This. I'm not that worried about the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, (homage to) BuzzFeed etc. references being dated because it'll be here for years to come. If not, they're still historical. They should have done a parody of eBay, but eBay itself is portrayed alright. ("It's like staring into my soul" sounds too hip to be honest)

What I'm worried about is how they're trying to catch up. Like the name Yesss. Ugh, it's terrible and trying too hard. That'll be dated in ten years. Why name the character herself BuzzTube? The title of the movie itself is already dated. And why OhMyDisney as its site? It's a good idea, but it won't stick around forever, so that itself will be dated as well.
Sotiris wrote:Is this going to be a real movie or just a prolonged commercial? People were heavily criticizing The Emoji Movie before its release for that reason alone but now that Disney's doing it, it's crickets.
This as well. With the teaser and seeing the OMD scene last year, I was thinking the whole time: How are they going to balance the story while building this world? Because from what I saw from both of these scenes, there's no reference to the story. Just, hey look at this!

And people are worried about this being like Emoji Movie as well. Every other post on Tumblr and Youtube is a comparison.

The first Ralph will age much better than the first, because we were already about two decades removed from much of what it was based on in the first place. This new one more or less happens today. That's a recipe for disaster
Another problem is how the sequel hardly features worlds or setting that are completely original. The first movie at least had fictional games that functioned liked real games yet were creative enough to surprise us.

The only thing interesting about the trailer was the exploding bunny scene, because it is at least going beyond our expectations of how the internet works.

I hated it, especially the princesses' scene where they are merely shells and lack any depth the true characters had.

Also, when was Belle kidnapped and enslaved?

I liked the trailer, just wish Disney had been a little more respectful to its own heritage regarding the Disney princesses.

^ I agree. I hated the princesses' part as well. It's not respectful at all. The search engine was funny, though. And it features a lot more product placement than I thought!

But they are indeed shells! :) These are not the real characters you see in their respective movies. They are merely online representations of the movie characters. I expect them to be mean, shallow and bitchy. I'm serious.

Who cares? Just laugh. :P I know I did when Snow White became all operatic. It's like Rich Moore and co. researched this very forum and found Escapay's nickname for Snow - The Shrill.

By the way, seeing the Disney and Pixar Animation brands, Star Wars and Marvel in a WDAS-produced film is insanely cool in my book. Now I feel I really must watch the Star Wars and Marvel Cinematic Universe movies before seeing WiR2 to catch the references in the finished film!

Seriously I still haven't watched Star Wars and the only MCU film I've seen is the first Iron Man.

Thank god they look so much better in motion.
Can anyone grab a better screenshots of their faces?
Also, do we know who voices Aurora, Snow White and Cinderella?

Well, to give my thoughts:

Vanellope was certainly one of my favorite characters in the movie, because I thought she was endearing, despite her significant flaws. However, it's hard to deny that Sarah Silverman's voice is still quite grating. And here she was no exception, so I'm kinda torn of my appreciation for the character.

Otherwise, I got a Disney Infinity vibe by the design of both Eeyore and the Princesses. Looking closer at them, I find their designs underwhelming. Perhaps not horrendously bad, but still disappointing. With the exception of the Revival Princesses, as Anna, Elsa and Rapunzel, they all looked bad (but it's notable that Pocahontas' hair was blowed in the wind :P).

I was intrigued by Yess, though, and found her charming and funny. I guess she could be one of the things that redeems the film.

Thank you! and you weren't rude at all, just stated your opinion and that's fine.

I am really glad I found this place, I've been searching for a long time for a place to have discussions on Disney and a lot of them like Facebook and Reddit are awful. This board seems really great :)

THANK YOU! SOMEONE SAD IT!!!!   The parody is clear! And ahhhhhhhhh, it's just as wonderful as I remember!!! :D The only ones who are little bitchy are Cinderella and Aurora for teasing CP30, but it's in really good fun. And I agree on Belle saying kidnapped and enslaved. She was neither, but the delivery of that line is awesome!

