Re: Most anticipated Disney movie of 2018
By order of excitement:
1. A Wrinkle in Time ~ I grew up on this book (series) and I'm happy to see it's finally getting the pull-out-all-the-stops adaptation it deserves. The TV film wasn't too great despite some good actors, whereas this looks fantastic already.
2. Mary Poppins Returns ~ So odd that I'm this excited for this because I'm not really a Mary Poppins fan. I liked the original well-enough (more for its music, tbh, although I loved Julie Andrews as Mary and any scene with the maid, cook, or Glynis Johns), but the list of actors attached is incredible. Wishaw, Lansbury, Walters, Firth, Blunt, Streep...! I can't not be excited for that.
3. Incredibles 2 ~ This would've been my number 1 if they had aged the children up. Now I'm a little disappointed. But I still loved the first one and I trust Brad Bird. Elastigirl being more of the main character this time is already an improvement considering she was my favorite character.
4. Black Panther ~ I loved the actor in the Avengers film he appeared in (the same one where Tom Holland first appeared as Spider-Man). I wouldn't have even paid attention to this if I hadn't seen the character/actor's performance in that film.
5. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms ~ I have not read the books these are based on, but I always did like the Nutcracker animated film that would air as a child and the trailer for this looks pretty interesting. Plus, Helen Mirren as the villain!
A lot of good actors are involved, but Mirren is definitely the one I'm most interested in seeing.
6. Christopher Robin ~ Well, I'm a fan of Winnie the Pooh and I've always liked Ewan McGregor as an actor, so... The film could be really good or horrible, who can say. I'll just say the concept of a disillusioned CR returning briefly to his childhood companions sounds like a decent-enough idea on paper.
7. Ant-Man and the Wasp ~ I only recently got around to watching Ant-Man about two months ago (again because of the Avengers film I mentioned above where Tom Holland as Spider-Man and also BP appeared). I've always liked Paul Rudd, but the film itself never looked that interesting to me when it was released. The first one was moderately entertaining, nothing outstanding, but I'll watch a sequel for (the fine as hell) Paul Rudd, Michael Douglass, and the actress from LOST (I forget her name right off).
8. Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph ~ I didn't mind the first one, but I was not enthusiastic about it either. I'll see it, of course. So far it doesn't sound too great, jmo.
9. Avengers: Infinity War ~ Despite the fact that I mentioned a past Avengers film as my reason for being excited for two other films on this list (
), I don't really care about the Avengers films. I only saw the one for Tom Holland. This one I'll probably get around to--...again for Holland--but it's not a priority by any means.
10. Solo: A Star Wars Story ~ Won't see this at all.

Re: Most anticipated Disney movie of 2018
The Incredibles 2 easily. I was obsessed with the first film when it came out. I'm so glad it's picking up right where they left off at the end of the first film. Really hope this turns into a full franchise like Cars and Toy Story (it's certainly more deserving than the former).
My second choice would be The Nutcracker, just because I love the story and always wanted to see a Disney take on it. The cast is great too. Also excited for A Wrinkle in Time and Avengers: Infinity War.
I was also especially excited for the Wreck-It Ralph sequel, but I've become a bit disillusioned by it so we'll see.
I have little interest in Solo, the film no Star Wars fan was asking for. But I know I'll see it, good or bad anyway. The film I have the least interest in is Christopher Robin which I highly doubt I'll see. I already wasn't a fan of the film but Ewan McGregor as the lead has totally turned me off it completely. Although it'll be difficult to blacklist any films of his completely if we do get a Kenobi film after all, which now I'm hoping we don't.

Re: Most anticipated Disney movie of 2018
From most to least interested in:
01. Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2
Mainly because I'm curious about the Disney Princess scene.
02. Mary Poppins Returns
Just for the 2D-animated scene.
03. Christopher Robin
I wonder how they'll handle the look/animation of Winnie and co.
04. Incredibles 2
Will it be as good as the first or will it be another Finding Dory?
05. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
Will they be able to pull off a live-action fairytale that didn't originate as an animated one?
06. A Wrinkle in Time
The visuals look nice but the story seems kind of trite.
07. Avengers: Infinity War
Cool to see all those superheroes together.
08. Black Panther
Nice art direction and production design.
09. Ant-Man and the Wasp
Including the Wasp already makes this better that the first one.
10. Solo: A Star Wars Story
I have zero interest in anything Star Wars.

