I sort of understand the logic behind that change, but at the same time I don't. Seeing as Anakin was redeemed just before he died, I believe his force ghost should have remained played by Sebastian Shaw. On the other hand, can one act of redemption or kindness erase decades of murders and cruelties? Of course not, so I see why they'd have him restored to the last time he was actually "pure".JeanGreyForever wrote:I've never really had problems with most of Lucas' changes either, not even the change involving the ROTJ ghost featuring Anakin (which I frankly always felt was one of his better improvements).
That scene is rather awkward as well. Jabba seems more mellow than he is in RotJ, the bizarre English/Huttese exchange, and the Han calls him a "wonderful human being" on top of that. Just... weird. I assume it was partially done so they could stick Boba Fett in there?JeanGreyForever wrote:The main one I have an issue with is Jabba's appearance in A New Hope, because not only is the dialogue almost word-for-word from the earlier Greedo scene, but the CGI Jabba looks absolutely terrible.
I agree. Unfortunately, Harry Potter films suffered from two things: one, all seven books not having been published prior to filming and two, they didn't have their own Kevin Feige to oversee and keep close attention to every detail (J.K. Rowling doesn't count, she approved or agreed to some of the more questionable choices, and appears rather fickle). Also, David Yates sometimes seemed embarrassed of making fantasy films and he's been in charge of the movies for more than a decade now. One thing they excelled at was the casting. I would welcome a new adaptation, but a new cast would take a lot of time getting used to.JeanGreyForever wrote:I've always loved extended editions and changes in special effects after technology has advanced over the years. I was ecstatic that the first two Harry Potter films got extended editions, especially since they've always been the most book accurate. Never understood why the rest of the series never got the same treatment especially since the later installments have so many plotholes and unused footage (especially Order of the Phoenix). Prisoner of Azkaban is my fav HP film but I agree that it always bothered me that the Marauders were never addressed.
Anyway, out of the eight films, I find that PoA and GoF captured the essence of the books the best, minor issues aside. They had a chance of making extended versions with those ultimate editions but passed on it for some reason. Sadly, I don't think the Marauder scene was ever filmed and that's a shame.
Sorry for being off-topic!
