Walt Disney Documentary on PBS in 2015!
http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/walt-di ... 201266744/
"PBS and American Experience are taking a look at the man behind the mouse and will air “Walt Disney,” a four-hour, two-night film that aims to explore the life and legacy of the iconic film producer and business magnate.
The film is spearheaded by biopic veterans director-producer Sarah Colt (“RFK,” “Henry Ford”) and writer Mark Zwonitzer (“JFK,” “Triangle Fire”) and promises to showcase archival footage and interviews with artists who worked with him on “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and Imagineers who helped design Disneyland.
“For many Americans — and for me — the twinkle and swish of the Sunday night Disney logo was pure magic. It was an invitation to a special event,” said Beth Hoppe, chief programming officer and general manager, general audience programming for PBS. “For my kids, introducing them to animated Disney movies from ‘Beauty and the Beast’ to ‘The Lion King’ brought us great joy and taught them life lessons. Now viewers of all ages can learn about the life and legacy of the man behind the magic and his continuing impact on our lives and culture.”
“Walt Disney is an entrepreneurial and cultural icon,” said American Experience executive producer Mark Samels. “No single figure shaped American culture in the 20th century more than he.”
The TV movie will air in fall 2015 on PBS."

Re: Disney Biopic on PBS in 2015!!!
As long as it doesn't end up a "bash on Walt" thing, I'm very excited about it! From the description, it sounds like it won't be and in fact will be very positive.

I wonder which actor they will choose to play Walt. Got any suggestion?

It's not a biopic. It's a documentary. The article is just mislabled. The American Experience is a documentary series.

I don't wanna see Meryl Creep as a talking head giving her "opinion" on Walt, either!

American Experience: Walt Disney on PBS
PBS is running a special two part episode of American Experience on Walt Disney himself. Unfortunately the local PBS station here in Kansas City is on the blink and I can't watch it.
Re: Walt Disney Documentary on PBS in 2015!
Walt and Roy Oliver were true brothers in every sense of the term.

watched part 1 last nght. Its good, doesn't sugar coat Walt which I like. Guy was a real hardass, huh?
something that really struck me was when they were talking about what was new and special about Snow White, Pinocchio, and Fantasia: they were the first attempt at showing audiences that animation can be more than just quick crude laughfests. They can explore art & mythology and all the aspects of the human condition. And kids can handle it, it doesn't need to be dumbed down to them. That's something thats been completely lost today, we're right back to cartoons being dumbed down crude joke-athons, like those old rubber limb shorts.
