Gift Sets???
Gift Sets???
I just got the Lion King gift and it's quite nice. Do any other platinum titles have a gift set (other than the upcoming Aladdin). Any info is much appreciated.

As far as Platinums go, Aladdin and LK are it.

Well, not to be Mr Picky, but strictly speaking you only have 2 gift sets (of the same film) there. The rest are slipcovers.panhead4life wrote:well, I just love gift sets

But I am very impressed nonetheless! Out of curiosity, do you plan to sell those dupes at some stage? I have to admit, they look very nice all lined up next to each other.

well, the lion king is the only dvd so far that has been released in a "gift set"
but I eventually, in about 5/6 years plan to sell the sealed ones, i'm going to get multiple aladdin ones also.
And lion king is my fav movie of ALL time, i'm talking not just animated, i mean ALL TIME, and that is saying a lot because The Last Samurai, Braveheart, etc. is right up there. Although I may have a new fav movie when I receive it in the mail in a week or so...."Hero"!!!

The link for Belle's Magical World doesn't work.Loomis wrote:As far as Platinums go, Aladdin and LK are it.

I think Belle's Magical World comes with a rose purse set.

I was gonna get the TLK giftset today for $17, then I noticed the box was all beat up and teared up. I was so pissed, insteaed I got Snow Whit PE for $30, in perfect condition. Now I'm thinking of getting all the gifsets from now on, dunno know though, cause I'll probably look at the drawings once and then thats it.
I know how you feel, I still seriously regret not sending back my LK gift set I got when the DVD came out. I just couldnt wait to see the DVD though.Ciaobelli wrote:I was gonna get the TLK giftset today for $17, then I noticed the box was all beat up and teared up. WHy I shouldve send it back? Because it came damaged in the mail. The gift set box and the litograph box were badly bent but everything else was ok. Since the DVD itself was crap I might as well keep it.
Now regarding gift sets, it is my belief that you'll find better gift sets through non American DVD releases. I'm sure youll find some interesting stuff. I've learned that Americans get cheated out of the good stuff on animated dvds

It'd still make a nice gift.panhead4life wrote:that's not really a gift set though...it comes w/ a purse, haha. what is a 21 year old male going to do w/ that? As far as I'm aware, The Lion King has been the only Special Edition or Platinum Edition gift set in REGION 1

I can think of a number of things a 21 year old male would do with it, but I might offend the Christians (they are all around us...shhhh).
