My list
1. Dance of the Hours - The most cartoony segment. You have a bunch of animals active at certain times of the day but everything gets screwed up with a heart-warming but funny romantic between a hippo and an alligator.
2. The Sorcerer's Apprentice - Perhaps Mickey's best appearance and great showcase of this character: a shy but curious guy who gets in over his head.
3. Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria - Great show of the neverending struggle between good and evil. Chernobog is an impressive creation.
4. Rite of Spring - The origin of life and the rise and fall of the dinosaurus. What's not to love. The T-rex vs Stegosaurus fight is one of the best parts of the whole film.
5. Pastoral Symphony - A bit cheesy with the centaur dating but also has cool parts like the Zeus attack
6. Nutcracker Suite - Made up of mini segments with some weaker than others
7. Toccata En Fuge - Way too abstract for my taste

Re: Ranking the Fantasia segments
1. The Nutcracker Suite
2. Dance of the Hours ~ Much-needed levity for this film. And it never ages, imo.
3. Rite of Spring ~ This was definitely my favorite as a child. I guess because I really loved The Land Before Time, I just had a general interest in dinosaurs when I was very young. My favorite part is the ending when all the creatures are walking in the desert and then the volcano explodes after they're all dead; there's so much tension and the music really suits the images onscreen.
4. Pastoral Symphony ~ My favorite part are the pegasi.
5. Night On Bald Mountain / Ave Maria
6. The Sorcerer's Apprentice ~ I don't know why, I just never liked this. Mickey is so unlikable here, which might be why I've never been fond of the character. I guess the "murder" of the brooms sort of freaked me out as a child. I always found it to be very dark.
7. Toccata and Fugue in D Minor

Katy Perry ~ "bandaid"

Re: Ranking the Fantasia segments
1. The Sorcerer's Apprentice - the cliche answer but it's a classic for a reason and the only one that really tells a story.
2. Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria - amazing visuals and so powerful. The second half is less interesting to me but it's still a good finale.
3. The Nutcracker Suite - my favorite musical pieces from this film and I love the gorgeous fairies and portrayal of nature.
4. Dance of the Hours - I enjoy the characters a lot in this and it's a fun comedic piece which is a nice break from most of the rest of the segments.
5. Pastoral Symphony - I like seeing Disney's take on Greek Mythology that isn't Superman...I mean Hercules.
6. Toccata En Fuge - normally this would be dead last except I dislike one segment even more
7. Rite of Spring - I cannot stand this one. I am not a fan of dinosaurs and to top it off, this is the longest segment in the whole film which is why even Tocatta En Fuge ranks higher for me.

Re: Ranking the Fantasia segments
Good idea for a thread, willard! This is my ranking:
1. The Sorcerer's Apprentice: I love Mickey and I think the storytelling here is great and the visuals fit the music really well.
2. Nutcracker Suite: Like JeanGreyForever, the music from this segment is my favorite from the film and it's full of beautiful images.
3. Pastoral Symphony: The style is classic Disney and it's quite entertaining.
4. Dance of the Hours: The way it parodies ballet is quite funny and the music is great.
5. Toccata and Fugue in D Minor: When I was a child, I'd probably had rank it last, but the latest times I've watched it I've really enjoyed how abstract and artistic it is. The shots with the instruments at the beginning are also quite imaginative.
6. Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria: I've never been too fond of this segment, maybe because I used to fast forward the entire first part because of my little brother who was really scared of Chernabog, but I think this is actually a great segment with impressive visuals.
7. Rite of Spring: This is the one I've always found the most boring, but it's really well made too.
