There's a book on him called, "Two Guys Named Joe" and I remember it saying that Ranft was fine where he was. He did not want to direct and he was happy working without needing to be on top. It enabled him to take rounds through the studio and help everyone on their projects which is how the Ranft essence goes around. So even though he isn't credited for Ratatouille or WALL-E, there is a bit of Ranft inspiration in there. Heck, Ranft was the one who thought of a lonely trash compacting robot.DisneyAnimation88 wrote:I was thinking the same and how the film might have turned out had Joe Ranft been around to work on it. I would have loved to have seen Joe write and direct his own original film like Andrew Stanton and Pete Docter have.Semaj wrote:So both Cars movies lost their co-directors.
Every time I think of him, I wonder how much different Up or Toy Story 3 would have been. He was on board for Up before he passed away.
