Live-Action SURVIVOR Round 2.1

Post by AwallaceUNC »

Round 1 - Winner: Pollyanna

We've completed the first of three rounds in Live-Action Survivor! Now, we set out to pick the movie that will square off one-on-one against Pollyanna for the ultimate championship in Round 3.

Round 1 dealt with movies made prior to 1990 (I had to make the slight change from the site's grouping, which breaks at 1980, to slightly even out the two groupings). Round 2 will concern movies made from 1990 to the present day.

Live-action films have already been defined for us by Luke's pages for them here on the site. The complete list of films made between 1990 and today can be found at the bottom here (this list also includes movies made between 1980-1990).

It works just like the Survivor TV show. Basically, come on here once every 2 days and vote for the live-action Disney film that you want to vote off, i.e., the one that you like the least. Everyone is welcome!!

At the end of the sub-round, I'll come on here and announce which films got voted off, and a new thread will start for the next sub-round. This gets to be a lot of fun, especially when it gets down to the wire!

You can talk about your reasons for your vote, but I ask that you put the full title of what you're voting for in bold letters so that it's easy for me to count them all in a hurry.

As always, I ask that you let me make the final announcement of each sub-round's winner, so as to avoid confusion/ambiguity. I occasionally come in a little late, but for the most part, I'm usually able to come in and make the announcement shortly after the round ends.

There are even more films in Round 2 than there were in Round 1 (six more, in fact)! Round 2 will be structured slightly differently. Three movies will be cast off in each of the first 5 sub-rounds (the three with the most votes to leave). After that, two films will leave in each sub-round, until we reach the top 10. Make sense?

So, Survivors ready?? Come on in and vote off ONLY ONE of these 58 movies:

The Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement
Miracle
The Haunted Mansion
Freaky Friday (2003)
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
The Lizzie McGuire Movie
Holes
The Santa Clause 2
Tuck Everlasting
The Country Bears
The Rookie
Snow Dogs
Max Keeble's Big Move
The Princess Diaries
102 Dalmatians
Remember The Titans
Disney’s The Kid
Inspector Gadget
My Favorite Martian
Mighty Joe Young
I’ll Be Home For Christmas
Air Bud: Golden Receiver
The Parent Trap (1998)
Mr. Magoo
Flubber
RocketMan
Air Bud
George of the Jungle
Jungle 2 Jungle
That Darn Cat
101 Dalmatians (1996)
D3: The Mighty Ducks
First Kid
Homeward Bound II: Lost In San Francisco
Muppet Treasure Island
Tom and Huck
The Big Green
Tall Tale
Man Of The House
Heavyweights
Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book
The Santa Clause
Angels In The Outfield
D2: The Mighty Ducks
Blank Check
Iron Will
The Three Musketeers (1993)
Cool Runnings
Hocus Pocus
The Adventures Of Huck Finn
Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993)
The Mighty Ducks
The Muppet Christmas Carol
Honey, I Blew Up The Kid
Newsies
The Rocketeer
White Fang
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?*

Voting ends at midnight (EASTERN TIME) on Saturday, September 11th.

*A note on Roger Rabbit: There's likely to be a divided opinion over whether this should be included. Not only was it originally released under Touchstone Pictures, but it also comes from the late 1980s. However, it has since been embraced by Disney and Disney fans as a Disney film. The only other movie to share this status is The Nightmare Before Christmas, which was also included in our Other Animation game. Also, the Touchstone/Hollywood Survivor game currently going on is currently not including these films, and there have also been many, many requests to include it in this game. Therefore, I've decided to. If you are one who disagrees, I understand where you are coming from, but I've decided to include it. Thanks for understanding. :)

Yay-ah! Round Two!!!!

Well, I would have preferred Freaky Friday winning Round One, but I'll have to watch Pollyanna. For now, The Country Bears has gotta go.

Note: Thanks for mentioning the Touchstone/Hollywood thing Aaron. If you'd like to vote for the round one auditions, please come between now and Tuesday to vote. We need 10 votes and we're a few short!

Haven't seen 17 of the 58, but I'm not sure if that's more or less than last time. Anyway, I'll go with Flubber here. So disappointing.

You know, I used to love Flubber when I was 7. But I watched it over Fourth of July weekend and... :P BLECH! But I think Counrty Bears is THE worst Disney film EVER.

Where to start, Where to start. Two good picks already. I am used to some very difficult heart wrenching decisions from late in Round 1. Now there are thirty or so movies deserving of a vote.

Homeward Bound:The Incredible Journey Thought the original was so much better.(Much like Flubber)

There's a decent amount I haven't seen as well. The early rounds are tough because there is so much to choose between. I think I'll vote off Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. I've seen the movie, I've read the book, and I don't care for either.

JustMyself- I voted in the auditions last night. :)

I think this round should be more interesting than the last, simply because there are more films that more people have seen (and are fresher on their minds), making it more competitive. Hopefully these first few rounds won't be as alliance-driven this time, though.

Wow that wasnt even coordinated. Secret Disney Man - you have got to be kidding. The remake was horrible. Totally lacking in the heart of the original, badly voiced. But I guess I do need to figure out what movies I would like to protect.

Actually, Aaron and I never communicated to vote off/save something. Myself, Price Eric, Leia, and Disney Guru formed the Alliance to rid Mary Poppins from the first game. There currently is no alliance in this game although you never know.
