Wow I didn't even notice that! And I call myself a fan...lol. Yea, her hair looks great that way.
But they did get her hair color correct before, too, in her blue ball gown fairy tale designer doll:
Cinderella and Prince Charming Fairy Tale Designer doll
Her dress there is even partly kinda silvery...

Re: Disney Store Exculsive 17" Princess Dolls
In the fairy tale designer doll, her hair was golden blonde which is still a step up from the platinum blonde hair her regular dolls have (like unprincess noted), but still isn't accurate enough for me. I did like how her dress was actually silver there though.Disney Duster wrote:Wow I didn't even notice that! And I call myself a fan...lol. Yea, her hair looks great that way.

I'm not sure why they part her hair that way either. They changed it a few years ago and have kept it like that since then, annoyingly enough. It's not like her redesign changed the hair part so I'm not sure what made them change it for her dolls.unprincess wrote:but the playline doll has that stupid platinum blonde air. Hm, Cindy's hair looks rather orange blonde in the picture of the ballgown version to me, which is correct enough for me, but I can see how the pink dress doll has even more accurate color.
I never new about Ariel's hair part. Yes, they must fix that.

Announcing the Newest Series of the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection: Heroes and Villains – Part 2
http://blog.disneystore.com/blog/2016/0 ... art-2.html
The artwork for the second part of the "Heroes and Villains" series is beautiful! And the dolls look great. Both art and dolls look much better and more detailed compared to the 5 sets they released last year.
A real bummer that they left out Jafar (one of their most iconic villains) and Aladdin (or Jasmine). There could have been more male villains and heroes in the collection, and Disney should have showcased their diverse characters and released some non-white characters as well.
I'm hoping Disney Store will extend the Heroes and Villains theme till next year and give us the likes of Jafar, Hades, Frollo, Shan Yu, Facilier. Though knowing Disney, I sadly don't think that's gonna happen.

All the dolls look great!!! But Cinderella's dress, like I could see before, is already ripped up some. That doesn't make for a very nice doll.

Doesn't that make it more avant garde, though?Disney Duster wrote:All the dolls look great!!! But Cinderella's dress, like I could see before, is already ripped up some. That doesn't make for a very nice doll.
I think these doll collections are gorgeous. As a kid, I'd play with my sister's Barbies and was eventually dissuaded of that, but there's still a part of me that just loves these fashion dolls. If I ever have the income, I might spring for one.

Well, avant garde is cool, but I think a fashion doll is supposed to look "whole" and in it's "original state."

Agreed. She has a really pretty dress so it's a shame that it's ripped up.Disney Duster wrote:All the dolls look great!!! But Cinderella's dress, like I could see before, is already ripped up some. That doesn't make for a very nice doll.

But the dress is ripped because that is what happened in the movie. It is that scene they wanted to recreate with the dolls. The stepmother is leaving the house while Cinderella is left behind and her dress is destroyed.

Re: Disney Store Exculsive 17" Princess Dolls
Well...
Yes, they are trying to create the scene where her dress is destroyed, but for fashion collector's dolls, they should just have the stepmother holding Cinderella's necklace just like the very beginning of the dress-destroying scene. For fashion collector's dolls, it's best to keep the fashions whole and complete and pretty.
Also, the scene they are recreating is just where Lady Tremaine points out the beads on Cinderella's neck belonging to Drizella. She never ripped up her dress at that part.

Those are freaking amazing! I liked Lady Tremaine's dress especially, but Ursula, Yzma, and Hades really look great to me, too. I will never buy from this series, but dang, these dolls are exceptional! I don't get how the Evil Queen's mask is like her mirror, but whatever. Maleficent looks so ugly with that green skin and that hair-do, lol.

Re: Disney Store Exculsive 17" Princess Dolls
I agree with you that the Queen's mask doesn't look like the Magic Mirror (the top part is oval, that's about it!). My only complaint is that I wish Hades had "real" hair, not plastic hair. (That's my same complaint with a lot of Ken dolls, too.) But these look super-cool.

I think Yzma is the real standout of this group, closely followed by Lady Tremaine. Hades is cool mostly because he hasn't ever had merchandise like this, though I think he's a bit over-accessorized. The Wicked Queen is uninspiring, and Maleficent is a pretty embarrassing design given what a "Masquerade Maleficent" could really look like.

oh I was going to post about these but i didn't know where exactly to post about it. I think we need a general Disney Merch thread for when cool stuff like this comes up. Even if you don't plan to buy something its always fun to look at.
Here's the link from the Disney Store with slightly different pics of the dolls(you can get a better look at Lady T's cage skirt.)

well that Hades is to die for(hehe.) My other favorites are Yzma and Lady Tremaine, I love the sorta steam punk look they've got going with the cage skirt, even though its something she would never wear.
Ursula is okay, the Queen and Maleficent are kinda meh. They remind me too much of their first designer dolls. They're all still really nice though.

Re: Disney Store Exculsive 17" Princess Dolls
Yzma and Hades are fantastic. Seeing the drawings first, I didn't think Hades' would be too good, but it turned out better than the drawing. He's kind of hot this way.
Yzma's is perfect all-around. Tremaine and the Queen were both okay. I love Tremaine's mask and how perfectly they molded her face (the upturn of the lips in particular). I like the Queen's, too, although the colors don't feel much like the character as she is in the movie (it should've been more purple than red). Her collar-thing made me think of the Iron Throne.
Ursula... Meh. I like how Flotsam and Jetsam are skeletal to the point they also remind me of her lair. I don't care for the mask though. Points for trying, but overall it looks very goth girl. She and Maleficent are easily the worst.
Were there villain masquerade dolls before these?
