The film was a financial and critical failure. The only positive thing the critics had to say was about Menken's song.

But there is still intermittent joy to be found in their autumnal bromance, which reaches apotheosis here in a late-breaking musical duet from the show-tune veterans Alan Menken and Glenn Slater.

Kindly note how what should have been no-brainer wins, like an Alan Menken-penned musical number and several parodies of slo-mo scenes à la the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock movies, are virtually smothered in the crib.

There is a very large musical number in this film that it was just so good that I was like 'maybe this movie should have been a musical'.

I didn't know this film featured a song by Menken.

I'm not surprised it flopped. While the two stars are both funny, a Sherlock-inspired comedy is probably too intelligent for the demo that they normally attract.

[Disney Duster]

I saw this movie when a friend recommended it. I liked it, actually. It was stupid, not that funny, and was pretty bad, but I still got some laughs and liked it's story anyway. And yes, the song Menken wrote actually was a really great song and one of the absolute best things about the movie.
