Alright I guess it's about time for me to post in here. I've kind of been meaning to do it for a while and now that it's 2:30am and I'm not tired because I had some caffeine at midnight I suppose it's as good a time as ever. :P

My name's Ryan, I'm 15, male, and get weird looks for buying Disney movies.

Whoa I just discovered the "View more Emoticons" thingy. Cool. Haha alright anyways....

The first Disney movie I remember seeing in theaters is Aladdin and I loved it and umm I really don't remember seeing any others in theaters as a little kid but oh well.

I was really more of a video watcher than theater-goer. I remember the day The Lion King came out on VHS my mom came and picked me up from school and we went to Target and bought it and I was so happy, lol. But I remember always watching Disney VHS tapes. I usually watched one every day. Robin Hood, Fox and the Hound, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, all three Aladdin movies, The Lion King, Cinderella, 101 Dalmatians, and the list goes on and on. Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of enjoying classics such as Alice in Wonderland or Sleeping Beauty but I'll get to that later.

I have a big family and so I've almost always shared a room with one or more of my siblings. For a few years it was with my older brother who liked to control the room and I really couldn't watch any movies in there or anything. I didn't like going out into the living room or wherever to watch them because I have many young siblings and anywhere other than my room is crazy, lol. So anyways about a year ago I guess I started sharing a room with my younger brother instead and so I decided to start watching some of the old Disney VHS tapes. The first one I remember watching was Beauty and the Beast, and when I watched it, I was absolutely amazed. I loved it. My love for Disney was reborn and I began watching many more of the old tapes in the following weeks.

It was either last August or September when I bought a DVD player. At that point I began buying the old and new Disney movies that I love. This has also been a great chance for me to watch and own the classics that I didn't before (the reason for that simply being that my mom didn't buy them, lol). I got Alice in Wonderland through Disney's Buy 3 Get 1 Free deal this past winter. I absolutely adore the movie. I'm anxiously awaiting the Sleeping Beauty release in September as I still haven't seen that. I bought the Black Cauldron today and while it doesn't seem like a Disney movie to me, I love it. I plan to, over time, continue purchasing these classics which I was never able to see. Right now I'm most interested in getting The Sword in the Stone. I'm quite thankful for Disney's Gold Collection which is providing me all of these wonderful movies at great prices.

I'm quite fond of all of the newer movies that Disney has been putting out like Lilo & Stitch and Treasure Planet. I can't imagine why TP tanked at the box office. It's one of my favorite Disney movies.

Oh yeah that reminds me, I'll list some of my favorite Disney animated movies. Beauty and the Beast is #1 and then after that they're not in order. So yeah Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Aladdin, Treasure Planet, Lilo & Stitch, and many more which I don't want to list now because it's nearly 3am, lol. :goofy: Hyuck yuck.

Okay now more about my non-Disney life, heh. I'm a Christian, meaning I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins to take the punishment for sin. I'm far far far from perfect and struggle so much but I'm hanging in there. Umm I'm a big Dallas Mavericks fan (which is a basketball team for those who didn't know).

I loooove Star Wars. Mainly the old ones but the new ones are alright and now that Episode III is shooting I'm getting excited about that. I love the Lord of the Rings movies. I wouldn't say I'm a big fan because I prefer the Star Wars universe for example to the LOTR universe. Althought they're both quite cool. Actually I really like the LOTR universe. Alright anyways...*stops babbling about SW and LOTR* :brick:

I like reading. If I get a good book I usually can't put it down until it's finished. My favorite book series is the Harry Potter series. I think the books are tons of fun.

Uhhh I'm really bad at making decisions, I'm getting desperate for info now, uhh I like smilies but am too lazy to copy/paste the sources to use the ones that Prince Phillip found. Oh yeah I love The Sims. I don't have any expansions yet but that's because of my expensive dvd addiction, lol. I say lol alot. I've stayed up past 3 for the past 4-5 nights. I don't like school but oh well tough for me. I hate hate hate getting up early. Oh yeah and I'm homeschooled so my school only takes an hour or two to finish and I always sleep until at least 10. But yeah, 10 is too early for me. I'm spoiled, aren't I? lol. :float:

Doo dee doo, I babysit my siblings alot and it's not fun. Wow I'm running out of things to say so that's probably a sign that I should STOP TALKING AND STEP AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. :!:

*whew* Alright umm smilies are cool. :ears:

House of Mouse is cool.

