I don't see it that way. Tangled and Frozen are basically The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King of this era. Disney absolutely refused to alter those films very much in the live-action remakes ven though they could have done a non-musical, more European version of Beauty and the Beast or a more tragic version of The Little Mermaid with less calypso music.nomad2010 wrote:That’s why I’m fairly certain this ISNT a Tangled remake but a different adaptation of the original fairy tale. I don’t think they would ever remake these newer movies so quickly.DisneyFan09 wrote:I would love if Glen Keane directed it. But considering that he's now retired from Disney, I doubt that he'll do it. And weren't Disney supposed to wait before remaking their newer classics?
They knew those are their big titles which audiences have certain expectations for and major changes would NOT be well-received. The same goes with Tangled and especially Frozen. Tangled will probably get alterations like Beauty and the Beast did, to fix up plotholes and stuff, but they aren't going to make it a more traditional take on the original fairy tale which wouldn't be as commercially accessible, for the exact same reason we didn't end up getting Glen Keane's original Rapunzel in the first place. The only thing they might be more confident in now is the title.
And there's no way in hell they'll miss a chance on a live-action Elsa singing Let it Go in favor of the original Snow Queen.
