I'd like to remind Mr. Reilly that those princesses that we "can still appreciate" are the sole reason that his recent film was greenlighted and on top of that, the main reason it's doing so well at the box office. He should harbor much more than appreciation for them.

The forum got a shout-out btw for all the hate most of us have piled on this film.

heh I have noticed that Tumblr of all places has been mostly positive regarding the Wrecked Princesses, with the exception of the whole issue involving Tiana and Poca's depiction.

the only other place where I know the Wrecked Princess are hated much as here is 4chan but they hate 90% of post 2010s Revival era Disney anyway.

Im so mixed about the whole thing. Ive had very little interest in the princesses as far as the film itself... Ive barely watched any of the trailers or scenes linked here and still dont know if Ill watch the film in theaters or wait till its out on dvd/bluray.

OTOH Im a complete merch whore and Ive been loving all the merch! I have 3 Rock Candies so far and want to get some of the Bandai minis and the dolls(if I cant do the whole set.) Wouldnt mind a t-shirt as well.

That's nothing. A guy named Mike Russo screen-capped some of our posts from this thread and shared it with Cartoon Research's Facebook page to trash us. He called us "cesspools", "angry", "bitter", and "sick". All of this because we dared criticize a Disney movie! What a sad, pathetic, ridiculous person. Some people in the comments even claimed we were Russian trolls! rotfl

Ralph Breaks the Internet directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnston answer our burning questions
https://ew.com/movies/2018/11/29/ralph- ... directors/
In the credits, that little girl was named Mo, and her mother is voiced by Nicole Scherzinger, who voiced Moana’s mom in Moana. Explain!
JOHNSTON: Because we did unfortunately not heed our own advice and we read the comments [when the teaser came out], we saw people saying, “Wait, is that Baby Moana?” So, her name is Mo, and Moana’s mom does do the voice. But she’s not Moana.

MOORE: We would say, she’s a descendant of Moana, who’s named Moana. We’re just going to go full meta on this one.
JOHNSTON: Someone did throw out the idea of a streaming show of Felix and Calhoun raising those 15 kids like a family sitcom. So there’s that, I guess.

So this wasn't an intentional Moana reference from the start. They were just reusing the model to save money and time but when people pointed out the resemblance they decided to get in on the joke.

Maybe they'll do a TV series for Disney+ like they're doing with Monsters, Inc.
Rich Moore wrote:When we landed on the idea of Ralph being so insecure — and that the story was going to be about their friendship on the line and Ralph making bad decision after bad decision in trying to hang on to Vanellope to the point where it was becoming toxic — we said to ourselves that we didn’t want to have a traditional antagonist in this movie. We didn’t want to do another Disney villain, or a surprise villain, as some people call them.
They know!

Ugh! "Disney Villain" used to mean "a good villain"!

Is that really Moana's rig just re-used? You sure they didn't design something that just looks like toddler Moana?

The moment where the princesses shout with glee they don't have moms was particularly cringe-worthy, tasteless, and frankly inappropriate. They made a joke out of their moms dying, for crying out loud. What were the filmmakers thinking?

Well I saw it over the weekend.... I loved it.....

However.....I was loving it, but then the Disney Princess Scene.... oh my god.... I cringed so hard at that.

Honestly, it reminded me o fa Turtles Forever, kinda a crossover between the 2003 Turtles Show and the classic 1980's Turtles. In this, the Turtles from the 80's were completely dumbed down caricatures of themselves, when in the show they were dimensions to each character, even though it might have been light hearted more than the 2003 version.

That's what this scene reminded me of, and honestly Vaneloppe's Song.... felt so out of place. It was only til Ralph found out Vanellope wanted to stay in Slaughter house did the film become what I felt, was Wreck it Ralph 2, though seeing the Disney Princesses near the end...for some reason wasn't as jarring compared to when they first appeared for some reason.... and that line about all mom's being dead isn't even accurate for some of them. Tiana, Moana, Rapunzel, and Mulan's mothers are alive....

I'm glad somebody else mentioned this besides me. It really did feel completely shoehorned in, like it belonged in some other movie. Very tonally jarring, even moreso than the princess scene imo which was bad enough. If the song was at least good, I could see why its inclusion would be warranted but it's pretty subpar for a Menken song and that's something I feared would occur from the moment it was announced that Menken's Disney "comeback" would be on this film. I really hope Menken will get some proper material for a future project.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Aurora, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, + Moana were off to the side/not the ones talking/in the shot when the girls mentioned moms...

I'm glad they made a music video for it. I thought they wouldn't bother filming one for the second end-credit song.

Wow. It's worse that I imagined. Everything about it is just... It's so sad seeing such a sequence in a Disney "classic". :( Even Chicken Little had more integrity than this.
D82 wrote:I found one song made for the film from Indonesia, though it's not a version of "In This Place" but a completely different one titled "Sebuah Lagu" from a group called Payung Teduh. Here's the song and here's a sneak peek of the music video.
The full music video of that song has just been released.

Yeah, I actually loved it! Much better than Zero's video. It's impressive how they nailed Slaughter Race. I wish it was animated, a la Carrie's "Ever After" to make this canon in Wreck-It Ralph.

What didn't you like about it exactly? If I never saw this clip and went in, thinking that it would be as bad as you'd say, I would be genuinely confused to see what was wrong with it. Not to be rude or sarcastic, are you planning on seeing the movie and see if the movie would be better/worse, outside of OMD, than you think it is? It seems like you're extra hard on a movie that you haven't given a chance yet. Not saying that as a Wreck-It Ralph fan, just an observation.

Thanks! Like you said, it doesn't seem to fit the movie much, but it's a nice song.

Here's the music video for the Spanish version of "In This Place": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zw6ytsfaMto

Well, for starters that it begins with a dance remix of "Let It Go". Then the Disney Princess quiz where Snow White appears at the end. The Q&A with baby Groot was particularly inane. It's everything, really. The whole vibe of the scene. It's trying too hard to be hip and modern and all of the cross-promotion and the advertising is too cringey and off-putting to me. It's like someone took everything I love about Disney movies, such as the grandeur, the timelessness, the sincerity etc., and just did the opposite.

While the first Wreck-It Ralph isn't one of my favorite Disney movies, there were plenty of things I liked about it. This one seems devoid of the charm and earnestness of the original. The original also featured some product placement but the sequel turned it up to eleven. It became shameless, brazen, and distracting. If DreamWorks had done something similar with all of their IP, people would be brutal in their critique. But Disney gets a pass too often because people are more emotionally invested in the brand and are willing to let anything slide.

I'm not going to watch it in theaters, but I'll probably catch it when it comes on home video. There's no point in wasting my money for something I know I'm not going to enjoy. I already know all of the plot and spoilers so there's nothing that could pleasantly surprise me.
