I hope that too. Well, at least they start to mention the movie. It's a shame there wasn't any concept art or something in any of the photos that accompanied those quotes, except for the one already released.

Adele Lim, the screenwriter on Raya, talks about the film in a video celebrating Women's History Month.

Considering they're celebrating Women's History Month with this film, looks like it was for International Women's Day. :)

Seems like this should have been released instead of Onward. Anyway I'm expecting it to have the same women empowering moments like in Moana. Maybe that's thanks to Osnat Shurer's influence (IDK I don't know her really, only that she was the producer of Moana and now Raya).

Well, as expected, it was just a brief, promotional advertising about the female integration at the studio and barely any new footage or stills about the movie itself. Yet unsurprisingly, Raya is described as a strong, badass female in this featurette. Most likely she'll end up being just like Moana, character-wise, since she was the last badass female character Disney created that was akin to Raya.

I'm not expecting a teaser anytime soon anymore. Disney most likely will wait in case Raya has to be postponed.

Similar, although I don't think they'll be exact. We don't have much to go on yet, but Raya just feels like she's going to be more reserved / sassy and less childish than Moana. Of course, her and Awkwafina will fit the usual roadtrip dynamic of wisecrack and their straight man though.

I would not be so sure about that. It might be something that has to be dealt with a long time.
Even if it does disappear in the summer like a regular flu, it might return again in winter (usually October).
It might take a long time til they come up with a vaccine.
Even if the virus disappears, doesn't return in winter and has a vaccine, Raya might be postponed, Disney needs to reschedule all their movies now.

Yeah, the Virus isn't going anywhere. But at least by the Fall, the exposure level will have come under control to normal levels like other sicknesses and hospitals can deal with it without being overwhelmed--hopefully.

Never underestimate the powerful impact a high school visit from an animator can have. Just ask Prasansook “Fawn” Veerasunthorn, the head of story on Disney’s winter 2020 feature release Raya and the Last Dragon. “I didn’t even think a career in animation was possible, until a Thai effects animator who was working at Disney Animation came to give a talk at my high school in Bangkok. His career and story inspired me to apply to art college.” [...] “I love the challenge of starting from a blank page and having to come up with something interesting to engage the audience,” she adds. Of course, she’s most excited to reflect the rich colors and visuals of her own culture in Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon. “I’m super excited to bring the beautiful Southeast Asian cultures to the big screen. I’m especially excited to be drawing a female teenage warrior being unapologetically athletic and awesome. I can’t wait for the world to see what we’ve been up to.”

I’m hoping with Lasseter gone, a movie like this, especially grounded in such a specific culture, is given breathing room. I want to soak in the scenery and culture. That’s what Ghibli movies for me do so well. And I think it’s something Disney desperately needs to get back to.

D82 wrote:That's actually a good question, though. At first, when I had only read the title of the film I thought the lead characters would be dragons, but after reading the character descriptions I was sure they were referring to humans. Now that you've mentioned that, however, I think they could very well be dragons. Or even humans who turn into dragons, as Sotiris jokingly said. I think I would actually prefer they were dragons. It would be more original and different from the How to Train Your Dragon films or the Warner Animation project.

Is Ice Dragon to " the Warner Animation project." you are referring to ? :?

(Yeach was !)
