I agree. This was probably the film's best trailer yet.

So, this is NOT a musical. Disney was actually honest about that for one  Really great music though! Anthony's voice is beautiful!

Thanks, RyGuy! I like the songs. Though perhaps not very original, they're cheerful and fun. And the French poster is beautiful. France and Japan always get better posters than the rest of countries.

Disney Latino has also released a snippet of a song form the film's soundtrack titled La Bikina, which is sung by Karol Sevilla and is a new version of a famous Mexican song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8Q448FIQyA

I think there will be more songs, but maybe these are the only ones sung by the characters in the film.

Sotiris wrote:The way the studios under Lasseter use the term "co-director" is not only incorrect but plain stupid. The prefix co- indicates association between equal parties. If there's more than one director, then all of them are by default co-directors. You can't label the one as a director while the other as a co-director. The way Disney uses it makes it seems like the prefix co- indicates an inferior position when it doesn't. And all of this nonsense because they have an inexplicable aversion to the very common and widely acceptable term "assistant director".
That has always confused me. At first I thought both directors were equally important, as it should be according to the meaning of the word. But then I noticed one was referred to as the director and the other(s) as co-director(s). I understood one was the main director and the other(s) had an inferior position, but I didn't understand why they used the term that way, so I began to question if I really knew what the word "co-director" meant. Now, thanks to your explanation I know it wasn't strange I was confused.

You poor thing. Disney's making you doubt yourself.

This is something seemingly small or trivial but it bugs the heck out of me. Its erroneous use is also inconsistent because the live-action division doesn't do that. And neither did WDAS prior to Lasseter's takeover. This is not a company-wide policy. It's just another stupid thing that Lasseter established at Pixar and then imported to Disney.

Illumination has also used the co-director credit for a couple of their films (The Lorax, The Secret Life of Pets). Blue Sky also credited Carlos Saldanha as a co-director on Ice Age and Robots, which makes sense as Saldanha has always been Chris Wedge's right-hand man when handling the creative side of the studio. However, Blue Sky hasn't used the co-director credit since Saldanha started solo directing.

When I was at Epcot on Saturday, some of the display cases in the lobby of the Mexican pavilion said that they're working on future magic, or however they worded it, and my husband said that they're probably putting Coco displays in.

http://www.disneytouristblog.com/paid-f ... ld-rumors/
On the rumor front, the concept of Coco taking over Gran Fiesta Tour in Epcot is once again gaining steam. Martin reported on this WDWMagic thread (http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/very ... st-7872867) that it looks like this long-rumored overlay to Mexico’s boat ride is likely to happen, and will be somewhere on par with Gran Fiesta Tour (but smaller than Frozen Ever After) in terms of scope.
Assuming this rumor has some veracity to it (and I will, since Martin is reliable), I think the questions become: 1) whether this one probably hinges upon Coco‘s box office success this fall; and, 2) if the movie is a hit, and the attraction is green-lit, does the Mexico pavilion see a bigger redesign (and removal of gift shops) to free up queue space, and also potentially make the attraction more elaborate?

My guesses: yes to both questions. I suspect that Coco will be a hit. If it is, integrating its characters into a boat ride with virtually no queue will be a recipe for disaster.
There were no indications that anything was changing to Gran Fiesta Tour when I rode it...I wonder if they do a Coco overlay, if it'll be after the movie premieres, and they'll decide if it does well to put in the ride...? It only took about 3 months for the El Rio Del Tiempo to change to Gran Fiesta Tour, but we're already in mid-September, so that's why I'm guessing if there is a change to the ride, it'll be after Coco comes out.

^Oh, I much prefer this version than the one Benjamin Bratt sings in the movie. I like that they lowered the tempo and how they altered the orchestration. Rivera's voice sounds better than Bratt's too. I hope we get an English-language Latin pop version of the song too.

^ That is so good!!! I agree with Sotiris about the tempo (but I like the original version, too). I hope this version is on the soundtrack not just in Latin America!

the design of that flying panther sure looks familiar...really wish they would have used a feathered serpent or some other magical native Central/South American creature than something that's already been seen on a Disney Jr. show. :|

unless they came up with the design first and Elena creators just happened to come up with the same concept. I know concept artists move around a lot b/w projects/jobs...who knows.

Yes, this version is really good. I also think I like it more than the one in the movie. Regarding Benjamin Bratt's performance, he mentioned in an interview he had never sung professionally before, though he received training for this role. I think he does a decent job, but not good enough for a character that is supposed to be one of Mexico's greatest musicians of all time. I don't know why they didn't cast someone who could sing for a role like this, or at least hire someone else to do the singing voice.

And speaking of the music, it seems there will be at least one more original song, apart from the ones we have already heard:
One of the songs played for the press was an original creation that will be heard well into the film, and it would give away too much information to say how and why it fits into the story. However, this piece of music was apparently created by the citizens of the land of the dead who had no family left to remember them. Therefore, they’ve created their own family and culture in the afterlife.
