Lion King 2 Rebate from the August 2004 Disney Newsletter

Post by adbs18 »

The August 2004 Disney DVD & Video Newsletter (Volume 41) has a blurb that says:

Save $4 On "The Lion King 2:
Simba's Pride Special Edition"
Current owners of The Lion King 1 1⁄2 or The Lion King Special Edition on DVD or Video can save $4 by mail when they buy The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride Special Edition on DVD or Video. See specially marked packages for complete details.

Yet, when I purchased my DVD today, there was no information about how to claim the "refund/rebate".

Can anyone in the "know" help me out with this? I may have wrongly assumed that ALL DVDs would have the details. I purchased my DVD at Best Buy. Are only certain retailers providing the "specially marked packages"? Would these be retailers who don't offer a "premier week" dicount on new DVDs? (Such as Best Buy did with it's $17.99 cost for the disc) Any insight would be most appreciated. Thanks.

There should be a booklet inside with this offer and ads for Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas, Mulan II, and Home on the Range. You didn't get this?

No, my DVD came with none of this. My DVD only had a two page leaflet that is basically an index to the contents of the two discs. I was actually kind of surprised that it had nothing other than the leaflet.

Disney's site does say "See Specially Marked packages" for full details, but maybe if you called them up, they could mail or e-mail you a coupon form. The 'specially marked packages' should have a sticker on the front cover.

OK. Thanks very much for the suggestion. I was a little too gung-ho to purchase the disc, as I have yet to view this movie, and I neglected to verify that my packaging included the specially marked sticker. Lesson learned. I take it that I'll be able to find the appropriate phone number on the Disney website? Thanks again for the help.

Forgot to include the number. 1-800-72-DISNE should be able to help, hopefully. Good luck!

Hey, Luke. That was superbly effective. The phone operator was more than happy to send me a booklet with all the current rebates available. Thanks again for your help. It's very much appreciated.

Hi adbs18, I'm glad that Disney will send you a booklet. :) Enjoy the movie.

I'm still waiting for my copy and booklet to arrive via mail.

Hmmm...did the Alice in Wonderland Masterpiece Edition DVD come with a coupon booklet? I got my copy at Wal-Mart and all it had was a card game, an insert, and one coupon. I found it odd since it was the first time it didn't come with the booklet of savings. Do only certain stores carry DVDs with coupon booklets?

I got my copy of Lion King 2: Simba's Pride at Costco and yes it did have a small booklet that has coupons and advertisments on it.
The small booklet is the same thing that Luke explain in the other post.

Hi guys! I guess Best Buy isn't carrying DVDs with coupon booklets. You should try the number Luke gave us: 1-800-72-DISNE (Is there supposed to be a Y?).

Also you can go to BVHE's website and send them an e-mail about your problem. They may help you or just give you a number to call. I did that before because I wanted a new Brother Bear case. You have to go through a long series of touch tone thingers before you get connected to a human being. Anyhow the woman I talked to was glad to send me a new case free of charge and it came in 7 business days like she said. She also sent me two cases even though I only asked for one! What service! :) Anyhow, I remember another thread where forum members did the same thing for missing inserts and coupons. Good Luck!

FYI...I received my coupon for the rebate, as well as every rebate/coupon/advertisement they offer. This was great. I now have coupons for other DVDs I've been meaning to pick up. Granted some of them have expired, but as they say...beggars can't be choosers.
