!!!) and that mediocre That's so raven sequel, I think it's for the best.

I too think cancelation is better than having a watered-down, creatively compromised show. Sucks, but it's for the best.Redadoodles wrote:Well, I hope it is canceled.

Legitimately cannot believe Disney let this slip through the cracks. I don’t think they realize the enthusiasm that people had for this. How many people subscribed specifically for this. And also how many fans felt there needed to be more. This show holds such a special place in pop culture history, and not letting the character grow up and be an adult just makes no sense. Send it to Hulu. The casts enthusiasm about this alone was more than enough to tell me it would have been something special. I pray they eventually come around, but I won’t lie... I’m gutted on this one.

Re: Lizzie McGuire Revival
The episodes might have been shot, but that doesn't necessarily mean they were finished. There's a lot of post-production work that needs to be done after filming such as editing, sound, music, animation etc.bruno_wbt wrote:I hope they put the two already shot episodes...
I'm disappointed by the news as well. I think the reason they didn't want to send it to Hulu is because this is a Disney Channel property and a Disney-branded project. Perhaps they believed if they allowed it to be more adult, even on Hulu, it would have created target demographic confusion or dilution of the property and the Disney name. Perhaps they feared they'd get complaints from parents since this sequel/revival shared the exact same name with the original family-friendly show. Audiences might have expected the same tone or humor as the original and felt duped when the new show didn't match that.nomad2010 wrote:This show holds such a special place in pop culture history, and not letting the character grow up and be an adult just makes no sense. Re: Lizzie McGuire Revival
^ That definitely makes sense, that parents that allow their kids to watch the original would of course assume the new one is kid-friendly without checking it out first. Have there been other similar instances, where there was a "second chapter"/reboot/etc. that was a lot more grownup than the original?

Re: Lizzie McGuire Revival
Several years ago, Disney filmed a pilot for a Lizzie McGuire spin-off series that would have centered around Miranda's younger sister. It starred Selena Gomez and this was even before "Wizards of Waverly Place." This has never been released or even leaked, despite sitting in Disney's vaults for about fifteen years now. So I don't see the completed revival episodes being publicly released, unless someone internally finds them on a hard drive and leaks them online.
Curiously, Disney also tried making a Lizzie McGuire show shortly after the original series ended that would have focused on her high school years and aired on ABC. There is even dialogue in the movie hinting at this possibility and the reason why they introduced Alex Borstein's high school principal character. But contract negotiations between Disney and Hilary Duff felt apart, so this proposed show was never made. So Lizzie has unfortunately been down this road before.

Well, Life Size 2 is an example with alcohol induced blackouts, hookups and non stop sexual innuendos. That joke of a film is also on Disney plus so ..blackcauldron85 wrote:^ That definitely makes sense, that parents that allow their kids to watch the original would of course assume the new one is kid-friendly without checking it out first. Re: Lizzie McGuire Revival
^ I did see you mentioned that earlier, and I think it slipped my mind because I still haven't seen that film! Hmmm, I wonder what the reasoning is for that film to be on D+ & not Hulu!?

Re: Lizzie McGuire Revival
I see no difference in aging the property than doing that with what happened to Archie comics Riverdale. Life Size 2 is also a decent example. The new Saved by the Bell. And most of the properties that the CW is adapting like the new Powerpuff Girls. There’s just no way that Duff and Minsky’s take could be that extreme.
I’ve heard people saying Duff wanted an Emily in Paris type Lizzie. Even Emily in Paris isn’t that raunchy if you cut a bit of the sex and the profanity. The fact that Disney couldn’t come to terms with that is beyond silly to me. I really see them regretting this in a few years if they don’t somehow reconcile.

No idea, maybe it was a trap to have people subscribe to Disney plus but anyway, do me a favor.. Actually no, do yourself a favor, do NOT watch it.blackcauldron85 wrote:^ I did see you mentioned that earlier, and I think it slipped my mind because I still haven't seen that film! Re: Lizzie McGuire Revival
I actually agree. Girl Meets World was such a disappointment and Disney clearly had its hand in it. If it was going to be "happy happy HAPPY" because of D23, no thank you.Redadoodles wrote:Well, I hope it is canceled.

Re: Lizzie McGuire Revival
It wasn’t going to be like that. They actually test screened the two episodes they completed before the hiatus to a select number of people and I managed to see a few of the tweets before they disappeared and they said it stellar and if I recall correctly “wild” which in context of the tweets didn’t mean dirty, but crazy fun. I’ll see if I can dig them up.disneyprincess11 wrote:I actually agree. Girl Meets World was such a disappointment and Disney clearly had its hand in it.