Re: Most anticipated Disney movie of 2018
1. Avengers: Infinity War - 18 movies have been leading up to this moment for the past ten years. Very excited to find out if it was all worth it.
2. Ant-Man and The Wasp - Ant-Man was, somewhat surprisingly, one of the most enjoyable films thus far in the MCU for me. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the sequel.
3. The Incredibles 2 - The first one has always been a middle of the pack Pixar movie for me, but everything we've seen so far has me excited for the sequel.
4. Black Panther - I wish it had come out before the Advertising for Infinity War began because it just seems really predictable at this point. Still looks intriguing and Black Panther was a breakout in Civil War so we'll see.
5. A Wrinkle in Time - I kinda remember the book from when I was younger, but the advertising has been great so far. Looks very interesting.
6. Mary Poppins Returns - Outside the soundtrack I've never been big on Mary Poppins, but I love Emily Blunt so I'm excited to see her take on the role.
7. Christopher Robin - Sounds like it could go either way, but I'm intrigued by the premise.
8. Solo: A Star Wars Story - I hated Rogue One, so let's see if the second in this series can make me a fan of the Extended Star Wars Cinematic Universe.
9. Ralph Breaks the Internet - By far my least favourite DAC of the modern CGI era. The Sequel has done nothing to make me believe I will like it more than the first. Will see entirely out of brand loyalty.
10. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms - Zero interest at this point.

I'd be fine with a FD, but then I was never a big enough fan to FN to see much fall in quality myself. MU on the other hand is trash in comparison to Monsters, Inc. I'm hoping Incredibles 2 (which looks and sounds incredibly stupid without "the" in front of it--but stupid titles are nothing new for Disney/PIXAR at this point) is more in line with the Toy Story franchise.Sotiris wrote:04. Oops, it's true! Sorry, I should've checked the list of releases on other sources as well to make sure it was correct. I guess now it's too late to add it, or can I edit the poll without losing the votes already cast?Sotiris wrote:You forgot Disneynature's Dolphins which will be released on April 22nd.

I voted for Wreck it Ralph 2, but I'm also excited for The Black Panther, Avengers, Nutcracker and Mary Poppins.

Re: Most anticipated Disney movie of 2018
I asked you what were your most anticipated Disney movies of the year, but I didn’t share mine. Well, the films I’m more excited about are usually the animated releases from both Disney and Pixar. This year, both of them are sequels, which makes me a little less excited about them. However, Incredibles 2 is the one I’m looking forward to the most. I didn’t need a sequel for The Incredibles, but the first one is very good and has great characters, so it has a lot of potential. And though after Tomorrowland my faith in Brad Bird has decreased a bit, I’ve liked all his other films so I’m hopeful this one will be good too.
Despite what I’ve said, Ralph Breaks the Internet is not my second on the list. While I like the first, it’s not one of my favorites. Right now I’m more interested in The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Mary Poppins Returns and A Wrinkle in Time (in that order) than in the Wreck-It Ralph sequel. Maybe when I know more about the film, I will get more excited about it.
I’m also very curious about Christopher Robin, but not excited yet. From what we’ve heard from it so far, it could be either really good or really bad. We’ll see.
From Marvel, the one I’m looking forward to the most is Black Panther. Now even more than before knowing it has great reviews. I’m excited for Infinity War too (especially because the Guardians of the Galaxy are in it), but I usually prefer the individual superhero movies to the ensemble ones. I also want to see Ant-Man and the Wasp, but I’m not sure if I’ll see it in the theater or not.
As for Solo, I don’t know. It doesn’t look bad from the trailer, but Harrison Ford is very difficult to replace. I know I’ll see it, but right now my expectatives aren’t too high, which is usually is a good thing.

Disneynature´s DOLPINS scrapped!! :(
This film is sadly taken of the theatrical release schedule. I really hope we will see it in any other form, Blu-Ray or DVD, not only On-Demand as they did with GHOST OF THE MOUNTAINS, EXPEDITION CHINA and GROWING UP WILD, which I can not see or buy outside of US (anyone in US who can help me buy these?). Such a disappointment for all of us outside of US.Sotiris wrote:You forgot Disneynature's Dolphins which will be released on April 22nd.D82 wrote:The films are ordered by release date. Re: Most anticipated Disney movie of 2018
Why would they scrap this particular DisneyNature release but keep the one slated for next year? If these nature documentaries are profitable enough for theatrical exhibition, why is Disney so inconsistent and arbitrary with which ones get released theatrically? Just pick a platform and stick with it.

Great idea, Sotiris! Thanks for such a complete and detailed list. It's really interesting to compare the review scores and box office numbers of all these movies. I'll think about my ranking and I'll post it later on, but I think you can already guess which one was my favorite of the year.Sotiris wrote:Now that all of them have finished their theatrical run both stateside and abroad, let's see how they performed with critics and audiences.
