Are there alot of bootleg Tarzan CEs on ebay?

Post by Ciaobelli »

I recently bought one for $37 and have yet to receive it. Since Disney bootlegs are very common and many times sellers pretend to be dumb, what are the chances of it being a bootleg??
I asked a few questions and his response was "its the real deal".

Hope so. Help

For $37, it's either a bootleg or the seller doesn't know the real value of the DVD. As with most Disney DVDs on eBay, logic tells me it's the former. Hopefully it's not, for your sake.

sometimes the seller doesn't know what means the COLLECTORS EDITION in the movies, so they just sell it as a normal 2 disc dvd!

so hope you are lucky to recieve the original, it was new or used???

I have bought off of half bay quite a few times and have not ever gotten a bootleg. I think you will get the right one no worries. :)

If it takes more than a month to get your order, you need to contact 1/2 .com's security policy people and also get in touch with your credit card to say the product was never received. The pressure they put on the seller will get the product to you quickly, often.
I had trouble with an ebay seller last year, and it took 4 months to get my dvds...which unfortunately turned out to be bootlegs anyway.

Is Tarzan CE so rare nowadays that $37 should be considered cheap?

Its not cheap, but its a good price. i was bidding on one the other day, the auction ended at $67 plus $6 shipping. So I would say $37 shipped is pretty darn good.

Well .... I cannot really comment on the price as I bought mine long ago brand new from a retai store @ $54 CDN and I have not really followed the market on this specific Tarzan DVD. But if it was worth it for you .... then that's all that really matters. Congrats on finding it and I am glad it was not a bootleg.

I just sent paypal for a DVD that is out of print, and after paying I noticed that it is an asia collector's edition. It is a disney movie. It looks identical to the R1 release, but it's not. MAN! I've never done this before and am usually VERY careful at what I order!

At least it says this:
Refund
If you order an item from us and are not completely satisfied, please return it with your own cost within 2 weeks from the time the merchandise is received. We will offer you a complete refund of the purchase price. Shipping and Handling charges are not considered as part of the purchase price and will not be refunded.

Well, if he hasn't sent it yet hopefully he will paypal me the money right back. I sure hope so. I feel like crying right now! He does have over 2,000 feedback on paypal by the way.

You need to email him immediately about this to save quite a bit on shipping. He probably won't paypal you, but may mail you a check or something.

The worse that may happen is that you should be able to get your money back from PayPal, assuming the auction wasn't clearly identified as an "Asian Collector's Edition."

Asian CE

Post by disneyunlimited »

Is it really an Asian Collector's Edition? Or is that just another way of saying Far Eastern pirate?

If it's a genuine Disney DVD then it shouldn't be a problem. If it isn't then you can file a complaint with eBay and/or PayPal to get your money back. Regardless of his feedback rating, it is against the law to sell counterfeit DVDs so the seller wouldn't have a leg to stand on! Just follow the help links to find the appropriate form...

It would help if you could give us a link to the auction or the eBay item # so we can check the listing and let you know whether it's a genuine Disney DVD. (Use the 'private message' option if you don't want everyone on here to see it).

Regardless of what the seller says in his refund policy, if it's a counterfeit you are entitled to a refund of 100% of what you paid and the seller should be suspended from eBay. It's as simple as that!

Hey, Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWA:IT

I made him an offer if he'd take it off ebay, I didn't actually bid on it, that's the crappy thing! I looked over it twice and did not see it was the asian collector's edition, if I would have I would not have wanted it!!! I don't know HOW I could have missed that. This is just makin me sick to my stomach. If he doesn't give me a refund...

the worse that will happen is i'll get a sealed copy of it and sell it somewhere hopefully. I mean if you look at the pic it does NOT look like an asian collector's anything, it looks just like the R1 does it not!?

Thanks guys!

If the picture is different from what you received, you've got a case, although since the purchase wasn't made through eBay, one that is entirely up to the seller's disgression. Otherwise, it's unfortunately your fault for not reading the description carefully.

I'm not sure if it's a bootleg or an authentic DVD, but if it's the latter, and I was the seller, I wouldn't be pleased to have to refund and re-list just because someone didn't notice something in the summar.
