I edited my list.

Still, I am asking, anyone know of any Australian princess covers for films before The Princess and the Frog?

Thank you D82 and DisneyBluLife.

Actually farerb the image for my avatar is from Disney books. But yes, that Australian cover took that book image and slightly changed it for their cover.

Hey everyone,

Sorry I have been MIA... I've been busy, but also... these CG covers don't really inspire as much passion in me as the hand drawn ones did. They are all generally good. So I will first post about Wreck it Ralph, and then about Frozen.

Here we go:

1) 4K: GREAT cover. No random cameos, only main characters. It manages to show 3 different worlds, and it even looks like Ralph is punching (or smashing down) through the cover and the damage is pixels. Very very cool.

2) 4 UHD Best Buy steelbook: love the 80s videogame frame and the pixelated Ralph. But yeah, this one is only for people who know the movie.

3) Dvd/blu ray: good composition, interesting background. I specially like the pixelated details here and there. Minus for including cameos from other videogames that were used as a ploy to get people to watch the movie (which had the opposite effect on me, I didn't see this movies till years after it came out... and loved it).

4) Mondo Steelbook. I like the drawing style, the composition and every character is on model. But the color scheme doesn't feel true to this film. I wouldnt want this cover.

5) 3D blu ray: ok composition. But this one suffers even MORE from all those random cameos. You can't tell that Fix it Felix is way more important here than Zonic... very cool lighting.

6) All the japanese covers: way too much emphasis on the candy world, which doesn't feel true to the film. The 4K one is different, but it's poor composition: The characters are blocking all the telling parts of the background... which makes the setting incomprehensible to the casual onlooker.

7) Blu ray 2: meh. I really like the poses for Ralph and Vanellope... but the overall concept here seems bland and lacking in depth.

8 ) dvd brazil: waaaaay too cutesy. For both characters.

I won't even bother with the heros/villains covers...

Aaaaaand Frozen...

It's interesting, cause I can tell a lot of these covers are re-used posters, and the tone at times don't match what the film is... particularly Elsa. Her expressions here generally make her look like a fun, sassy girl... and that's not who the character is at all. I guess these will be all about concept and layout...
As I am looking at them, I see a lot re-use them same artwork. So I won't do ALL of them.

Here we go:

1) Blu (DMC exclusive): lovely... almost like a metaphor for the movie... great composition and interesting use of color, good use of exaggerated features (that cape aint that long!). This film is about loner Elsa causing a winter to Arendelle. That is what this cover reflects (even if the film neither shows nor explains how Elsa does this).

2) Collector's Ed Germany: this one is kind of a tie for 1st place. Beautiful layout. It's a film about a girl coming to get her sister. Even though it's not exactly what happens in the film, it represents the overall intent well.

3) Blu ray Canada: its about the sisters... don't love the dual language title, but can't get around that. The bottom half feels appropriate in size, and it's ok to have those characters featured here.

4) Sing-along: Not an amazing cover, but it does make it more about the sisters... wish Olaf wasn't in the middle. Extra point for the ice castle. I don't love Kristoff at the bottom... makes it feel a little "man coming to save us"... again, not reflecting the movie well. And ugh... Elsa's dreamworks expression... ugh.

5) dvd Canada: pretty good. Makes it look like Elsa is conjuring up the title of the film And that group coming to get her... see 3D Uk notes below.

6) 3D UK: Pretty good. I like the bottom half... a lot of this film is about those 4 characters going on an adventure. Elsa is a separate entity. Good way to show both the ice castle and Arendelle. Minuses: looks a little like a photoshop collage. Ugh... Elsa's expression.

7) 4K: I would have put this one higher, but I don't like Elsa's pose and expression. I she dancing?? But I like the concept of making the cover about ONE character and the ice castle.

8 ) Blu ray Japan: it's a cool layout and concept, but the character poses look strange. All of them. Anna looks perplexed looking into camera... Elsa's pose is good though. Its ok.

9) Mondo steelbook: nice art, on model. Creative. Makes for a great poster. Not sure I like it as a cover. It's too stylized, it doesn't really reflect the film.

10) Blu ray: This one is ok. Elsa on one side makes it feel unbalanced.... the overly symmetrical characters below the title feel a little odd. Is Sven THAT important?? Anna looks very strange.

11) Zaavi steelbook: very similar to the dvd (see below), but lets cropped. We can actually see the poses for Hans and Elsa. But it makes it seem like all these characters are the same. like a group of friends going on an adventure. So not what the film is...

12) Dvd: it's ok... not a lot of depth. Olaf is a little too center stage... same with Sven. Makes it feel VERY kid oriented. It's a surprisingly bland cover... even the character poses look bland.

13) Disney Princess Cover Australia: ugh... it's like they got a mediocre artist to trace over a frame of film. And this artist doesn't quiet understand what they are drawing. Her hand being cropped off is odd, her expression is odd... the blurred CG background looks odd... just ODD.

14) 3D Blu Korea: just awful... a reused poster from that era when Disney had to hide their princess musicals. Nothing in it makes sense, we don't really get an impression of the characters. Just... awful

15) Sing Along UK: WTF????

I'm not doing the covers that are just a screengrab. Why bother.