Anyway, I loved seeing Ralph and Vanellope again and I'm glad we get an explanation of the movie title, but WHERE IS THE STORY?! We know the worlds well, but WHY are they there? They're trying to save Sugar Rush (which is why Vanellope sleeping w/ Ralph), but explain that! How's Felix and Calhoun? Sugar Rush racers? Nicelanders? I'm really worried about their screen time. Rich Moore said the second plot is about Felix and Calhoun, so the wait must be worth it.

TWO THINGS:

1. One of the movie writers Pamela Ribon is Snow White
https://twitter.com/pamelaribon/status/ ... 3615455233

2. LIST OF DIFFERENCES FROM THE EXPO:

-Addition of Eeyore, who is ADORABLE BTW

-Addition of the storm troopers and them going after Vanellope

-Vanellope accidentally glitches into the princess room. In the original, she sneaks in on purpose.

-Vanellope going “Ewwwww, princesses” is brand new.

-So, I’m guessing the pranking dialogue is out.

-At the expo, when the princesses go into combat, it was all them together in one shot. Now, it’s just Cinderella, Jasmine, and Pocahontas.

-Aurora getting hypnotized at her "Curse" line is gone

I loved it. That sequence with the Princesses was hilarious. And I love their designs. :)

That is literally the only reason I'll be seeing this in theaters. I will need to check the first one, too

I think it's hilarious and awesome that Disney is allowing their animation studio to poke fun at themselves and their overly-glorified princess franchise, so I'm finding this apparently controversial scene a hoot. :milkbuds:

I think that stylistically, they needed the look and feel of the princess to be cohesive and match the overall design of the film; I already think they look lovely here, but keeping this in mind they're totally spot-on.

A big part of the fun with The Wreck-It Ralph universe is all about irreverence and meta-jokes: seeing the characters we know and love as well as their tropes from an entirely different angle. I seem to recall Jodi Benson saying she was initially worried the scene would be disrespectful of the princesses and their individual journeys (something to that effect, anyway), but was satisfied with how it was handled when seeing it close to its final form. Say what you want, but what we have here is an affectionate parody that the creators clearly had a blast making. The types of gags we're seeing are very reminiscent of Amy Mebberson's Pocket Princesses, gently poking fun at these characters and imagining the silliness of how they might interact if they all hung out together. I see nothing disrespectful about that.

Anyway, I can't wait to see them relaxing in their comfy sweats.

Thank you! Some of them really look much better to me now. I just can't stand Cinderella and Pocahontas, that's all. Oh, and I couldn't find Tiana, Anna and Elsa, were the pictures of them there before?

Also, I'm shocked they used Merida's redesign as a base for her look! At least it look that way, with sparkly dress and everything.

And oh my, those comments on facebook. I don't mind that people don't like the design, I needed to warm up to them as well. But how hard it is to do some quick research and learn it is a one time only look, not some major change in their designs for all media?

Looking at the scene again, the only animal sidekick who really looks good is Rajah. Perhaps not exactly as his former self, but still good enough. The others looks just as lackluster as the Princesses; https://cdn.flickeringmyth.com/wp-conte ... enshot.png

I'm also surprised that Rapunzel doesn't even sound like her herself on the trailer.

DisneyFan09 wrote:Unfortunately that's the release rut that Disney has been stuck with (being a Norwegian, I know a lot of this), since Disney movies gets released overseas about three months after their Domestical release. There has been a few exceptions, though, when some fall releases have been released overseas during Christmas time (as with Treasure Planet and Frozen). But it used to be worse priorly. Usually when Disney released their movies, they didn't come overseas after the folllowing year. And when Disney began with their summer releases (during the nineties and the early 2000's), they were released usually five months after their domestically releases. I guess it must have been because of the Christmas seasons, so it explains it. But it has been worse.
It was understandable back when the theatres used actual film, but now when they have been digitally converted and they use a digital distribution system, it is more difficult to understand why many countries have to wait for months before it is available. That's one of the main reasons why some go for illegal streaming instead.

I already knew these three characters looked pretty bad from the last shot, but... Lordy, lordy. They probably didn't want to waste much time perfecting the princess designs over the other original content, but jeez. Btw, my criticism is aimed squarely at the horrible 3D translation of the characters. I don't mind the idea of a scene mocking the princesses itself (other than the product placement aspect of it).
