I hate it when they use the film's poster as the soundtrack's cover. Especially, if it's a boring one like The Lion King's. It's so lazy. Like put some effort to it.

I never used to hate the use of a movie poster as a soundtrack cover, but now recently I consider it to be lazy.

I can't remember seeing the poster version although I probably did; I haven't paid as much attention to this remake as the others. I think it's a cute picture for the soundtrack though.

Beyonce and Donald Glover sound as great as I imagined in that clip of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" I might just buy Beyonce's and Glover's songs (+ Elton's performance of the new song). I've never been that big a fan of "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" or "Hakuna Matata," and "Circle of Life" and "He Lives in You" probably won't be much different than other versions of it (in film or on Broadway). Who knows if the actor playing Scar will do well with "Be Prepared" or not.

Well, to talk about Beyonce's voice acting: At least her voice sounds convincingly regal, regardless of her being recognizable.

Have you guys seen this video? It features a brief shot of Nala as a cub. At least she has a similar skin color to her animated counterpart.

If I understood correctly, the digital version of the soundtrack will come out next week, while the physical release will be released the same day as the movie itself. Is this correct?

Timon and Pumbaa are here! So far, I don't get real energy from Billy and Seth from their acting. They have potential, but something about their acting is too plain. On the bright side, we have ONE change so far: Zazu is with Simba and Nala at the beginning of the climax.

But, their singing is great though and they nail Hakuna Matata (Starts at 1:26):

Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ remake will be 1 hour and 58 minutes long which is 29 minutes longer than Disney’s original ‘The Lion King’ film.

Beyonce will release a companion album inspired by the film called "The Lion King: The Gift".
"The Lion King: The Gift," an album featuring global artists & steeped in the sounds of Africa, produced & curated by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, will release 7/19. “Spirit,” the single from the album & soundtrack for The Lion King, will be available tonight. https://smarturl.it/beyoncespirit

The song "Spirit" is going to be the one sang by Nala in the film, which you can listen to on YouTube among other places. I didn't like the song at all. I thought it was of lower quality than the rest of the songs in the film and stage show and doesn't fit well with the established musical vocabulary of the property. It turns out there's a reason for that. The song was not written by Elton John, Tim Rice, Lebo M. or Hans Zimmer. It was written by her, Timothy McKenzie, and Ilya Salmanzadeh. I think it's really disrespectful they didn't allow the original songwriting team to write a new song for Nala and just let Beyonce do whatever she wanted.

I really like the song and I think it’s gorgeous.

My problems are:
a) It won’t fit with the tight animation
b) Where does it belong in the story? It could be too popish before/during the climax

It could be played during a montage sequence or otherwise overlaid with footage without having the character lip-sync it.

This is all we know so far.
The powerful track, "Spirit," appears in the film, during a pivotal scene with Beyoncé's character, Nala.

What possibly could be Nala's pivotal scene so late in the movie? It's after Mufasa's ghost scene.

It can not be when Nala leaves Pride Rock. It can not be Nala and Simba's fight. The very thing I can think of is if Nala gathers the lionesses to fight, but the lyrics that I'm reading now is so vague that it can not be it. Plus, it would be too long when we should be focuses on Simba and Scar.

They should have really kept Shadowland.

So "Spirit" will be both on the soundtrack and the "inspired by"- type album?
