Yes, I meant the title card but even the reddish letter "P" in "Pinocchio" on the title card.Disney Duster wrote:You mean the title card for Pinocchio in the film is reddish orange?

Oh, yeah only the "P" really looks like that color. The book cover actually looks exactly like that "P"!

That's what I was hoping for actually so I'm glad my wish came true.
What other titles do you hope to see added to this book line in the future Duster?

Yeah I'm glad it came true, too!
Um, I hope for Beauty and the Beast. I think Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan would be essential editions too, because they are classics (I know you hate Peter Pan, but I find it to be a classic even if it is not a masterpiece).

My top five would be: 1) Beauty and the Beast 2) Alice in Wonderland 3) Pocahontas 4) The Hunchback of Notre Dame 5) TarzanDisney Duster wrote:Yeah I'm glad it came true, too!

Alice has some amazing concept art and the same is true for Peter Pan as well. Although I don't like the execution of the movie, I really don't have an issue with the plot so I would likely pick that one up as well and I agree that it definitely deserves a book in the line and will probably get one.
I think we'll get 101 Dalmatians with the Cruella movie and possibly Lilo & Stitch and Hunchback if this series is still around when those remakes come out.
Tarzan is the main one I'm worried we'll never see because I don't think Disney has done a Tarzan book in more than a decade now. I'm assuming they don't have book rights either.

Re: Disney Books
You really love Pocahontas and Tarzan! You know, I think because you saw the films as a child, you either have a lot of nostalgia for them, or you were open to see how good they really were, unlike people who were more close-minded to what a good movie was when they were older. Or it could be both. But I must admit they are not raved about critically, either. In my opinion they are ok films, but I saw them a loooong time ago, maybe they really are good and are just not my cup of tea, you know? They aren't Europe or castles. I love The Hunchback of Notre Dame though. Alice is always cool. And of course Beauty and the Beast is a fairy tale so I like it a lot even if I am not in love with it.
I feel like Pocahontas shouldn't be in because it's not based on classic literature or a legend, and I don't know what it is but Tarzan doesn't feel right to me either. I really can't say why. But because you are my friend, I would not mind if you got your wish and they did all those you want in this series, too.

Re: Disney Books
I did see the films as a child and while I liked them, I would never have counted them amongst my top favorites (parts of Pocahontas in fact, I used to find quite boring). Especially since my favorites were much like yours, the fairy tale ones with magic and princesses usually. It's only been in the last few years that both films have really risen to the top of my list, because of the music, visuals, and romance. In Tarzan's case though, one additional factor is that I did love the Disney TV series back when it was on. It was one of my favs along with the TV shows for Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Buzz Lightyear, Winnie the Pooh, and Lilo & Stitch.
I think it could also be that there are a lot of Little Mermaid parallels with both films such as the protagonists being by oceans and ships and being exposed to new cultures which may also explain why I love Pocahontas and Tarzan so much, since Mermaid has always been my favorite film.
I forgot, where do you rank Beauty and the Beast in your favorite Disney films again, especially compared to the other fairy tale films?
Well, technically Pocahontas was referred to as an "American legend" in marketing and even called the legend of Pocahontas at times. In fact, the real life John Smith's account of Pocahontas saving his life was published in one of his journals I think so there is literary precedent for Pocahontas. As for Tarzan, he debuted in a novel and in the Disney TV show, the author even made a cameo like how Hans Christian Anderson made a guest appearance in The Little Mermaid TV show. But beyond that, I don't think the Disney titles in this line have to be based off a book or storybook to get in. Otherwise they wouldn't include Frozen which is an original film, Dumbo which may have originated from a children's storybook but nobody knows that today, or even Mulan which is also a legend if not historical.

Re: Disney Books
Oh, I didn't know that about you. That's great!
Yes, I guess you really love the sea so much, and ships and discovering other cultures, that's interesting!
Beauty and the Beast is in my top ten, but I'm not sure where. Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, then Beauty and the Beast, I think. It always changes except the top three.
Tarzan is literature, it's true, I just feel weird it being in the collection. I'm not saying I'm right, it's just my own feeling. Mulan is a legend, but yes, it's kind of historical which is also weird. And Pocahontas is history mixed with legend so...I feel weird about it too! You make good points, I'm just saying, for unexplainable reasons I find it weird them being in the collection.

Re: Disney Books
I love the sea mainly because of The Little Mermaid and I loved the idea of being able to swim underwater and explore a gleaming, golden castle.
I'm glad Mermaid is in your top three! Wasn't Bambi one of your major favorites as well, if not in your top five, then after the princess films?
Maybe your feelings on Tarzan will become more clear if you consider The Jungle Book which is a book in the same vein as Tarzan. How would you feel if The Jungle Book was added to the collection? I can see why your feelings would be conflicted about Mulan and Pocahontas.

