possible new releases soon?

Post by disneyfella »

alrighty,
i have a few questions. first, i think disney has released Flight of the Navigator in Region 1 format in Canada. someone on ebay was trying to sell a copy and showed the scan of the disc, cover art, and the first menu screen. Is disney gonna be releasing that in the U.S. soon?
Next, on the Treasure Planet dvd, after watching the "play all" feature on the history of pirates stuff (which i think is narrated by the kid off of Lizzie McGuire), after the credits following it, there is a screen that says the following are avaible from Walt Disney Home Entertainment: and lists a bunch of dvds that Disney has released. In that list is the title In Search Of The Castaways. Maybe Disney was planning an early release of it and it got cancelled, or It may be coming out soon.
Last, where can I find info on the dvd release of Gargoyles. I know it's really early in the game, but someone online's probably keeping track of what's going on.

hey,
take a look at this link i found. it has pictures of the new atlantis movie's menu screens for the dvd. and a review of someone who watched the film. it says it's not as bad as the others, but i seriously doubt that. what i can't seem to figure out is why there are more bonuc features on this dtv disc than on classics like treasure island!

o.k., i had to post another reply to my own, but i found some more cool info on the next wave of Walt Disney Treasures. I'm not sure where this guy got the info, but it looks as thought Dr. Syn, Alias The Scarecrow will have to wait. It also looks like a release date of July 28th on the Freaky Friday Dvd, though no specs have been given. Also it gives a release date of Oct. 7th for Lion King 2, though he could just be stipulating. take a look at this link.

of those Treasures, it looks like the Tomorrowland one is new to me and my ears. I did notice one thing that captured my attention which I don't think is right: it says that those Treasures are in DVD and VHS format. When did the treasures come out on VHS? That must be a typo or something.

I wouldn't take the Von Drake list as gospel - they're listing Aladdin as MID 2004 which sounds unlikely - a similar October release being more likely.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Me neither. More like Educated Speculation, and I think I offer enough of that here.

As far as Flight of the navigator, if you are talking about this, then you are talking about a bootleg made from a laserdisc, as he says that's it's source is analog. Also, there are very few markings on the disc such as which studio released it, or the classic running time/digitally mastered line found on most Disney DVD's. There also isn't an official DVD Video symbol on the back - only the front. All of these lead me to beleive that it is indeed a bootleeg - but this is one of my favorites - and I wish they would put this one out soon -IN WIDESCREEN!

I too hope to see Flight of the Navigator in widescreen soon. Even a bare bones version will do...
I used to watch this movie repeatedly as a kid.
Recently, I was struggling to remember the title of the movie "about some kid who disappeared for 8 years, and there was a ship and some Beach Boys music...". People of course thought I was mad. Until I found the name on this very forum (or at least its former incarnation).
This is one I'd really like to see.
Let's all protest or something until it comes out.

Let's see if this will work this time!

Thanks MickeyMouse boy. How'd you find out about WA?

Flight of the Navigator and Newsies were originally my two most wanted Live-Action Disney DVD's since the DVD format was announced. We got a great Newsies DVD, so now I'm waiting on Flight of the Navigator. If Disney ever announces this in P&S, I will personally start the protesting!
