I don't think it's likely that the only documentary at the time or release on American TV was aired on the Disney Channel. Given that shows on national networks are basically free publicity I'm sure Disney would have moved heaven and earth to get a primetime networked 30min special aired. But I can't find any record of one on IMDB (or the Disney Channel special either oddly). So who knows?
I think the Disney Channel one is more likely to be a seperate production or an edited version of a bigger one (hopefully a bigger one was made, even if they couldn't find a network willing to show it).
What is the matter with "So Dear To My Heart". Hasn't been released in the U.S.? Hopefully they'll release "Song of the South" as soon as possible. A personal favorite!
My pics for the 2005 Walt Disney Treasures, thus W5 & W6:
- The Complete Pluto: Volume 2
- The Chronological Donald: Volume 2
- The Complete Pluto: Volume
- Silly Symphonies: Volume 2
- True Life Adventures
- The Assorted Treasures
After these volumes, which are completed and which not?
Is there still something we can expect starring Mickey Mouse?
DisneyGirl named it already, maybe they can start a new tin-series (in a different color) that contains complete seasons from classic tv-series like: DuckTales, The Gummi Bears, The Wuzzles, Rescue Rangers, etc.
That would be awesome.

Pluto won't go for more than 2 volumes. Mickey is done by wave 4.
By the way, an interesting point: Song of the South will be 60 years old next year.....
- Donald Duck Vol. 2
- Silly Symphonies Vol. 2 (the rest...)
- Assorted Treasures Vol. 1 (the featurettes eg. Ben & Me, Mathmagic Land, Paul Bunyan, Freewayphobia No. 1, Scrooge McDuck And Money...)
- True Life Adventures (all the 7 featurettes, the 6 full-lengh TLA will be released seperately from the treasure tin series)
Wave 6 (2006):
- Donald Duck Vol. 3
- Song Of The South / So Dear To My Heart (SOTS 60 YEARS!!!)
- Pluto Vol. 2 (I still don´t understand the release of two volumes... what could they release to get a complete Vol. 2 which will be related with Pluto?)
Wave 7 (2007):
- Donald Duck Vol. 4
- Mickey Mouse Club Vol. 2 (TV series like Spin And Marty)
- Assorted Treasures Vol. 2 (the specials like ferdinand the bull, the brave engineer, lambert, susie, the little house, goliath II & the mini series Figaro, Chip & Dale, Humphrey)
- People And Places Vol. 1
Wave 8 etc. (2008, etc.)
- People And Places Vol. 2
- Live Action Featurettes Vol. 1 (e.g. Arizona Sheepdog, Alaskan Sled Dog, Mysteries of the Deep, Yellowstone Cubs, Run Appaloosa Run)
- Live Action Featurettes Vol. 2
- maybe other TV show tins e.g. Frontierland: Andy Burnett, Elfego Baca or some Fantasyland Cartoon stuff
Then the following series would be completely on TT:
- Animated Featurettes
- Animated Specials
- Silly Symphonies, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto
- Live Action Featurettes
- True Life Adventures, People And Places
That´s my personal suggestion when Disney keep releasing the treasure tins they way they did in the past (4 one year and 3 in the next)
After seeing the "likely" double dippin on Pluto, I would now expect to see a complete volume of Chip and Dale cartoons. They're 25+, no matter how you look at it.
Private Plute (1943)
Squatter's Rights (1946)
Chip and Dale (1947)
Toy Tinkers (1949)
Three for Breakfast (1949)
Working for Peanuts (1953)
Donald Applecore (1951)
Winter Storage
All in a Nutshell
Toy Tinkers
Crazy Over Daisy
Trailer Horn
Food for Feudin'
Out on a Limb
Corn Chips
Test Pilot Donald
Out of Scale
Donald Applecore (1952)
Dragon Around (1954)
Trailer Horn (1950)
Food for Feudin' (1950)
Two Chips and a Miss (1952)
Chicken in the Rough (1951)
Chips Ahoy (1956)
The Lone Chipmunks (1954)
Pluto's Christmas Tree (1955?)
Up a Tree (1955)
Chips Ahoy (1956)
Maybe include their appearance in Mickey's Christmas Carol
Maybe include their stuff from Mickey Mouse Works
Maybe include the short from Hosue of Mouse
What am I missing--other than Rescue Rangers???? I know I'm missing some.
Plus I think we're overlooking the obvious choice for Wave 5 or 6. Disney already re-mastered that Disneyland Anthology for Laserdisc some years back. Just like Mickey Mouse in BW vol 1, it could be easily transfered over to a treasures set. The only two pieces that are available presently-- one of the Ward Kimball episodes on space travel and one of the disneyland eps. Swap those out--or delete them--and you should be good to go with a new treasures set. Personally I'd swap it out with Kids is Kids. Maybe one other Ludwig set. Without the supporting cartoons, the Ludwig pieces will make litter or no sense.
Sorry to babble on. Actually my two picks for replacements from the Disneyland Anthology are one of the Ludwig episodes and one of the Jiminey Cricket episodes, namely
Kids is Kids OR At Home with Donald Duck
AND
On Vacation with Mickey Mouse.
Put those into the Disney Antology Laserdisc set. Remove the two episodes already released on DVD. And some new bonus material. And you're good to go.
englishboy, most of the Chip & Dale shorts were recently released in Europe so they probably have most/all of them ready. See Joe Carioca's post on this thread:
Papa Bear asked about a Chip & Dale list so I made one (with a couple of deathie nuggets ) and it's a little further down the thread. Tho I don't know if it's totally complete, it has one thing yours doesn't have, so maybe that's what's missing?
Can someone tell me what the name of that park ranger character? He's short and fat, and he always stars with that bear character, and sometimes Donald Duck. Are there enough cartoons of him to make a treasure? I think that would be a great idea. Also maybe a treasure with miscellaneous cartoon shorts such as Ben and Me, and that other short I also can't remember the name of. It's about a yellow car, and I think her name is Betsy but I'm not sure. She goes from being a brand new car to crashing, then ending up in a dark alleyway where she's eventuall found in a junkyard and restored by a kid. Anyone know the title of that one? Anyway those and all the other misc shorts would make a great treasure.
<<Educational Shorts: kind of like the miscellaneous shorts, but with more of a theme. Stuff like "Triangle of Health" and "Story of Menstruation" would pop up here. Fun in the 'Frontlines' kind of way.>>
That would be one of my most anticipated sets ever. Of course would Donald in Mathmagic land be included, I think it would. And of course I'd love to see the "I'm No Fool" series on here too.
Most Anticpated: Watchmen Terminator Salvation Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Ahh yes, thank you! I knew I remembered yellow somewhere! And yes, "The Complete J. Audubon Woodlore" I think would be a great treasure for wave 5. Anyone think it's possible?
in my personal list I´ve 35 specials and cartoons from mini series. As far as I know, J. Audubon Woodlore didn´t have his own series, he co-starred in the Donald Duck series and the Humphrey (the bear) mini series. Even the Humphrey series is to short for an exclusive TT treatment.
I think that the best way to release this stuff are the "Assorted Treasures". When you add the animated featurettes to the specials, the whole stuff would need at least two volumes. But then the we´d have a good chance to get the whole "regular" (means no commercials / educationals) cartoon stuff released on the TT without (to many) "double" releases.
Another problem is the division of some cartoons into (mini-)series: To me DD/Goofy Co-Star Cartoons (e.g. Billposters, No Sail) don´t belong to the DD or the Goofy series - it´s a mini series cause both characters are on the titles of those cartoons. I think dividing the cartoons by their title is the best way. So I´ve put Cartoons like "modern inventions" (Donald Duck) into the Mickey Mouse series, although Mickey didn´t appear.

