My thing is how are they fitting all of these scenarios in a 90-minute movie. Without watching the movie, it sounds so jumbled and all-the-over the place.

reminds me of how there are different Buzz's(and I assume the other toys as well except for the older rare ones like Woody) in Toy Story...I always thought that was weird even if it technically made sense.

And why is one Ralph dressed as Felix? Maybe it's just a nightmare Ralph has at some point in the movie.

Shank must be one of the most realistic looking Disney characters so far. Which makes me wonder how far it is possible to push the realistic look in an animated Disney feature.

Ralph's expression makes it seem that the princesses are part of a gang ready to attack them!

Do you think with the MASSIVE buzz around the Princesses being in the move, they will add additional material with them in ? I thought it was originally a little cameo thing, but feels like it's slowly getting bigger and bigger ....

The animators are definitely having fun with his expressions. Again, when is he not chill?

Yup, Rich said back in June there's more than one Princess scene in the movie. Which I'm both elated and scared for. Which means Jane, Esmerelda, Kida, and Meg could indeed be in the movie. It would def explain Nicole/Moana's mom doing last minute voice work.

Disney Japan has released a hi-res version of the poster: https://twitter.com/disneystudiojp/stat ... 0783432705

I hope this means a new Japanese trailer will arrive soon.

Media is at it again. Once one source starts claiming something, all others follows. This time it is about so-called whitewashing again.

I this thread I have seen some comments about how not all Disney princesses were equally successful as CGI characters compared to their original look, regardless of their ethnicity.

Some news site has scrolled through some random twitter comments, found a small handful amongst million others that complain about Tiana and Pocahontas looking "too white", and then they publish it like it is some mass movement on the net, and Disney on purpose has made an attempt to make them look more European.
The best way to describe it is fake news. It is not just Tiana and Pocahontas that looks different. As mentioned that is true for several other princesses as well, but complaints about those don't get the same attention as complaints about whitewashing.

I can go through comments about a random upcoming movie too, find a few that complains about the same thing, and then publish it as breaking news with huge headlines (assuming I was an editor in an online newspaper). In the old days nobody would give a damn about such comments, but today they are actually making the news.

FYI, guys. I'm going to be away starting tomorrow until September 3rd on a family vacation. So, that's why you won't hear me if there's big updates on this movie. Crossing my fingers to see some goodies when I return.

But, will we actually get one? Moana and Frozen had unique teaser trailers out right away. All of the countries has had the same trailers so far.

Rumpelstiltskin: This is the problem every time Disney does a movie about POC, there's always a outcry about everything and anything from a good, legit reason to a ridiculous one. Remember when SJWs made Disney pull its Maui costumes for LITTLE KIDS because "the culture is not a costume" when some, not all, South Islanders (I don't know the correct term  ) actually didn't care at all? When costumes having skins and muscles are actually a common thing?

I agree about Tiana and Pocahontas' skins being lightened up and Tiana's nose being too small. First, everyone was celebrating and praising Tiana's hair being natural. But now, people are complaining about it being DIFFERENT than the original, being "styled wrong" and too light. :eyebrow: Unfortunately, for social media, nothing is good enough....like this board and other boards in general

If I'm being ignorant or racist, please let me know.

Thanks for letting us know. We would certainly have worried if, for example, a new trailer was released and you didn't comment at all. Enjoy your vacation! :)

OK, it's true. Maybe there won't be a different trailer for Japan then.

I don't think you're racist at all. As you pointed out, there are some complaints about Disney that are legit and some that aren't, but everyone has the right to express their opinion. What isn't right, as Rumpelstiltskin said, is what these news sites are doing. I read this article from Deadline the other day and I thought the same, there are only a few Twitter posts featured in it and they are actually from only three people who complained about Tiana's hair. They publish every bit of controversy they find, because they know this kind of news gets more clicks.

I don't think it is possible to make everybody happy in that regard for the simple reason that there are always someone who are looking for something to complain about no matter what. The classics would not have been the same if there were social media back then.

Exactly. They're turning everything into clickbait, and the so-called "controversies" becomes a self-fulfilled prophecy. And then someone put it into a separate section on Wikipedia called "Criticism" or "Controversy".

Disney gets easily nailed on race issues for the same reason that they do for their portrayal of women: they have a long history of negative, problematic, and/or outright racist/sexist depictions in their films. This is something newer studios don’t get railed as hard on because they don’t have that history. Basically, writing articles about problematic things in Disney movies is an easy swing because it's a commonly-accepted opinion of Disney in general and that's why so many websites will jump on it over almost nothing with new releases.

I also think the poses of princesses on this poster look like they will be put on some promotional pictures or something.

I don't think the initial plan was to use the princesses in posters and marketing, but now I'm expecting to see them plastered everywhere for this film.
