Re: Once Upon a Time (ABC TV series)
Finally got a chance to watch the episode. I actually enjoyed it, continuity errors aside, considering that most OUAT episodes suffer from that. Rumple telling the Charmings that they can't raise Emma because she would no longer be the savior makes no sense considering the original plan was for both Charmings to go with Emma through the wardrobe and raise her as the savior before they would return 28 years later to battle the Evil Queen. Even with David couldn't go because Pinocchio took his place, Snow was still supposed to go since she was carrying Emma. I suppose despite that discrepancy, this was still a better retcon than Snow and David kidnapping a baby so they could purge their daughter of evil.
I'm glad that Hook is finally back, and while I didn't miss the Charmings very much, it's also nice that their storyline of being put under the curse isn't being dragged out much longer. Wasn't expecting Tiger Lily but I expect we'll see her again in a Black Fairy origin episode soon.
So glad next episode is Zelena centric. I was worried they would kill her off too but I think she's been seen filming for later episodes including the finale. Also she's supposed to have a part in the musical episode so I think we should be safe for now with her. I'd love if she makes it into the next season/reboot but I know she isn't popular with fans so that's unlikely.

Re: Once Upon a Time (ABC TV series)
I suppose the Charmings coming back once before the curse was broken does sort of diminish the time they did when the curse was lifted, but I still liked it and didn't mind. I thought it was rather beautiful, with all they did and all that happened to them in the episode. And I don't think Emma was "not saving" her parents, she knew there would be a way to free them, but at least she knew where they were and that they were safe from death, unlike Hook.Sotiris wrote:I didn't care for the latest episode. The retcon was full of continuity errors, plot holes, and contrivances, not to mention that it diminished the impact of Snow and Charming reuniting in the 1st season. Emma choosing to save Hook over her parents felt wrong. I hope they won't kill off Zelena in the next episode. If they need to write her off the show, they can send her back to Oz with her baby. She already sacrificed her true love, why must she give up her own life too?
So the original plan was for the Charmings to go through while Snow was pregnant? Isn't that kind of three people going through? I suppose that's getting into religion and ethics though. I hated that stupid "take the evil out of Emma" thing. The show is about having both darkness and goodness in you! It didn't even really make sense that there would be darkness in her from, like, conception or whatever.JeanGreyForever wrote:Finally got a chance to watch the episode. Re: Once Upon a Time (ABC TV series)
In the Pinocchio episode of season 1, the Blue Fairy tasks Geppetto with making the wardrobe and tells him that the wardrobe has enough magic to save two people. The plan was for David and Snow to go through the wardrobe while she was pregnant with Emma. But Geppetto would only agree if Pinocchio was allowed to take David's spot so the Blue Fairy had to lie to the Charmings and tell them that the wardrobe could only take one person, since they didn't know Pinocchio would be going in first. So Snow was supposed to go alone then but the plan alters again when she suddenly gives birth to Emma before the wardrobe is finalized. That's when they realize they have to send her alone because they think the wardrobe can only take one person. The Blue Fairy knows the truth and confronts Geppetto to make him back out of the deal but he sends Pinocchio in anyway saying that Pinocchio can raise Emma as the savior and do what Snow was supposed to do (nevermind that Pinocchio is only about a 7 year old boy and has no business raising a baby).Disney Duster wrote:So the original plan was for the Charmings to go through while Snow was pregnant? Re: Once Upon a Time (ABC TV series)
This was an ok episode. I'm glad Zelena got the spotlight but I got sick of Regina constantly harping on her. I'm glad by the end of the episode, the enmity between the two seemed to be solved even if it was at the cost of Zelena's powers. I think it was a little unfair that she had to give up her powers but I suppose in this show nothing ever remains constant (just look at Pinocchio's fluctuating age). It makes sense since they'll probably write her off like the Charmings after this season anyway. I am glad though that they acknowledged that Zelena is the more powerful of the two sisters. After the initial Wicked arc, they seemed to have forgotten that which Regina even referenced when she mentioned how the Evil Queen beat her.
The flashback episode was pretty boring imo. As a fan of the Oz books and films, I've found that the Oz flashbacks on this show have all been pretty lackluster. I normally don't hate on the CGi for this show like most other people do but that lion was the case I've seen so far. It was really difficult to stomach any scene with him.
Snow as usual finds a way to annoy me. Only she would think that a wedding in a cramped diner would be magical (or a bathroom like she later suggests).
The Rumple twist might be interesting but then again I remember what Regina's deep dark secret that Snow betrayed was back in season 1 so it might just be overhyped. I know lots of fans have been thinking that the Blue Fairy is secretly evil or in cahoots with the Black Fairy so I was expecting something more like that.

Yeah, Regina was a huge bitch. Zelena truly is the best of the Mills family. I liked that the Black Fairy clarified that Zelena’s powers are so powerful because they’re unstable, which really fits Zelena’s character.

