DMC Booklet - Loaded with Errors

Post by Luke »

Just got the Disney Movie Club catalogue booklet today, and I noticed a bunch of errors, such as:

The Love Bug: they picture the Bruce Campbell version
Newsies: NOT a 2-disc set
Herbie's 3-Pack: NOT available on DVD
Bicentennial Man: NOT rated PG

And this is just from a quick browsing of the catalogue. They need to get their stuff together.

"Love Bug"... "Bruce Campbell" please tell me more! Bruce is one of the overlooked superstars of film (along with Jason Lee).
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

not to mention they stated they have the treasure tins available.

Question: What is the rating of Bicentennial Man? I haven't seen that movie yet.

It's PG-13 and there's a surprising amount of frank sexual discussion, enough to redden some faces, anyway.

The Love Bug with Bruce Campbell that is pictured is the '97 (or '98?) Wonderful World of Disney version, which is only available on VHS.

I met Bruce Campbell last Fall at a horror movie convention, promoting his "If Chins Could Kill" paperback book. He is supremely funny, while being gracious to his fans.

I wholeheartedly agree that he is one of the most overlooked superstars -- although roles in such garbage as "Serving Sara" and "Congo" certainly doesn't help. :-)

Does anyone know why the Love bug Special Edition is posted in the catalogue but not on the website? I really wanted to buy it from the website instead of sending it in the mail. (Faster delivery they say  )

No idea. But you can call the 1-800-362-4587 number. It's all automated and they ship about the same speed as the website. Just use the #s in the catalogue.

another question, I was looking at the current catalog of the Disney Movie Club and on the very last page there is a promotion code. Does anybody know what this promotion code pertains to? I tried it on the website and nothing happened. Maybe this is a stupid question but needed to know.

Not sure about the code thingy, but I just noticed they added The Love Bug to the site, finally. And it's still just $19.95.

Boy, you seem so damn sure, Luke - but I hate to disappoint you - Bicentennial Man is rated PG. :P

Other than that, those errors are all there. Bleh - what's even more depressing is I got the "Summer 2003" catalogue in the mail today, and it's exactly identical to the previous "Special Edition" catalogue, except for the first sheet that makes up the front and back covers, as well as the first and last pages. Everything else is exactly the same. Errors and all. *gag*
You wonder whether it's cheaper to make a general catalogue and change the covers, or to waste all that printing material for so many in in the first place (as I've received two of each catalogue edition so far). Yeesh...

Still, it's interesting to see the vast library of little-known Disney live-action films. I always knew they had tons of titles, but geez! Wonder how many units they sell, considering even Disney buffs like me don't even know about half this stuff? O_o
And it indeed is continuing today - more live-action B movies that'll just fade into obscurity over time - Freaky Friday, anyone? :D
Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."
