Friday The 13th
Oh My God! I just saw Friday The 13th for the first time. Man that movie is Awesome! I was beginning to lose faith that I would ever be scared by a scary movie, but man when Jason jumped out of the water and pulled the girl in, I yelled pretty loudly and jumped a few feet up into the air!!! The Coolest part was that it took place Friday June 13th “present day”. Of course that was present day 80’s but it is also present day today, incase you hadn’t noticed. I think it would have been so cool if they had released the special edition today, I bet it would have flown off the shelves. God, that was soo cool. I think this is the movie every teen slasher film should aspire to be. (Well, I don’t know, it might be, but I think it should get some recognition. I have never heard this being acknowledged as one of the scariest movies on those lists, of the scariest movies. Maybe I’ve just missed it, but you can bet this will be one of my future purchases. Hopefully a special edition will be out SOON!!!!

I would recomend atleast seeing the first one. I haven't seen any besides that one, but I do want to see the second. I don't know about any after that, but I mean it's like a part of film history. Just as everyone should see Casablanca or Snow White, everyone should see this, as it set the stage for teen slasher films.
Defy Gravity
Come on Philip, they're all classics.
Part two actually introduced us to Jason, and is notable for including the often talked about "Head in the Fridge" shot which was a revelation in its day.
The third would look incredible in 3D (its original title was "Friday the 13th 3-D") but admittedly added nothing much to the series.
Four is perhaps the greatest Friday film of them all – with a wonderful performance from a early teen Cory Fledman as Tommy, who also appeared in cameo in Friday part Five (the second film in the series to have a non-Jason killer).
Six is fun – introducing us to not only the now Zombie Jason, but actually introduces a knowing self-ironic comedy element way before Scream made such films popular.
Seven is a wonderful cross between Friday the 13th and Carrie. It's perhaps my favourite of the series. Lots of terrific set pieces, beaten only in the space based sequel Jason X!
Eight is – I think – a wonderful black comedy, a biting satire on city life and how dehumanising it can be. The last third or so of the film set in Manhattan is vastly different from any other Jason film – mainly down to the reactions of the New York citizens. Yes, I think this film has a message.
Then of course the franchise moved to New Line so out goes the Friday name and in comes the Jason branding.
Jason goes to Hell is OK – and I applaud the filmmakers from doing something different with the series, but it's not really a Friday film. Good fun though, and get the DVD for not only a chance to watch the unrated version, but a wonderful fun commentary track. Also note how the film ends with Freddy's glove pulling Jason into hell..
Chronologically Freddy vs. Jason happens next – I'm looking forward to this film enormously – what can I say… crossovers appeal to the comic geek in me! (and rumours are that Cory Feldman will have an unadvertised brief cameo of Tommy!)
And Finally Jason X is a strange mix of classic Friday action and fresh new ideas – succeeding where Jason Goes to Hell failed. Perhaps the second best Friday film.
As long as you know what to expect from a Friday film, no matter which one you pick your in for a treat.

Well, I'm digging this thread up from the dead - a Zombie thread to go with a Zombie Jason!
According to the Hollywood Reporter in an interview with Robert Englund the following was let slip about the much rumoured Freddy vs Jason vs Ash (sometimes rumoured to be Freddy vs Jason vs The Evil Dead).
I would like to see Kramer Vs. Kramer Vs. Godzilla, as envisioned by Director Marti De Burgi (Rob Riener)in the Return of Spinal Tap, but apparently it didn't quite turn out as the producer imagined.
"It didn’t work out as well as I thought it would. I thought it would with the juxtaposition of which parent would get the child with Godzilla looming over all of them—y’know, maybe Godzilla was going to get the child."

So what do you think? Lame or not. The plot for Freddy vs Jason sounded lame on paper, but the film was surprisingly good (yes it was STASHONE, it was!)"The premise is that if Freddy gets his hand on the necronomicon, he can return to life, as an immortal superbeing to seek revenge on Jason. Meanwhile, Freddy has to posses sleeping kids to try to kill Jason, but Jason just annhilates them. The parents of Elm Street view this as Jason murdering kids, so they hire a few supernatural being hunters to kill Jason. They top the team with Ash, who needs the money to fund his trip to destroy the book of the dead. Freddy realises Ash has the necronomicon in his dreams, so he has to get into Ash's mind. So that interlocks the battle. Hope they finish soon, i'm looking foward to working with Bruce (Campbell) and Ken (Kirzinger)."

Dawn of the Thread?
Day of the Thread?
How did I miss this thread the first time around? Maybe it was during my period of "not visiting", when everyone was much happier.
If I'm not mistaken, it introduced the hockey mask (I believe he was wearing a sack in #2). So it did contribute a little2099net wrote: The third would look incredible in 3D (its original title was "Friday the 13th 3-D") but admittedly added nothing much to the series.
I have seen all of the F13 except 7 (Manhattan), but I only own the first on DVD. Will probably buy the box eventually, but it is a little pricey. I do have a big soft spot for the F13, Halloween and Nightmare films especially. Jason is just a big brute when all is said and done, but who can argue with a guy who just likes killing folk?
As for F v J, I have to say I share 2099's love of crossovers (for many of the same reasons), and I did really like the film. It was really more of a Freddy film with Jason in it, but it worked. It was a fanboy's wet dream. And I look forward to a follow up, but I really don't think I'd like to see Ash added to the mix (as I've put the Evil Dead franchise on a pedestal).
