The Unexplainable Disappearance of Mars Patel

Post by Sotiris »

Disney+ has acquired the adaptation of the ‘The Unexplainable Disappearance of Mars Patel’ podcast. This series will be produced by Anonymous Content and Paramount TV, with Alix Madigan and Gen–Z Media co-producing the series. Joe Ballarini is writing the pilot and Jenny Turner Hall is directing it.

The original ‘The Unexplainable Disappearance of Mars Patel’ podcast is a scripted podcast for middle school-aged kids, performed by middle school-aged kids. A fun, serial mystery described as Goonies meets Spy Kids meets Stranger Things for 8-12-year-olds, the story follows young Mars Patel whose search for his missing friends leads him to a mysterious school for gifted students and beyond.

David Kreizman (‘All My Children,’ ‘Days of Our Lives’) serves as head writer, with Benjamin Strouse executive producing. Chris Tarry (‘Merlin’), who is one of the creators behind the original podcast, is also attached to the adaptation. Jenny Turner Hall (‘Case #5930’) is an executive producer, writer, and director on the series.

So this isn't a Disney product, it'll just be shown on Disney+? How many other shows are like that on Disney+ (besides Nat Geo)?

It's commissioned by Disney, but produced by a non-Disney studio. It happens on occasion. Diary of a Future President, for example, is produced by CBS Television.

^Thank you! I have yet to watch that, but now that you say that, I think I remember reading that it was CBS.