Aw. Yes, that golden castle and Ariel's kingdom is amazing.
Hm...I think it's Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, Bambi, Pinocchio, Tangled, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Aladdin. All ten! Tangled I really only like for them finally doing Rapunzel, and a few things they got right.
Hm...The Jungle Book. Yes, that is literature, and in the jungle. I think I feel it would fit in the collection, because it is considered more of a Disney classic than Tarzan (sorry Tarzan!).

Which reminds me that I still need to pick up that Disney Castle book which finally came out in the US. Strangely enough, I'm most interested in seeing Snow White's castle because hers is the one we've seen the least of.Disney Duster wrote:Aw. Yes, that golden castle and Ariel's kingdom is amazing.

Wow, your favorites are pretty much the same as mine with the exception of Tangled as you well know. I am glad though that Disney made Rapunzel since that was pretty much the last major princess fairy tale they hadn't done.
That may also be because The Jungle Book is one of the older Disney films so we've had decades to accept it as a Disney classic and most people are only familiar with it because of the Disney film, not the actual book. Tarzan however is so widespread and you can find the non-Disney version in practically any medium including film, TV, radio, books, comic books, video games, etc. and even in film, it's the most filmed subject ever after Dracula. So as a public, we're less inclined to think of Tarzan as a purely Disney product.

Yay, our favorites are almost the same!
That Disney castle book looked cool but I don't need it. If I was rich and had a lot of room maybe, lol.
Yes, I think because the Jungle Book is older it has more classic status. By the way, I had heard The Guinness Book of World Records was unsure whether it was Dracula or Cinderella that was the most filmed subject of all time.

It's about $16 on Amazon if that price is more agreeable for you since the one from England was about $20. I think it's also around $15-16 at Target.

Oh wow, is Cinderella really one of the most filmed stories of all time? I had no idea about that. I was always told that Dracula was #1 and Tarzan was #2 but this might have been in the late 90s/early 2000s so that could have changed since then.

Oh...well...I dunno it's just not my kinda Disney book lol. I know, it's Disney Princesses castles, but that's all it is. That's why I would only get it if I were rich and had lots of room for all kinds of books.
If you Google "what is the most filmed story" it says Cinderella.

Re: Disney Books
I like it because it shows the placement of the different rooms in juxtaposition to each other. I've always wanted to see the layout of the Beast's castle for example or imagine the rooms that Cinderella might explore in the palace. It's the closest we'll get to ever being to tour the Disney castles and palaces.Disney Duster wrote:Oh...well...I dunno it's just not my kinda Disney book lol. Although I could do without entries for Mulan, Rapunzel, and Merida lol. The former because it isn't even her palace so it's weird to include in this book. Rapunzel's because she has the most generic castle of all and even when Disney promotes the princesses with their castles, they always choose Rapunzel's tower instead because they know that is far more iconic and the better design. Merida's castle I actually wouldn't mind I guess because even though I don't care too much for the film, it'll be nice to have a more traditional looking medieval castle rather than the typical Disney ones to explore.
https://www.funtrivia.com/askft/Question114063.html
Oh wow, that did pop up. According to this website, Cinderella is the most filmed story but Dracula is the most filmed character. Meaning that every culture has their own version of Cinderella so as far as story and plotlines go, the Cinderella story is the most filmed even if the character herself isn't necessarily called Cinderella (and it might not even be a male).

Yes, the castle book is cool, I just prefer slightly different stuff to buy. Yes, a Merida castle would be cool, and Rapunzel's tower has the way better design.

Re: Disney Books
Going back to this, I was watching one of the bonus features for Tarzan and also on the audio commentary, it's mentioned that Edgar Rice Burroughs, the author of Tarzan, wanted an animated adaptation as far back as 1936. He wrote a letter to his son where he mentioned what he wanted included in the film and one of the conditions was that it be of the same quality as Disney. So I found it interesting how Tarzan was linked to Disney by its creator as far back as the 30s.Disney Duster wrote:

Re: Disney Books
It seems that in France, Disney has released in their DISNEY CINÉMA collection a new edition of Pinocchio, featuring the new style of illustrations.
I really like it.
Last year, it was The Lion King, this year Pinocchio and maybe Mulan, with the new live action movie coming.
Here is a link, where you can see the cover as well. it looks quite nice

If it's not baroque, don't fix it.
