Yes, this version is really good. I also think I like it more than the one in the movie. Regarding Benjamin Bratt's performance, he mentioned in an interview he had never sung professionally before, though he received training for this role. I think he does a decent job, but not good enough for a character that is supposed to be one of Mexico's greatest musicians of all time. I don't know why they didn't cast someone who could sing for a role like this, or at least hire someone else to do the singing voice.
And speaking of the music, it seems there will be at least one more original song, apart from the ones we have already heard:
