Is really Rosalind Chao in this Movie ?
Because IMDB says nothing about it.

Re: Godmothered
Since this was asked earlier, the hand-drawn animated sequence in the movie was done by Studio AKA, according to the credits. It's a British studio.

Re: Godmothered
Guys!!! There’s another 5 minutes animated scene as an alternate opening in the extras!!!
They clearly wanted to do all the Motherland scenes animated like in ‘Enchanted’, but for some reason they changed their minds...

Re: Godmothered
they probably changed their mind b/c they realized it would be too expensive...heck now I wonder if this was meant to be a sequel to Enchanted but with a whole new cast. But they decided at the last minute to just give it its own title and made it a stand alone film not related to it.

that's a lot of similarities and Im sure Im missing more, didn't feel like re-watching the trailer.
I could be wrong though...and its all just a big coincidence...I hope Im wrong.

Guys, I don't how in the heck you think this movie is supposed to replace Enchanted's sequel. Stop thinking things that are different are the same! My God, just because two things have some similarities doesn't mean they are the same and honestly Disney using this to replace a project is really reaching.

Re: Godmothered
Ok unprincess, you make a good case, but it's not like they were going to make Enchanted 2 and then changed it into Godmothered. Why? Because they have been talking about making an actual Enchanted 2 all along, and that's still being made as well. Also, why on earth would they make Enchanted 2 with a completely new character in a fairy godmother, and then another set of completely new characters in the single mom and her kids? Why would a re-tread of the original movie, but with all different characters, be a sequel to Enchanted? You have to have the same characters come back for it to be a sequel! Do you get what I mean? :/

Re: Godmothered
It was funny and I enjoyed the story but I didn’t find it amazing. And while it’s always nice to see some animation, I can’t be the only one who found the animation to be pretty awful, can I?
Re: Godmothered
RyGuy,
Nope... you weren't the only one. The animation was pretty low quality... it was not traditional, but a cross between computer generated and traditional, and the frame rate for it was either 3 or 6 frames per second, which made it look choppier (Disney animation is 12 to 24 frames per second). I can't tell exactly, cause Disney Plus won't do slow motion.
That aside... the character design was pretty ugly. Jane Curtain's animated counterpart looked like a corpse, and wrinklier than Izma in TENG. But whatever, they tried.
I don't think this movie was ever intended to be a sequel to Enchanted, but I suspect they started noticing it was a little too similar, and having an animated opening would have been TOO close to Enchanted, so they changed it.

Thanks for the detailed response. My thought was it didn’t seem very “fluid” and you explained why that would be the case (And your comment about Jane Curtains character made me laugh!)Marce82 wrote:RyGuy,

No prob, RyGuy!
I was not a fan of the entire movie...
I see you are in OC... I'm in LA. I can't wait for Disneyland to reopen... ugh.

Marce82, hiya neighbor! Yeah I agree. I was at Downtown Disney last night and it’s just so sad to see Disneyland over there empty. I will wait until it’s safe enough but if I had one wish it’d be to end the pandemic so we can get back to the good things in life.
Re: Godmothered
Amen, neighbor!
Stay safe! And go watch Enchanted... much better than Godmothered. Why isn't Enchanted on Disney+???

Re: Godmothered
What are your thoughts about the prospect of Enchanted getting a sequel? Personally I don't like that idea since I never thought Enchanted needed a continuation and it felt complete, a sequel feels redundant and unnecessary. Moreover I don't think that Disney handles their live action output well these days. Best case scenario it will be forgettable like Mary Poppins returns. Worst case scenario it will end up being awful like the remakes.Marce82 wrote: I don't think this movie was ever intended to be a sequel to Enchanted, but I suspect they started noticing it was a little too similar, and having an animated opening would have been TOO close to Enchanted, so they changed it.
Re: Godmothered
I think I would have been ok with a sequel, if they'd found the right story... which would have been very hard. The concept of Enchanted only works if you don't dissect it too much. We really didn't get a lot of background on Giselle or Andalasia for that matter... there was stuff to explore.
That said, it has been a little too long now... I'm not sure that was the kind of movie that could have a sequel this much later (for it's internal logic, but also because of it's cultural impact, or lack thereof?). And like some of the actors have expressed... these are ageless cartoons... and Amy Adams and J Marsden won't look the part forever.
I would be ok with them leaving Enchanted be a one time deal. BUT... I DO WANT TO SEE THE SONG THAT WAS CUT FROM THE ORIGINAL FILM! (and I know they shot it!)

Re: Godmothered
I just reeeeally wanna see Prince Edward again, he deserves more popularity(and merch).

b/c then they don't have to pay Amy Adams, James Marsden, and whatshisname from Grey's Anatomy the crazy high salaries they will demand to appear in a sequel to a film that's already more than 10 years old and most people who aren't Disney fans have probably forgotten about. A whole new cast of b-c-list actors is cheaper. Disney likes cheap. Also its easier to just repeat the same story from the first film than try to come up with a new plot for a sequel. Disney likes easy.Disney Duster wrote: why on earth would they make Enchanted 2 with a completely new character in a fairy godmother, and then another set of completely new characters in the single mom and her kids? I'd say that it's all fairytale films work like that because of the "Fairytale" logic and I can say the same about Frozen and look how the sequel turned out.Marce82 wrote:I think I would have been ok with a sequel, if they'd found the right story... which would have been very hard. I'd say that Enchanted did impact the way Disney do films now with all those meta commentaries about their brand, most notably in the remakes and Frozen. I guess Enchanted sort of started it but for some reason the general public doesn't seem to care about this film, or it never really reached the same impact and recognition as Mary Poppins or Who Framed Roger Rabbit (though I'd say that both are better).
I do wish they'd released the deleted songs though, since the sequel seems to be in a limbo, I think there's no other way we can listen to them.

Re: Godmothered
So...you think Disney was really gonna make Enchanted 2 about a fairy godmother who comes from Andalasia and finds a single mom? No Giselle, no Edward, no Robert?unprincess wrote:b/c then they don't have to pay Amy Adams, James Marsden, and whatshisname from Grey's Anatomy the crazy high salaries they will demand to appear in a sequel to a film that's already more than 10 years old and most people who aren't Disney fans have probably forgotten about. I could see that. Essentially they are continuing the concept.Disney Duster wrote:So...you think Disney was really gonna make Enchanted 2 about a fairy godmother who comes from Andalasia and finds a single mom? I hate to say it but I don’t think they will make Enchanted 2 at this point. My oldest was in utero when the first one came out and he turns 13 in a month. They haven’t started filming anything. At a minimum it’d be 15 years since the last release. I don’t think Enchanted had the same cultural impact as something like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or Mary Poppins where people will rush out to see a sequel - especially when you consider that something as iconic as Mary Poppins failed to attract the audience Disney hoped.
I’m at the point where the longer they wait, the LESS I want them to make a sequel because I fear they will just make Gisele old, bitter, and jaded. And that didn’t work out so well for Luke Skywalker. I suppose they could flip it and make most of the movie take place in Andalasia and have it be animated, but unless they can find better quality 2D animation than they found for Godmothered, it won’t feel like the same universe.
Re: Godmothered
You can listen to the soundtrack here. The score is by Rachel Portman and there are two songs performed by Jillian Shea Spaeder, who plays Isla Fisher's character's eldest daughter in the film: "Rise Up (Joy to the World)" and "Hero".