Lizzie Mcguire is a good show.

W00t is fun to say. :stitch:

Okay I'm gonna go perambulate! *does arm thing*

*realizes that that last thing is an inside joke that no one here will understand*

*shrugs*

Well, unfortunately I haven't posted a whole lot on Luke's site. I visit frequently, just don't have a whole lot of info to provide. It is a great site and I really enjoy reading everyone's posts.

But anyway I'm a 24 year old married man (wow that sounds old), no kids yet...but soon hopefully and I've been heavily into disney for about a year and a half now...

About a year and a half ago, was my first trip to DisneyWorld and I loved it. I watched disney movies as a kid but was never to deeply into them, never really had a yearning to go to DisneyWorld, but that trip really changed me. I really let myself be a kid there and what an awesome experience. That was about the time BATB was on pre-order and my wife bought the dvd...since watching that movie I've been heavily into buying the classic DVD's. The trip really changed me and I can't wait to have kids to enjoy the magic with them.

Firstly, Welcome Gwilly! :)

Second, Gwilly said he was 24 and married. Stash is 21 and can't see himself being married by 2006(7).
What would this wretched world be like without Disney?

Welcome, GW.

There are a few of us "older" folk on here that are married with kids...and I must say that curling up on the floor to watch a Disney DVD w/ my little girl is so worth it

As a couple others have said, drop by when you can and chime in on some of the threads. I think I have proven on occassion that you can contribute even if your post isn't offering much "substance" 8)

Yes there is!

Exclusive Canadian release with horrible distribution, not easily located but it's out there. It includes 3 classic television specials at one hour each, I'm sure you can find more details at Amazon.ca - I ordered it last month and it's great!

I think you simply misinterpreted STASHONE's comment, MickeyMouseBoy. Don't think he was trying to be rude at all. Both of you should let it go, I think.

Well, I just registered (I've actually lurked around much longer before registering today...don't know why I put off registration  ) but here goes:

My name is Beverly (guess my parents didn't think of the old phrase "Money is the root of evil" when I was born...), and I'm 17.

The first Disney movie I saw was Alice in Wonderland, when my parents had it taped from TV, but I never saw any Disney films in theaters.

The next couple of films I watched throughout my childhood were mainly Walt's classics (Cinderella, Bambi, Pinocchio, the Disney-Disney ones), though I did see the post-Disney cartoons like Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King.
Prince Phillip wrote:When Hercules came out, I met my first real disappointment. I am half Greek and at the time I was really digging into my roots and was fascinated by the mythology, which I think Disney made a mockery of. I, at this point was fed up with Disney. Then Mulan came out and I really enjoyed that.
My sister liked Hercules when it came out, but I just didn't plain like it. Maybe it was all those times when I used to borrow books on Greek and Roman mythologies from the local library as a kid.

As for Mulan...well, I'm Chinese, and I already knew about the legend of Mulan, from reading books about the story, listening to my mom tell it to me, and watching an old, Chinese opera version on video tape as a child. But when I saw this...the first thing that came to my mind was, "Why did Disney had to add in Mushu? Mulan didn't need no stinkin' guardian, she already knew how to kick some ass before joining the army!" So I know the feelings you had on Hercules, Prince Phillip.

Aside from the movies, one of my favorite games is Kingdom Hearts. I haven't been able to put down the controller for the past few weeks.

Welcome to the site, Beverly.

Mulan is one of the few Disney Animated Classics that I have yet to see, but it's on my immediate list of "Must Sees".

My name is John and I'm 13 years old. I started liking Disney when I was very young. I remember that I use to watch shows on the Disney Channel
than the shows on PBS because there is only one dinosaur who is still alive and his name aint Barney. The first Disney movie I saw in theaters was Aladdin and that was a good movie. When growing up I saw movies like Lion King, The Great Mouse Detective, Oliver & Company (1996 reissue), and others. Soon when I was older I heard about a movie called Song of the South and that it was banned from release in the US. The only parts of Song of the South that I would have seen were from singalong songs videos, and shows during Vault Disney. Either from that, I never seen Song of the South and I hope one day it will be released on video and DVD and if it does that the DVD will be better than all the Disbey DVDs put together.
For my non-Disney life, I like reading books and hope that one day that Disney would slow down on the sequels and make movies based on some really good books. Thats how Disney missed their chance to make movies from the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.
Well I like Disney and I hope it will last forever.
