I dont understand why they didnt just do a Henry spin-off instead of this "reboot but still the same series" nonsense. Just seems like the way they are approaching things is gonna annoy followers and confuse the newcomers they desperately want to get.

Season 7 is blatantly copying season 1. I'm not just talking about having another curse that erases people's memories but settings as well as character relationships and dynamics.

Because after the Wonderland spin-off, I think they feared that a new show would hemorrhage even more viewers. Keeping the same name of the show (even if it is basically an entirely new show) might still secure the viewers they already have.

they could have kept the same name though, just called it Once Upon a Time: New Chapter/Book or Vol. 2, whatever. And just keep the same time slot.

This whole thing makes absolutely no sense.

Actually, I feel like its actually doing a massive disservice to the wonderful finale they just gave us. That would be the perfect end, none of the nonsense they are cooking up now.

What truly irks me is Emma. She was finally, finally happy, and about to experience her 'Happy Beginning' ... from all I can gather, Emma will now receive the opposite of this in the new book. Adam even said this was Emma's 'curtain call'; how depressing does that sound ?!

I'm really torn whether to watch it or not. Totally conflicted; its my favourite show, so of course I would watch. But then this is such a tragic disservice, I don't know if I want to.

What do you think you guys are going to do ?

For me the end of season 6 was the end for the original cast of characters, regardless of what they decide to do with them in season 7.

Since they planned the show out to go on as long as viewers were willing to see more, I am accepting what they are doing. It's the same writers, they were not goaded by anyone to write more, they chose to do it. So as long as no one is making them create more, whatever they create I am accepting as the true fate of the characters and show.

I am very excited my favorite story (Cinderella) gets the main focus in this new season. Whether I will like what they do is uncertain, as I wish Cinderella's dress and coach were better, but that's not that big a deal. What matters is what the characters do and how the actors are. I'd rather see Emma, Snow and Charming, but maybe I'll love these new characters. And at least my favorite character is returning, Regina. And I really like Hook. Rumple I like, just not as much as those two others.

I won't be watching live anymore because I already have another show that was also moved to OUAT's new Friday timeslot and I'd rather give that show more viewership so it can get renewed again for another season. I'll catch up on the episodes on either Saturday or Sunday.

Agreed. It's super odd that they would do a spin-off on Henry and Violet after confirming that they won't end up together. I do wonder though if an adult Violet will ever appear again in season 7. (this may already have been confirmed or not though).

The Princess and the Frog heroine, whose cursed counterpart is named Sabine, will also get the flashback treatment in episode 5. “We’re not redoing the movie, but we’re taking it as a jumping off point,” executive producer Adam Horowitz says. “We have a OUAT spin.”

They better not kill off Emma. I'm tempted to only watch the first two episodes of the season or not watch at all until I know what happens to Emma and Hook.

The showrunners tease the new season.

A grown Henry has been recruited for a mission by a storybook-toting child he didn’t know he had? You might think Season 7’s premiere will thus echo the series’ very first episode, but “we’re not doing what we did in the pilot, which is a curse hits and rips everyone away [from their lives],” says co-creator Adam Horowitz. “The first episode is not about the curse, when it happened or how it happened. We’re coming at this a different way.”

What we do know is that in Seattle’s Hyperion Heights, Regina, Hook and Rumple have new indentities (bar owner Roni, policeman Rogers and a “menacing” someone), and Henry and daughter Lucy must enlist them to fight a new evil. Cue Gabrielle Anwar as the infamous stepmother of Cinderella (Dania Ramirez) aka Henry’s baby momma. “What’s awesome about Lady Tremaine is… exactly what I can’t tell you,” Horowitz teases. “But Gabrielle is bringing levels of humanity to a character whose name has Evil in it.”

Regina might get a new romance, but that’s far from her main storyline. “There are so many other things she has to deal with — both Regina and [Roni] — and central to that is her relationship with Henry,” whom she doesn’t recognize at first, says Horowitz. “It’s been exciting to dive into a mother-son relationship from a new angle.”

I really like it. Not just because it has Cinderella on it. One thing I really like is how it shows action and has a location and someone doing something.
