But you're probably right because I haven't seen it anywhere else and even there there's no link to any store. I'm guessing that's fan made.
Well, Bluray.com is usually reliable, but in this case I think they might've made a mistake. I think the original source of that artwork could be this page: https://www.deviantart.com/polyrhythms/ ... -449705492

Sorry, Disney Duster, I've tried to find it, but I couldn't. Maybe Sicoe Vlad or someone else can. I think the image you have comes from this article. On it they say the images are from an online Disney survey and I think it's possible the covers weren't bigger in the survey either. I think if we found out who the artist who drew them is, then maybe we could find a better resolution version on their website or one of their social accounts, but so far I haven't been able to find that info either. Anyway, if I find something, I'll let you know.

Thank you very much D82, for looking, and finding where it came from (though I knew it was from a survey where people chose what cover they wanted), and for saying how you think we could find it and that if you did find it you would show me!

I used the Snipping Tool on the computer to make a .jpg of that picture, and Google Reverse Image search says, "No other sizes of this image found."

For future reference, those covers are here:
viewtopic.php?t=4467 (not in high-res, though)(original source: https://www.mouseplanet.com/6515/Disneyland_Park_Update)

I've scoured the interwebs for you, and there just is no more!

And as far as the WALL-E covers, he's so darn cute that even the boring covers aren't as awful as some other films would be with such minimal designs! But the 4K Steelbook is my fave.

Sorry, buddy. I've been trying to look for a high resolution version myself, but so far, no luck. I think that this one was just a possible artwork for the Cinderella Platinum DVD, and Disney never released a high resolution version. I will try to make one in Photoshop, or at least one that will match it.
Marce82 wrote: And I SERIOUSLY doubt those were hand painted. The line quality screams "digital art".
Hey Marcey, long time no talk :) I think these illustrations are hand painted. I mean, they don't have that "quality", so to say that modern Disney covers have that could make them digital. They kinda feel hand-painted.

Hey Teppy!

Well... I will say that the solo images of Sebastian, Flounder and Scuttle are definitely hand painted.
The Ariel ones... it's questionable. Look at her fish tail (not the fins)... that pattern looks digital to me. And if they are indeed hand painted... they must have used a DAMN good scanner to get that kind of texture-less quality.

I can't say for sure unless I see a very high res version of those images.

But in the end... digital or hand made... awful artwork from a company like Disney.

Thank you Sicoe Vlad. But you have shown us artwork Disney never released officially, just preliminary artwork for possible covers, like The Little Mermaid ones, like Eric holding a sword, that are so awful, so I thought the preliminary Cinderella Platinum Edition covers might be online somewhere, too. If you make one in Photoshop that would be amazing! You're a great friend.

I forgot to say thank you to Amy for all she did to help me find the covers! What a great friend!

Wall-E:
1. 4K Steelbook - This one is really, really beautiful.
2. Blu-ray 2
3. Blu-ray 1
4. DVD (Japan)
5. Collector's Edition (France)
6. Blufans Exclusive Steelbook (China)
7. Future Shop Steelbook (Canada)

I was thinking of combining that image of Cinderella and the Prince dancing from the Platinum Edition, with the image of Cinderella and the Godmother from the Black Diamond VHS. Or maybe the one from the 1995 UK VHS, because her pose there resembles her pose in the transformation.

Yeah, surprisingly bad. Especially because in the 90s they made great covers.

Hey Teppy,

Do you know if that TLM artwork was used in the US/Canada? Or was it for another market?

Disney often uses outside artists... and from what I have often seen, they are way less particular when it's not for use in the USA (less particular: they don't seem to care as much if the art is poorly made, or often off model)

Heck... Disney Store Europe has it's own art department, and I 've seen some really crappy artwork from them. Not to the level of this TLM crap... but still very questionable.

I have no idea, really. I think these were preliminary character arts they could have used for the cover art. After seeing how crappy they were, they decided to stick with the 1997 poster art.    except for Ursula.

I didn't know they had a different art department for each territory. I imagined they used the same art for everything.

Hey Teppy,

I don't know exactly where they have art departments. I do know they had a specific art department for Europe (I know some people who work there), and I know certain South American countries have license from Disney to create artwork for merchandise. I'm sure they also use a lot of the US art, but they make their own too.

TLM, for example, had a Platinum cover in Latin America and Europe (depending on whether it was a 2 or 1 disc edition), and I never saw that artwork used in the US.

I can't speak for Asia, but pretty sure Japan creates a lot of their artwork as well.

That's a cool idea you had, that first idea, Sicoe Vlad! I don't like the way Cinderella is drawn on the cover with her doing the transformation pose but her foot in the air and the mice and Lucifer right at her other foot. If only you could enlarge the preliminary transformation pose and trace it into something really good. But I am a mean critic and would tell you if I didn't think you drew it well so maybe you don't want to do that. I've never seen your art. I'm even critical of my own art. I drew Belle very badly in my cover for Beauty and the Beast.

 But that's OK, you don't have to apologize. :)

And you're welcome, Disney Duster. :)

By the way, here are what I believe are preliminary covers for the first UK release of WALL-E on home video:

And I didn't know this existed, but it seems there are lenticular magnet covers you can put on your blu-ray steelbook:

Oh, but I think your art is pretty cool, Duster :) I will try to see, maybe I can draw the bottom half of the cover myself. :)

Is Rusell the main character? I get that feeling when I look at those covers.

After a long absence from this thread, I'm back. I've been busy... and I guess it's not as fun for me to comment on covers that aren't drawn; these Pixar covers are mostly renders of the models used for the films.

Up is a wonderful movie, I really love it. Glad to see it got some good covers. So here we go!

1) Blufans Steelbook China: Ha! I didn't think I would find a better cover than the US blu ray 1... and yet, here it is. Great use of scale and perspective. It shows the strongest icon of the film... they allow for breathing room, without looking empty. Wonderful cover!

2) Blu ray1: Love this cover. It has a sense of adventure (no pun!) and we know who the main character is. It has action, it has flying, it has the house, the balloons...My only issue: Kevin peeking in the corner... feels like an afterthought. God forbid they should have some empty space!

3) Best Buy Steelbook: Beautifully stylized. Subtle. Love the grape soda cap on the back. There is something off about the colors of the balloons... too saturated? Too much red? Not sure. Something feels off.

4) Dvd: good cover. It manages to include A LOT of information without feeling crammed. Blimps! Flying houses! Planes flown by dogs! Woo hoo! They also use the skewed title in a very fitting manner. I'm not putting this one above the blu ray cause this one is set in the tabletop jungle... and this movie is very much about the sky.

5) Blu 2: Eek. A poor half recycling of the dvd cover. Literally: half.

6) BestBuy/Future Shop steelbook: Nice concept, but clearly intended to be a poster, not a cover. Can you picture how tiny that house would be on a case cover? Barely visible.

7) Dvd Japan: somehow it feels both crammed and empty. Like the left side has no relevant information. The character's poses are very static... this is an adventure film, and it kinda looks boring here.

8 ) 4K: Russel isn't the main character. At least they put in some background, and I like the paint texture in top and bottom.

9) Blu 3: Again, Russel isn't the main character. No background? Could they be any lazier?

I won't do the others... they barely seem intended to be a home release cover.
