I heard it got BAD reviews (newspaper info) and it only got.......what? 3 stars or something?
See, I don't give a crap bout the reviews and ratings. I wanna see it so I can see what happens. This movie is INTERESTING. That's all I have for this is that it's interesting. Has anyone else seen it and if so did ya like it? Or were you dissapointed like the others that saw it? (Ppl said it went bad in the middle)
Also, PLEASE TELL ME if they show teh creatures of doom!..and blood! JUST DON'T tell me what they look like if they DO show them!
I didn't go see it. My folks told me that they went to see it and it was terrible and not a horror movie at all. They said I should save my money and I am taking their advice.
Some have called it Shyamalan's best movie yet. I completely disagree with this statement. I believe Sixth Sense is still #1, Signs #2, I've never seen Unbreakable, but it would prob be close to Village. This IS NOT a Horror/Thriller movie, it is a Romantic film. It is nothing like the movie has been advertised as. Even in the end, once you find out the like fourth surprise you didnt expect; the film seems like a total waste of time! Every single part of the story is completely redundant by the end. The "monsters" (wink, wink) look horrible, I wont give anyway any spoilers, but at least they arent CGI . The one part I did enjoy though was seeing Night's standard cameo; he's not actually seen (IN YOUR FACE), but rather subtley and artistically. I did like how Night (cant spell his other name) shot the film and directed the wonderfulc ast of actors; I just didnt enjoy the story. I'd only recommend this if your a fan of Night's or romantic films (actually, almost like the perfect date film; you go to see a thriller but it turns out to be romantic). I give it a "so, so" vote and a 3/4 stars. It is a interesting movie, though, I must say.
.......Yesh........just like the other forum. Alot of ppl were dissapointed. Interesting or Other ppl's advice?.................... I'll check it out. Plus, our theatre is VERY cheap.........course sitting there for 2 hours might not be so fun......^ ^;; Romantic movies make me puke. I'm not into romantic movies. Unless cartoons. Heh. But hey, I dun think that's.....yeah, that might hold me back alittle.......0.o
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD
The film was good. I even indulged in a second viewing. But there are a lot of plot holes. ENTERING SPOILER ZONEAs we find out later in the movie, the creatures aren't real. They are just the elders in fancy costumes. But in the scene where Ivy's sister gets married, all the elders are at the wedding. Two boys run in and say they saw one of the monsters. Who was in the costume? Also, if the creatures aren't real, then where are the noises in the woods coming from? Lastly, the creatures being fake is not the surprise ending. The REAL surprise ending is that the village is really in our modern day world, the creatures are a gimmick to keep people from going into the real world. All the elders created the secluded village to get away from the modern world of violence, and hatred. Yet the theory that the 1800's was a more peaceful time is dismissed when Noah Percy stabs Lucious and nearly kills him. That's when Lucious' love, Ivy, goes through the woods to go to the "villages" to get medicines. When she gets to the modern world, she's not frightened about what she sees because she's blind and can't see. How can they keep planes from going over the villages? How could they keep hunters from illegally sneaking into the "Wildlife reserve" to hunt animals? All these things left me confused. BTW if you don't want to know pretty much the whole movie don't read any of that.

You must of not paid much attention to the movie. The elders said they made the noises during the movie. Also the Villlage was in a Wildlife shelter. That's why no planes could go over. also the guy who watched the fence on the outside of the reservation wall was probably one out of many people who watched teh wall. That's why they may of not made it inot the reserve. Also how many hunters would of made it through the woods inot the Village without turning back? Also, probably at least one of the elders had been not at the wedding to go in the costume.
Shyamyalamanialghfgm should consider hiring a writer for his movies in the future..
Just because you throw a plot twist in there doesn't make it a good story and just because you're so full of yourself to think your movies have a message that's new and important, doesn't mean your movies don't suck.
There was literally a 5-10 minute lull after he dropped the ball where you are just sitting in yor seat going, "why did I just pay to watch this movie? why am I still watching this movie?"
dude literally yanked his plot twist from Scooby Doo.
And the dialogue... I guess one could excuse it because the characters are supposed to sound like they are faking their way through shitty old style american colonial speak, but I'm not going to.
There's a scene between the blind girl, and the brooding pale boy, with is on par with Natalie Portman and Hayden Christiansen's scene in Episode II about the Sand.
Really, the preview for this movie is better than the movie itself.
If I was Night, I'd buy a case of beer and just stand outside a theatre watching all the people buy tickets, laughing until blood came out.

I missed the noises part but the planes thing is impossible. You could still see planes from like a mile away if you're in a big field, and they were in a big field. I live in front of a wildlife preservation, and they couldn't stop the planes from going over if they tried. And it was a huge shelter with like 10 guys gaurding it. Hunters could easily sneak over at night. If Ivy could do it in the day and she's blind then a hunter could do it at night. As for the wedding, I thought about it and I think it was Noah Percy in the costume. I mean, he must have known it was all a hoax, he laughed everytime they got scared by the noises, he knew the creatures wouldn't hurt him, and he knew where the costumes were obviously because he went after Ivy. Also have you noticed Noah Percy sounds sorta like No Person?
p.s.: STASHONE you're being seriously way too harsh on this movie. It was a GOOD MOVIE. Key word: MOVIE. It's not like God came down and taped a kick me sign to your back, so ease up and see it as what it is: A movie.
Well we were gonna go see it tonite, but we didn't cause it wasn't playing at the theatre we wanted to go to. Curses! But soon I shall see and hopefully not be dissapointed!

the key to enjoying this film is to go into the theater openminded expecting absolutely nothing. And of course, everyone has a different opinion, reviews in particular can be confusing. . . just go see it for yourself!
