We don't know when Mulan will be released. A few DVD magazines in the UK have stated it is coming in 2004, but Disney UK has not announced anything to the media or retailers. The supplements have been passed by the BBFC so we know it is coming at some point. It may only be the supplements at the BBFC that have prompted the magazines to print their news.

Please note: Just because something is passed by the BBFC does not mean a disc is released soon after. Disney waited over 12 months to release the 2 disc Sleeping Beauty from when the extended supplements were classified. Pocahontas had its contents passed early this year, but it looks like the DVD will be released in or after Jan 2005.

It does seem odd Disney UK are sitting on this being as the first release of Mulan was withdrawn after a week or so due to the inclusion of the headbutt on the disc - as a result it's basically an unreleased animated classic in the UK!

Disney UK have 2 disc sets of Mulan, Alice in Wonderland, Pocahontas and Lilo and Stitch lined up, and Mary Poppins too based on the Australian release date - as well as the announced Aladdin. We also are supposed to have a 2 disc Chronological Donald released this year too, but that seems to have died a death. They'd better release all these 2 disc sets soon before they get even further behind.

[sigh] I wish Disney Home Video UK were even remotely competent.

Here you can see the Dutch cover of Mulan (release: november 24). Wasn't the regio 1 logo in black? And not red? :?
Why would they change that?

Yes! And I'm very happy with that. The more I look at 'our' cover the more I'm going to like it. I can't wait to have it! 8)

I emailed disneyUK last week about the Mulan SE, since we know Mulan 2 is getting released in the UK, I asked if the SE was getting released along with Mulan 2?
Short reply but it said "Mulan and Mulan 2 will be released 16th November"

Go to that play link, that is their Mulan listing for release on 15th of November, no Special Edition just the old one. Is that the one UK are getting??? hopefully not.

All the Mulan SE supplements have been passed by the BBFC, so it would appear we are getting it. Choices Direct only list "Mulan" while their listing for Mulan II is for "Mulan II Special Edition".

I put this down to poor information from Disney UK again, and perhaps no cover art yet being sent to retailers.

Read the BBFC Ongoing Thread it often reveals things way before Disney UK does (and sometimes Disney US!)

Oops! I forgot about them, well at least we've got a date.
I think it will be best when Amazon UK lists it, they usually give all correct info.

They have now added a Mulan/Mulan 2 set, still no word if its the Special Edition.

Well keep us updated.
It's strange that some sites (sendit, play) show the release with the older cover. Hopefully it's the SE. When I'm sure, I'll order it.

DVDanswers has the UK details and artwork from Disney, and it is the Special Edition :D

Edit: play.com has now changed their Mulan info to the 2-disc edition and listed Deleted scenes, Deleted song, DisneyPedia, Galleries, Storybaords, Fun facts as the extras.http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=ti ... &p=57&g=72

My Region 3 Mulan arrived last week, just watched it today for the first time (EVER!) and considering it's one of the newer classics it's really really good!!

Long live region 3!!
