Of the Platinums I only have Beauty And The Beast, and I don't have it as a Platinum but as the red book case-like R2 PAL Collectors Edition.
I also have Sleeping Beauty which I think is a Platinum edition by any other name :P

I'm like Scabbie, my wish list is everything! But i'll probably get them all in PAL non Platinum Edition box sets

(I already have some of the Platinum movies in Laserdisc:
Snow White
Bambi
Cinderella
The Jungle Book
The Little Mermaid
Aladdin [in Widescreen])

Platinums

Post by disneyunlimited »

Yep, the 'Platinum Edition' are just plain old 'Special Edition' or 'Collectors Edition' here in the UK. So the 2-disc releases of B&TB (i.e. the red book), the Lion King and the soon to be released Aladdin are SEs, whereas the remaining 2-disc R2 titles - Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Tarzan, Atlantis and The Emperor's New Groove - are all CEs.

Yes, you mean this http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... tedisne-21, I've got this too. It is called CE, although has the same contents of the American Platinum.

To get the OOP Snow White I bought it of Amazon about two months ago.

B&TB

Post by disneyunlimited »

Yes, very confusing. The 2-disc B&TB is both a SE AND a CE !!!

Image

Which just leaves the R2 Lion King which doesn't mention CE anywhere on the packaging, but then again, Lion King is the only UK 2-disc edition NOT available as a single disc!

Well mine is not exactly that one, since i didn't buy it in the United Kingdom, the cover doesn't say Special Edition just Collectors Edition (twice)

It includes a couple of extra things, like this music video:

I've now listened to BatB in 5 totally different soundtracks.

Alternate covers

Post by disneyunlimited »

Wow, some great alternate covers. I like the oval shape on the Dutch cover. I presume that's a cut-out revealing Belle and the Beast underneath?

No, it isn't
But it's a great cover and I'm very happy with it!

The oval cutout Idea would have been great! Like those ancient photo frames! ;)

Or maybe a sugestion of the Beast's mirror? :)

I think "Special Edition" refers to the SE of the movie with the "Human Again" sequence added to it, while the "Collector's Edition" refers to the DVD itself.
