Forum Distribution

Post by Luke »

Wondering if people are happy with the way things are now - with a minimum number of forums, most notably a General Discussion forum that covers a wide range.

Would you prefer some separate forums for certain things? I hate separate forums just for the sake of having separate forums, but I also don't want it to be a pain to find topics that are of interest, and I don't want it to be a pain to search for multiple forums.

For instance, separating General Discussion into Disney Movie Discussion and Disney DVD Discussion? Yay or nay?

Having a separate Games/Trivia/Polls forum/s?

Any other ideas? Feed me, Seymour.

Thanks.

I think things are great right now, but you could use a little trial and error and see how people like it.
What would this wretched world be like without Disney?

My preference would be to leave things as they are now.

If you do decide to add more forums though, make sure you specify very clearly what threads go where.

I think games and trivia messages should still be posted in the off-topic forum for now.

I suggest that we don't split the General Discussion forum into two different groups yet. I've noticed that there have been quite a few new polls in the past month. If we put all the polls in one forum, they would be easier to find. This is just an idea though.

An international forum for non US and Region 1 DVDs would be great!

Well, Since this is a message board, for Disney, I don't see the need for many other forums, that say a "General" message board system would need.

I think, the description of the GENERAL BOARD should be changed for just Disney Movies, not just Disney DVD's, since the latter of us treat the board as a Disney Movies board! :P

Additional forums to be made, are up to you. Adding some stuff is fine, but adding too many, is not necessary, especially for the amount of people we have on the boards. So, having a LITERATURE, TELEVISION, GAMECUBE, WRESTLING, ect. boards, would be unnecisary, since not many people would post on all of the boards. My idea, personally, is just leave it as is, and maybe add the highly wanted international board, for R? Disney movies, and just cultral topics.. I dunno

I suggest a seperate "Disney Movies/TV" forum, "American DVD" forum and "International DVD" forum.

I still predict the "Disney Movies/TV" will get the most visits/posts - but that's no problem. I see nothing wrong with trivia/polls being posted in this forum.

I wouldn't mind a Disney computer games forum, but I understand this is not priority.

But Luke, if you do split the forums, I expect you to enforce the topics!

Luke -- I also think it's time to delete all names with zero posts from April and May... Their just wasting space... I remember you saying about doing something like this before, but am not sure if you ever were going to do it or not... Just something to remind you of... just to give us a more accurate amount of users who are actually active...

I think if you want to add anything it should be an International Forum. There are quite a few Eiropean/Snadanavian folks here and having a forum dedicated to R2 DVDs would undoubtedly go over well.

As for the rest of the place I think it flows nicely as is.

Yeah, an International Forum for the other 5 global region codes would be nice! I'm pretty sure that there are many Disney DVDs and theatrical movies in these regions:

2. Japan, Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East, including Egypt
3. Southeast Asia, East Asia, including Hong Kong
4. Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean
5. Former Soviet Union, Indian subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, and Mongolia
6. China

Okay, I'll set up an International Forum for now, since pretty much all seem to be in favor of that, and we'll figure out the rest as time goes on.

If you haven't yet posted here, please share your thoughts. Thanks to all who already have.

A brief note about the International Forum - the forum won't let me move any threads from past Page 1 of General Discussion, which is why so far there are only 2 threads there. It's giving me crap about "Invalid session" so maybe it will decide to work later.

Well, i noticed the additional forum when i signed on today, and I think it was a great idea... I also think a seperate forum for Movie discussion would be great, that way, the one can be for dvd's and dvd related stuff... and the Polls/Games/Trivia would also be great, but that's it, just those 2 additional ones... :)