One could make Treasure sets of Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar and a lot of other characters as well. I hope that won't happen - there is potential for very much "double-dipping".
To complete the "regular" shorts we need (in addition to the ones released and announced for this year): Silly Symphonies vol 2, Pluto vol 2 (if the one to be released this year is a vol 1), two or three more Donald Duck volumes and one with various shorts that don't fit into the other categories.
The way I organize the shorts, I really don't bother about whether the "Donald & Goofy" shorts belong to the DD series, the Goofy series or is a separate "mini series".
I keep a list of 75 Silly Symphonies - most "collectors and scholars" seem to agree on these titles, even though there seems to be some doubt about the Pigs sequels.
Then I have a list of 360 other shorts. This includes the theatrical shorts (no commercial, eductional, TV...) from the "classic" period starting with Mickey Mouse in 1928 and ending in 1956 when Disney's shorts department was closed down. It does not include the later films and those considerably longer than the average shorts (such as "Ben and Me). Those I consider "something else".
I've made a simple system of reference numbers to make it easier to find a particular title in my video/LD/DVD collection or the place of the title in the chronology. I'll give you the details if interested.

I´m very interested in your system... you can also email me. thanks a lot
A Fantasyland tin would be great! Also more MMC or Walt Disney Presents. And how about a Christmas Tin? With Christmas-related shorts and specials? I'd buy it.
ohmahaaha wrote:There CAN'T be another Goofy or Mickey in Color set, they are all complete now.
I would like to see any of the following:
Silly Symphonies vol 2 (the rest)
Donald Duck vol. 2 (and any further volumes)
True Life Adventures
Assorted Treasures
Zorro
More episodes of Disneyland or Walt Disney Presents
I would love to see a Zorro Tin! That would be so cool.
As for mine
Zorro
Silly Symphonies vol 2 (the rest)
Donald Duck vol. 2 (and any further volumes)
Assorted Treasures
