Yes, that would be a reasonable exception. But the original dubbing should always be made available as well, in my opinion, even in that case.Sotiris wrote:The only reason redubbing should be allowed is if the original was heavily censored and they wanted to make an uncut, faithful dub and the voice actors weren't available to reprise their roles.

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
I forgot to mention that they redubbed Arabian Nights in Hebrew when the Platinum Edition came out. It was strange because the original dubbing never had the offensive line and it was out on VHS for more than 10 years prior.

I agree. Sailor Moon is one case I can think of. I'm fine with a re-dub of the original anime considering all the alterations and so on, but I wish there was a way to get the dub I grew up with on DVD / Blu-ray.D82 wrote:Yes, that would be a reasonable exception. Same thing happened in Sweden, and many other countries for the Platinum edition. Which means that the decision came from Disney's headoffice in USA. Just to be sure that all versions were okay and did not stick closely to the "cut of your hear" line in their translations. But most countries, including Sweden did not translate that line closely from the start.farerb wrote:I forgot to mention that they redubbed Arabian Nights in Hebrew when the Platinum Edition came out. In Sweden in 2004, luckily we had the same singer sing the whole song again.
The way they rerecorded the song in the American version is so unprofessional.

Funnily enough, the Brazilian (and probably Latin American_ Disney+ will premiere with only a limited selection of The Simpsons. Some higher up said they considered the show to be "key" to the release of a planned new streaming service and also more of a fit on that new service (probably Star).

In France, they have gotten rid of many cartoon shorts, full-length movies, and even the "Three Caballeros" series. If they can do it in France, then I fear for what they can do anywhere else, particularly in the US.

^ Do you think they were removed due to another company (whether another streaming service or cable) having the rights to those for a period of time?

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
I have no idea. I got the information from this French Disney fan site: https://www.chroniquedisney.fr/.blackcauldron85 wrote:^ Do you think they were removed due to another company (whether another streaming service or cable) having the rights to those for a period of time?
It's all in French, but basically, they are doing this rather stealthily. While some are for rights issues, such as for Iron Man, whose rights in France are held by a company called Groupe M, others are less understandable, particularly several from the heritage era, from the 1930s to the 1970s. It is argued that France has the poorest selection of content on Disney+ of any country in Europe.
In any case, here's a list of all the things that are no longer on Disney+ in France:
SHORTS:
The Grasshopper and the Ants
The Wise Little Hen
The Goddess of Spring
The Tortoise and the Hare
The Old Mill
The Ugly Duckling
Beach Picnic
Donald's Dog Laundry
Early To Bed
Chef Donald
A Knight For a Day
Pluto's Surprise Package
Winter Storage
All In a Nutshell
Food For Feudin'
Out of Scale
The New Neighbor
Beezy Bear
MOVIES:
The Living Desert
Secrets of Life
The Prince and the Pauper (1962 TV movie)
The Ugly Dachshund
The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin
Blackbeard's Ghost
Justin Morgan Had a Horse
The Castaway Cowboy
The Strongest Man In the World
The Apple Dumpling Gang
Gus
The Treasure of Matecumbe
Return From Witch Mountain
James and the Giant Peach
Ruby Bridges
The Greatest Game Ever Played
Read It and Weep
SERIES:
Legend of the Three Caballeros
I wouldn't be so concerned, except that what happened in France could easily happen anywhere else, particularly the removal of anything heritage-based, such as cartoon shorts or live-action movies.

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
The Three Caballeros having the "omg it's so offensive, this is offensive" statement is so funny considering Jose and Panchito are beloved icons in their country of origins, and other Latinos don't mind them. Maybe Chicanos or super enlightened white people find them offensive, but in their culture of origin they like them well enough.
But I guess sit's better to feed americanized hispanics like that fairy tale Hamilton or something, smh. Because Argentinians, Colombians, etc, can totally relate to the founding of the USA, right? Cause that's totally relevant to their culture.
Or how about the Emperor's New groove? That shit is way more offensive and yet wokes won't stop masturbating to it, claiming how it's the "perfect" latin representation. How can it be perfect when it refuses to represent anything of the culture, nor even cast hispanic actors in the roles?

That's actually funny because there has been an uproar because Hamilton isn't subtitled in any language at all

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
I wonder how Don Bluth feels about some of his movies that he made after leaving Disney now being owned by Disney. Not only Anastasia, but also Titan AE, Thumbelina and A Troll in Central Park.
