This isn't a Disney project yet. It's being shopped around, including to Disney. There's a very good chance they will be the ones buying it. There's a mockbuster from Asylum called Avengers Grimm with a similar premise.

Paradigm’s David Boxerbaum and veteran lit manager Jake Wagner are out with a hot new spec titled "Princesses" that studios are salivating over since it’s described as a female-driven Avengers featuring classic fairy tale princesses.

Nir Paniry wrote the script and Lawrence Grey is set to produce under his Grey Matter banner. The spec is being sent to all buyers simultaneously, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales director Joachim Ronning is attached to the package for Disney, and possibly other territories as well.

Funny this should come up just after Screen Junkies made a joke about Disney prepping a "Princess Avengers" movie.

The project went to Sony. It's not going to be produced by Disney, after all.

Producer Amy Pascal is nearing a deal to acquire Nir Paniry’s hot spec script PRINCESSES and plans to set up the action-adventure project at Sony, where her Pascal Pictures banner is based, the Tracking Board has exclusively learned. Lawrence Grey (Lights Out) will also produce under his Grey Matter banner. Should a deal close, it would mark another victory for Paradigm’s David Boxerbaum, who is selling Paniry’s spec with veteran lit manager Jake Wagner. Boxerbaum has been on a roll of late, selling nearly a dozen specs since the start of the year.
