Wow, only 13K views in the last 24 hours ..? That’s very low for a high-budget Disney (theatrical) film.

I mean don’t get me wrong, we already all expected for quite some time this movie to be the next « Wrinkle in Time » without having too many doubts about it, but even with that considered, that’s pretty low..

With the launch of other competitive streaming services especially HBOmax (which will bring its own original content to the game) and peacock, this blockbuster-like movie has its risks to be totally overshadowed.

(I’m personally not looking forward to it either)

We’ll see about that..

^Obviously when they built the Manor, this was supposed to be a theatrically-released film. The way Disney makes $ off of this film will be different now. So if the film is successful on Disney+, would they consider a sequel, thus re-using the Manor? And/Or would they rent out the Manor to other film productions? And is it Kenneth B.'s company that owns the actual house, not Disney, or does Disney; do they share it?

I supect this movie was heavly changed during Reshoots .

I don’t even think the orginal version hade Artemis Fowl I in it.

My theory is Colin Farrell was added during Reshoots and i think Opal Koboi might also be a Reshoot addition.

I supect a LOT of studio medling was involed in this.

I still haven’t read the books (let’s make it clear), but I’ve been through the plot of the first volume.. And, as a plot, it’s not uninteresting! But yeah now I understand the fans reaction to the last trailers.. It looks like Disney went for something different (apparently). The character of Artemis is mischievous yes, but he also really acts with selfish reasons at first, I don’t know if Disney felt it was too out of their league, hum..

Artemis I was always in the movie. From the beginning they announced this was an adaptation of the first book and the Arctic Incident and thus his father plays a decently large part in the second book. My guess is Farrell was always scheduled to shoot his scenes during reshoots. Either that or he replaced another actor. But no actor was ever announced prior so most likely the fathers scenes were always planned to be shot later on.

^ The part where they talked about future films in the franchise if the first film does well: I'm wondering how Disney will know how this film is doing. Obviously there will be reviews, and people talking about it on social media and forums. But it's not having a digital-rental/purchase option like Trolls World Tour did. I don't know if one measure will be how many new sign-ups Disney+ has in June...I know that there will be merchandise (Pops & books, at the very least). I guess for a streaming-only release, just word of mouth & merch sales = letting Disney know people want a 2nd film??

When it comes to streaming services, what matters most are the viewing numbers. Those aren't divulged to the public, but they will know if they are above their expectations. I'm sure they have set a threshold for what constitutes good, average, and poor performance based on those numbers.

The few reviews this article rounded up aren't good. I'm still looking forward to watching it.

Yikes! Those reviews are pretty rough. While I never expected the film to do justice to the books, I was hoping it would at least be entertaining and fun. I'm reserving judgment until I get a chance to watch it, but it doesn't sound good.

Apparently, this scene has been cut and it's no longer in the movie. That's too bad; that fairy transformation was the most interesting visual in the trailers.
