I don't know because it isn't sure that this edition will be on sale before the end of the year in France. If it'll be on sale, I'll see the quality of features, sound and picture and why not buy it ! :)

Am I that big a fan to get this right away? I dunno, I already have plans for a bunch of other DVDs, but if this comes at a low price and if I need my Mary Poppins fix sometime, I'll get it

Why do you have to wait the French release ? I live there, and I buy thr American ones when it's worth it, and most of the times it is, 'coz the R1 are better than ours sets really often.

I havn't got a multi-zone DVD player and I prefer to buy French DVD because they are really beautiful and very complete !

In addition we have exclusivites :
- we had collector's edition of Sleeping Beauty in April, 2002.
- we had the Black Cauldron in Widescreen Ratio !!! Worldwide exclusivity..
- and more, and more...

Although it is interesting to watch the disney films en francais I still prefer the wider range of bonus features aux Etats Unis.

I will definetly be buying Mary Poppins as it is one of my all time favorite disney movies.

One of Disney's best films ever, possibly one of the biggest and best DVD releases too... How can any serious fan pass on that one?!
Besides, I haven't gotten the original DVD version because I've been waiting for the special edition.

Maybe but in France, no real and great Gift Set (Platinum Titles) and no real inserts (just a chapter listing) whereas the R1s have great, larger and more beautiful inserts and booklets, including nice information, especially for the Platinum titles, like the Snow White insert which is gorgeous and in France, there ain't such a thing. :P just a stupid and not-even-pretty chapter listing.
And, it's my personnal opinion, the packaging are greater in R1s (excepting a few great digipack sets in France), and sometimes more bonus features on the R1s.
I have to tell you : I buy less and less my Disney DVDs in France now that I've learned how better were the R1s for many movies on DVD.