Re: Once Upon a Time (ABC TV series)
This episode was kinda meh. It felt like a filler. The Oz flashbacks were boring and the CG for the Cowardly Lion was really off. It was odd that Regina and Zelena said they were trapped in the mines when both of them can smoke-teleport at any time. I liked that Zelena confronted Regina about blaming her for Robin's demise when she sacrificed her true love to save her life. I'm glad the two sisters are finally working things out. It's been a long time coming. Snow and Charming both made valid points about the wedding but it was the right call to wait so they won't have this dark cloud hovering over them on their wedding day. As for the Black Fairy's secret, I think it's going to be that she didn't want to give Rumple up but she had to for some reason and that revelation may tempt Rumple to join her.

Ok writers, we get it, Zelena is "wicked." You dont have to keep using the word over and over!
did anyone catch "Ruby" at the diner?

No reboot. Just end the series already. Why can't Hollywood come up with new ideas anymore?

Yea, I agree basically with JeanGreyForever, Disney's Divinity, and Sotiris except I actually liked the episode and didn't find it meh or like filler especially when Regina and Zelena made up and Zelena made a big change for the cause of goodness. I hope she gets her magic back somehow though. I also don't hate Snow, but yes, picking the diner as a wedding place is dumb.

Zelena proving again why she’s the only thing saving this show anymore: even without magic, she actually does something instead of standing around posturing. Mow down the b****!
Reminds me of when Ariel stabbed Regina with a fork. Maybe it’s a redhead thing.

My fav moment of the episode as well. So glad they didn't ship her off to NY like I was afraid they would.Disney's Divinity wrote:Zelena proving again why she’s the only thing saving this show anymore: even without magic, she actually does something instead of standing around posturing. When I saw the red and blue fairies at the beginning, I had hopes that they would introduce Flora and Merryweather. It's weird actually that they never got to be in the show. Maybe if there had been a proper Maleficent arc, then we could have seen them along with Fauna. The flashback wasn't very interesting to me. They literally just took all the highlights of Rumple's life and gave those to the Black Fairy for the purpose of creating parallels between them. Seems more like they couldn't think of anything actually exciting so they thought they might as well retread what they've done before.
Next episode will be exciting though with the long awaited musical episode.

I really enjoyed this episode. It was the season's highlight, for me. I loved the Black Fairy's backstory and its parallels to Rumple's. Character motivations were reasonable and consistent. The exchange between Regina and Zelena was sweet and felt genuine and Zelena running over the Black Fairy was hilarious.
I wish every episode could be this good.

Loved last night's episode! Especially the giant plot twist about Rumple being the REAL Savior all along. Cool he's an Anti-Savior, like an Anti-Christ character And Zelena running over Fiona

You know, I'm surprised--and glad--that they gave a solo to Zelena and not Regina (along with of course Hook and Emma each having their own solos). I really hope this episode isn't too atrocious.
I know they'll all be autotuned to within an inch of their lives and the music will probably be weak....

Yea, I agree that this was quit ea good episode, Sotiris, and also loved what Zelena did to the Black Fairy Sotiris, Disney's Divinity, and JeanGreyForever.
And yea JeanGreyForever, I thought we would see the Three Good Fairies from Sleeping Beauty, too, with the yellow one just being their version of Fauna. I wish we could see those characters on the show.
So, I wanna know if Tiger Lily used to be the Native American chief's daughter in Neverland or if she went there later and lost her fairy magic and got adopted as a Native American there. Her background is confusing.
Also how come when Snow and Charming were under the sleeping curse where only one of them could be awake at a time, neither of them seemed to be in that fiery hell that I thought you were supposed to be in when you were under the sleeping curse? Should I assume it's just because it was a different, special sleeping curse?

Re: Once Upon a Time (ABC TV series)
It's' been a while since the Neverland arc but I don't think they ever mentioned Native Americans in Neverland. I'm assuming in the OUAT show, Neverland has no Native Americans. Tiger Lily is just a fairy who ends up on losing her powers and stuck on Neverland like Tinker Bell was. But she's not the daughter of a chief or anything because there are no Native people there. Probably best not to open that can of worms anyway so most Neverland depictions of the Native Americans have always been controversial. Disney's 1953 Peter Pan and the Pan movie a year or two ago are good case examples of that. The only time I've seen a positive portrayal was the 2003 Universal Peter Pan live-action film since the actress playing Tiger Lily was actually Native American and spoke in her native language in the film.Disney Duster wrote:Yea, I agree that this was quit ea good episode, Sotiris, and also loved what Zelena did to the Black Fairy Sotiris, Disney's Divinity, and JeanGreyForever.

I think the fiery dreamworld that was introduced in Season 2 has been ignored by writers since. I don't remember it being mentioned ever since and there have been quite a few characters under a sleeping curse since. Belle for example never mentioned it when she went under it. Wasn't fake Marian/Zelena under it too after she was frozen by Ingrid or was she just asleep because Ingrid froze her heart? I can't remember if they put her to sleep after that or not.
