Loved the film! Fantastic, Thumb Up, Fabulous!

Johnny Depp was tremendous and hilarious! I have to admit I thought the end could have been slightly more adventurous but the film overall was great! Knightly looks very familiar. I'm sure I've seen her in other films. Great PG-13 fun!!! I am very angry because I did not stay until after the credits and now I come to the board to give my comments and some wacko is telling everyone there's junk after the credits! I'll admit I might be seeing it again, but I might not if I wanna see some other films. DaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHHHH!!

Why do people put stuff at the end of credits??????? If they wanna have a special ending or whatever then do it before the credits!!! OR put the credits at the beginning of the movie and have their mumbo jumbo followed by "The End". Anyways, I'm quite curious about this end of credits business. I have missed several goodies recently due to the people I was with wanting to leave and me just casually following them. (Bullseye being alive at the end of Daredevil, The Matrix Revolutions trailer at the end of The Matrix Reloaded, and now this Pirate mystery). Sorry about calling you a wacko Maerj. Didn't mean it.

They put the stuff at the end of the credits so that you stay and watch them!

Also, I have a comment on the rating. In my opinion, I do not feel that the film warrented a PG-13. I think that they pushed for that so that teenagers would think that it is more 'cool.' There really wasn't anything bad in this film, no swearing, no sex, no nudity, a teeny tiny amount of blood and some violence, but it was no big deal. So, I would say this film is still very much in the Disney spirit.

...and Captain Jack Sparrow rules! I want to be a pirate now too! Arrrrr!

But the humour in this is like mild, subtle humour, right????? like wisecracks and jokes appropriate to that time period, right????? no slapstick comedy, no toilet humour (My Favourite Martian), no food humour (Max Keeble) and no "punch in the crotch" jokes (Inspector Gadget), right?????

In my opinion it is ill mannered to get up during the credits because those people worked on the film so you would enjoy it. Then you just walk out while they are being recognized for working on the film is rude.

Pirates Of The Carribean is the best film of the year! This movie rocked the theatre. I saw a matinee yesterday and the theatre was packed. I'm talking a GIANT theatre. We even had to wait in a line to get into the theatre. This is a great blockbuster film that the whole family can enjoy! I definitely see where the whole PG-13 thing comes in. It WAS necessary. How can you forget the fork in that one guys eye? Hello?! It was so much fun. A great popcorn flick that you go to your with friends and just go, "Wow!". Kiera Knightly, by the way, was the girl from the Wonderful World Of Disney TV Movie the Princess Of Thieves. She also played Queen Amidala's decoy in Episode 1. I'm glad they put stuff in the end after the credits, now I have to go back!

The haunted mansion trailer looked good too. Eddie Murphy is hysterical! I really hope this Pirates film does well and gives Disney the confidence to make Haunted Mansion PG-13. I'm anxious to see the weekend box-office reports, because tomorrow night its goes head-to-head with League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (and we all know Sean Connery can draw a crowd). Definitely, go see Pirates of the Carribean. It will blow you away......seriously!

it made $13,509,262 on its opening night which is good i think for a wednesday it did better than t3 on its opening night which opened on a wednesday:o

I was just checking out the reviews for 'Pirates' over at Rottentomatoes.com.

80 positive 21 negative, which is really pretty good. I decided to read some of the negative ones just to see what they had to say. Well, I ended up feeling very sorry for them. Those people must lead such lousy, miserable lives that they can't enjoy themselves for a couple of hours. They probably just sit around pouting all the time!

Not every film is made for high art or to make a political statement and I think they forget that. Sometimes movies are just made to entertain and to try to take us out of the real world for little bit and have some fun and this is definitely one of those fun movies!

Adam, don't worry about the humor. It is not like any of those movies that you mentioned.

disneyfella and Maerj: thank you sooooooooooooooooooooo much for helping me set aside my worries. When people started saying how it was so funny, I got a little worried there. Anyway, I'm better now, but I don't know when I'm going to see it: the local theatre and drive-in have had no mention of it whatsoever.

I just got back from seeing it with my older brother. It's amzing. The perfect blend of adventure and little bits of comedy. And the entire cast is terrific. If they gave Oscars for this kind of movie, Johnny Depp would get it hands down. Geoffery Rush is a great villain, Keira Knightly is real spunky, and if you liked Orlando Bloom in Lord of the Rings, you'll love him in this. At least I did. You all must see it. At least if you enjoy this sort of movie. I honestly can't understand anyone not liking this one though. And don't pay attention to critcics who complain it's too long. The movie was never slow or bogged down. I HIGHLY reccomend it. Three and1/2 out of four stars.
Also, the references to the Pirates of the Carribean ride are really fun and done really well.

After this weekend's take, PotC is now up to $70.4 million since it's release last week.

WOW.

I'm sure this movie is garnering quite a bit of word-of-mouth business and should continue to fare well. Anyone happen to know what the budget for this film was?

The cost was $140 million, and the marketing was an estimated 40 million, for a whopping estimated $180 million. Hopefully, it will top $180

$180 million

That's gonna be quite a haul if they can top that. $70 million is a great start but for a film like this to approach $200 million you need to start picking up repeat business. Hopefully they can do another $40-50 million this week and be on their way.

Well, if I can make it to the drive-in this week then it'll earn another 5 bucks, if not I'll have to wait for the video in December. It's not fair!!!!! I've been waiting for the release of this movie for months, and just because I can't drive myself to the drive-in yet, I can't see it.

This is one I really hope to see, in theatres preferably. I would anticipate a long stat in thaetres, am I wrong? Prince Adam, if you don't see it this weekend, or whatever, why will you have to wait for it's video release, can't you just see it next weekend, or is it only playing for a select time, where you live? Oh, and I think it is so cool that they have a running drive-in movie theatre where you live. I don't know if they have one around here or if it is still in bussiness. I have never been to one, and would like to go to atleast one in my life time, just to say I've gone.

Well... if I don't see it in theatres, I think I can bank on it being a definate addition to the DVD collection.
