Kirk Douglas (1916-2020)

Post by NeoSuperBlissey »

Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas has passed away at age 103, per this article from CNN.

Douglas started in such Disney-owned works as "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1954), "The Man from Snowy River" (1982), "Tough Guys" (1986), and as the voice of Chester J. Lampwick (true creator of Itchy) in the 1996 "The Simpsons" episode "The Day The Violence Died."

I believe he may have been the inspiration (the physical appearance, anyway) of Charles Muntz in "Up". In any case, rest in peace, Mr. Douglas. You've led a long life.

I think you're probably right. Charles Muntz looks a lot like him. Yes, he's had a really long life. And he only made one movie with the Disney name over the logo, but it's a very famous one.

That's specifically why I said "Disney-owned" titles, so as to encompass movies he was in that were made by Touchstone, 20th Century Studios, etc.

Yes, I know. I wasn't trying to correct you or anything like that, just to point out that detail. But now, reading my comment again, I realize it can seem that was my intention, so sorry about that, NeoSuperBlissey. I should've made myself more clear. And thanks for mentioning those titles. I didn't know he had made more movies for the studio apart from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, or other films that are now owned by Disney.
