Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
Interesting how both of these are produced by Warner Bros, so you'd think they would go to HBO Max instead of being sold to a competitor. But it's nice to see Disney working with outside studios (Diary of a Future President is similarly produced by a different company, CBS Television) and that WB and Disney are willing to work together.

^ Yeah, I wonder if the deal was already in place before HBO Max's lineup was finalized? The space show looks awesome, so I'm looking forward to that.
I had meant to post about this new D+ game show:
The Big Fib: a kid starts by playing a warm-up round where a silly liar and an authentic expert share fabulous fibs and fun facts. Can the kid determine which person is the fibber?

Just watched Aladdin and B&TB on Disney+ in 4K, I think the format really suits hand drawn animation. I really hope they decide to upgrade some other classics, I know Mulan was on the way this year. Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe btw. <3

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
I looked at the "Disney Through the Decades" section and I noticed "Dumbo" is conspicuously absent from the 1940s section, even though it's still available by doing a search. Also, "The Skeleton Dance" is gone entirely.
Also, curiously, "Canine Caddy", once shown as a Mickey cartoon, even though it's under Pluto's filmography, is depicted as a Pluto cartoon, and, strangely enough, with the post-1947 Pluto theme over the credits, even though it came out in 1941.

^ Does Dumbo show up under a different decade by mistake? On Movies Anywhere when I sort in chronological order, Dumbo is between Brave & John Carter!! I could've sworn that it used to show in the 1970s section, chronologically on MA. Why can't these apps get its date right?!

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
When was Skeleton Dance ever on Disney+?
No shorts are listed for release for June. Seriously why do they keep holding out? May and June are disappointing compared to April.

It was apparently there on its launch date, but has since quietly been removed.willard wrote:When was Skeleton Dance ever on Disney+?

As for the releases in June, there are only so many cartoon shorts they did, and some of them were violent or otherwise politically correct and probably unfit for release.
But yes, they really should release more pre-1947 Pluto cartoons, more non-sport Goofy cartoons, and a LOT more black-and-white Mickey Mouse cartoons.

CHECK THIS OUT!
Cord Cutters News is reporting that Warner Bros. has sold the straight-to-streaming service rights for its upcoming film "Clouds" to Disney+! Which is weird, considering that WarnerMedia's own HBO Max streaming service will launch on May 27th.
No current word is available as to when "Clouds" will premiere on Disney+.

At first, I was like “why the hell would they do that?” But I guess Warner Bros will make more money selling the title to Disney than they would “selling” it to HBO Max. Plus, HBO Max has, I think, a lot more original content primed for its launch than Disney+ did and a much bigger back catalogue than Disney has access to, and Disney+ is clearly desperate for content right now (Frozen, Onward, Episode IX, Hamilton, Taylor Swift) so they are probably very eager buyers for anything that fits “the brand.”NeoSuperBlissey wrote:CHECK THIS OUT!

I’m very excited for HBO Max btw. I haven’t had TCM in years but I expect HBO Max’s curated line-up of classic films will keep me sated.
Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
Warner is still keen to sell their works to other streaming services, it seems. Netflix has Green Eggs and Ham, and the new Animaniacs is still going to Hulu.

Finally Disney is learning its lesson. ^^ I know they announced they would eventually do it, but we all thought the rectification to be made for early 2020 and it seems it took them more time than expected to put their plan to execution..
Now we just have to petition (I guess ^^) and hope they’ll do the same for « The Little Mermaid » series, « Chip ‘n’ Dale - Rescue Rangers » and « The Goof Troop » which have been BEAUTIFULLY remastered but cropped in the process... :-/

More good news for Simpsons fans. The day after the aspect ratio fix on the early seasons takes effect (May 28th), the Oscar-nominated short film "The Longest Daycare" will become available on D+ on May 29th.

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
It's actually a little funny that they felt the need to censor one of their own Disney Channel shows.

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
Ridiculous. No one would have noticed or cared. It just seems like the people in charge are oversensitive themselves. And now with HBO Max, Disney should really be careful not to drive people off.
Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
I now saw the tweet and someone there checked and said that it was always censored, so it's the same case as Lilo & Stitch.

^ Oh, I hadn't seen that! I guess it's weird that the Wardrobe department or someone didn't initially tell her to put on a different shirt. But good detective work, farerb!!

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
I also hope that come July, they will put out some vintage Disneyland material for its 65th, including the premiere "Disneyland" episode "The Disneyland Story" (which may be the closest we will get to having "Song of the South" on Disney Plus (the Laughing Place scene in that movie is shown in black-and-white)) and the opening day telecast, "Dateline: Disneyland".