Big Hero 6:

1. 4K Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook
2. Target Exclusive Steelbook - I like this one because of the idea of the superhero vs. loving friends angle.
3. Fnac Special Edition (France) - this one uses the 2.'s angle, but kind of the wrong way lol.
4. Zavvi Steelbook
5. Heroes Cover (France)
6. DVD - It's funny.
7. Blu-ray (Brazil)
8. 3D Blu-ray (Hong Kong)
9. DVD (Korea)
10. Blu-ray (Japan)
11. Steelbook 3 (China) - I'm guessing this is supposed to be lentiuclar or something, otherwise that blurry background makes no sense and is ugly to boot.
12. 3D Blu-ray (Korea)
13. Blu-ray (Korea)
14. Rental version (Japan)
15. Heroes Cover (UK)
16. 4K UHD
17. Blu-ray
18. Best Buy Lenticular Cover
19. Steelbook 2 (China)
20. Steelbook 1 (China)

Hey everyone,

Ok, I will be early to the party this time. First, a disclaimer: I have seen Big Hero 6, but only once. I liked it ok, but I guess I'm overdue for second viewing. It may affect my impression of the covers... here we go! (and darn, there are so many)

1) Zaavi steelbook: Oh, NOW we are talking! I wish the robot (name???)'s arm wasnt cropped off, but what a great cover. Super dynamic, shows off the background, makes it clear who the leads are, and hints at the supporting cast. Great cover.

2) 3D blu Hong Kong: very similar to the Zaavi steelbook, but with a very cool color scheme. I guess we can tie this one for first place, since it's almost the same.

3) Target Steelbook: Pretty good... dynamic pose, cool background... but what are they being reflected on??? Not sure this was a good idea for a cover. The lower half seems like wasted space, specially considering how loaded the upper half is.

4) 4K Best Buy Steelbook: this one is a "good in theory": it's a stylized 2D rendering, which is a great idea. Sadly, it feels like it is recycling the style from The Incredibles mixed with The Rocketeer. A cool cover, but loses a lot of points for that in my book.

5) Rental version Japan: interesting choice to have the characters facing away from us. Emphasis on the super cool background. It's intriguing... if I hadn't seen this movie, this cover would entice me to check it out.

6) Blu Ray Brazil: this one is good, very similar to the Zaavi... but there is something off here. Something about the perspective and the scale. The ratio of Baymax (ha! Remembered the name!)'s size ion relation to the other characters seems off... same thing with the scale of the city below them... something doesn't look right.

7) Fnac France: it's ok... but what is it with these covers and the reflective street?? Was that a thing in the movie? Similar issues to the Target Steelbook, only less dynamic.

8 ) Steelbook 3 China: it kinda makes the very cool city design look bland... even if it was lenticular. Poor composition: the characters are barely noticeable. Meh.

9) 4K UHD: mildly passable. Bland background. Very basic.

10) Blu ray: Seriously? This is it? Wanna try at least, Disney? Whatever. This movies deserves better.

11) dvd: painfully bland. This would work as a teaser poster, not as a cover. IT IS OK TO TAKE YOURSELF SERIOUSLY, DISNEY. NOT EVERYTHING IS A JOKE. They didnt even bother with a background. (all three US original releases of this film have pathetic covers)

12) Blu ray Japan: um.... err.... no idea where to place this one. What is this cover??? Very odd choice. And lazy.

13) Best Buy lenticular: I wonder what lenticular effect it had. Cause as is, the character is barely posed. THis is as bland as they come.

Not gonna bother with the Korean or the other Chinese releases... it's just more clip art of characters with no background.

Man, they were LAZY with a lot of these covers! And it's not like they even have to draw them... the assets already exist, they just need to pose and render them... how easy is that????

It reminded me of The Rocketeer as well, but I guess I feel like as long as a cover is good, originality points don't always take away.

True, same for me!

Yeah but...that means you didn't read mine to know his name was Baymax! Unless you read mine after you posted ;) Either way, I'm not upset, I'm just saying I always read everyone's, but you don't have to, I'm not really bothered by it.

1. Zavvi Steelbook
2. Blu-ray
3. Target Exclusive Steelbook
4. 3D Blu-ray (Korea)
5. DVD (Korea) ~ Naturally I wish Tadashi was on more than just this one cover. The covers that feature a reflection of Baymax and Hiro--they should've had Tadashi in Baymax's place in the reflection, imo, since Baymax represents Tadashi.
6. Heroes Cover (UK)
7. Blu-ray (Korea)
8. Steelbook 2 (China)
9. DVD
10. Heroes Cover (France)
11. 4K Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook
12. Blu-ray (Brazil)
13. 3D Blu-ray (Hong Kong)
14. Rental Version (Japan)
15. Best Buy Lenticular Cover
16. Fnac Special Edition (France)
17. Blu-ray (Japan)
18. 4K UHD
19. Steelbook 1 (China)
20. Steelbook 3 (China)

Yes, it is. I guess Hiro and Baymax's poses are the same as in the Rental Version from Japan and this other lenticular slipcover from Korea that I guess has a similar lenticular effect. Here are the three of them so you can compare:

The Best Buy Lenticular Cover shows these two images of Baymax:

By the way, the first cover from China, which I've just learned is from a company called Blufans that like Zavvi sells steelbooks with exclusive artwork, is also quite cool:

I don't get the way the first cover from China changes from one picture to another.

Really? I'm sorry if I did that. But could you tell me where? I've checked my message and I don't find it.
Disney Duster wrote:I don't get the way the first cover from China changes from one picture to another.
There's a slipcover that has just Baymax's armour and the rest of it is transparent. And there's a steelbook underneath that has Baymax without armour. If the slipcover is placed on the steelbook like in the first picture, Baymax turns into a superhero. The second picture shows the steelbook and the slipcover separately. And the third one shows the slipcover in the process of being removed from the steelbook and also the front and the back of the edition. I know it can be difficult to understand just by looking at the pictures. I hope I have explained myself well enough as I'm not sure I've chosen the right words given that I don't have much vocabulary to talk about specific things like this.
