Looking forward to this! Such a great cast!Dolly Parton and Netflix are extending their working relationship.
The country music icon will star in and executive produce a musical holiday movie for the streamer called Christmas on the Square. The movie, which also stars Christine Baranski, Jenifer Lewis, Treat Williams and Jeanine Mason and is directed by Debbie Allen (Grey's Anatomy), is set to premiere Nov. 22.
The release date for the movie is exactly one year after Netflix debuted Dolly Parton's Heartstrings, an anthology series based on Parton's songs. One of the eight installments, "These Old Bones," earned an Emmy nomination for outstanding TV movie earlier this year.
The It's a Wonderful Life-esque Christmas on the Square stars Christine Baranski (The Good Fight) as Regina, a rich and nasty woman who returns to her small hometown after her father’s death to evict everyone and sell the land to a mall developer — right before Christmas. However, after listening to stories of the local townsfolk, reconnecting with an old love, and accepting the guidance of an actual angel (Parton), Regina starts to have a change of heart.
The cast also includes Jenifer Lewis (Black-ish) as Margeline, a beauty shop owner and the closest thing Regina has to a friend; Treat Williams as Carl, the owner of the town's general store; Josh Segarra (Arrow) as a pastor who leads the town's pushback against Regina; Jeanine Mason (Roswell, New Mexico) as Felicity, an angel in training; Mary Lane Haskell (Hearstrings) as the pastor's wife, Jenna, a voice of calm in the town; Matthew Johnson (American Idol) as Mack, the owner of the local bar; and Selah Kimbro (Hidden Figures) Jones as Violet, Mack's daughter.
Parton's Sandollar Productions and Sam Haskell's Magnolia Hill Productions produce the movie in association with Warner Bros. TV (who also produce Heartstrings). Parton, Haskell, writer Maria Schlatter and Allen are the executive producers.

I'll see it because of Dolly. Christine Baranski is the only thing worth looking forward to, although Jenifer Lewis is always good for a laugh.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

Re: Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square
This is a cute little movie. It’s not a masterpiece or anything, just a fun Christmas musical with a lot of talented people attached. I forgot Josh Segarra was going to be in this— he’s so attractive, and I didn’t know he could sing.
Oh! And another thing— so I was watching the movie and an older lady in the ensemble just looked so familiar... I looked her up and it turned out it was the same actress who played Rudolfa, Santa’s evil daughter in the Once Upon a Christmas movies starring Kathy Ireland. Anybody remember those? I always loved Rudolfa— she kind of reminds me of CC Babcock from The Nanny. And the jingle, “Buy a piece of the pole,” is an all-time Christmas classic IMHO. https://youtu.be/GTddgqefAuk
