90 is a good long life. Still, this is sad news. RIP Mr. Rickles.

Definitely sad to hear. Though he lived the definition of a full life I'd say.

The big thing on my mind right now is whether or not he was able to record his role for Toy Story 4. Hanks and some others have been in the booth for at least 3 sessions in the past 2 years, was Don one of them? I don't believe I've heard anything about it. My gut tells me no. Hope I'm wrong.

If he hasn't, would they go the impersonator route? Would it be too soon? Does anyone even do a convincing Rickles? I haven't heard any yet.

Unfortunately, he didn't get to record his part.
Toy Story 4 is due in 2019, but Rickles hadn’t recorded for it before his death because the script was still being written, says his longtime spokesman Paul Shefrin, who confirmed his death from kidney failure.

Another reason why Toy Story 4 shouldn't be happening  (he can be replaced a la Slinky and Rex, but still)

Who was the second character who lost his voice actor? Or was it just Slinky before today?

Well, we lost Joe Ranft as Wheezy, but they didn't replace him. No one else comes to mind. (for the toy story franchise that is)

Might be thinking of Cars 2, which had to replace George Carlin. They just retired the Doc Hudson character after Paul Newman passed away.

Mr Potato Head is part of the core group of toys (as he was in Woody's rescue party and was one of the toys given to Bonnie), so I'm not sure what Pixar will do in this situation.

I think Jerry Stiller would be a good replacement.

He's pretty old himself, but here's a clip of a Christmas special he voiced in 2014. He sounds like he could totally pull it off.
